Hi. As anyone who has ever driven an Auto will know, you cannot start a car unless it is in neutral or park. Some cars will only let you start them in park and some will only let you start them in park AND with a foot on the brake. Years ago I had a HZ van with a Turbo 400 auto trans and it had the same deal, but the owner before me hooked into the switch in the shifter, then called the Auto Inhibitor Switch, and added a longer wire and a switch that was accessible under the seat. Effectively it was an anti theft device that, if you didn't flick the switch, would confuse the car to think it was NOT in park and therefor would not start. Is this featur in the BF ZF auto controlled by a simple switch under al lthe plastic? I wouldn't have thought it would be ECU controlled but then who knows. It is not something I want to play with potentially stuffing the elctromnics on my ZF but if it is a simple thing like a switch actuated by the shift lever, I may well. Any help??
