I got the BF Mk 2 Typhoon. I thought the valve springs would be ok? But I could be wrong.?

Hi, thought I'd post this up to let other members know of another options out there for exhausts. I recently bought a SMB turbo back exhaust. Havent fitted it yet though. It will be fitted next week some time. Once It's fitted up I'll post a vid of how it sounds. When it arrived I was pretty impressed with the quality of the welds and the overall look of the exhaust. It's australian made too. I will let you guys know if it's any good or if it's puss. I gotta feeling it's gonna be good judging by a few other members comments. It's a 4" off the turbo that half way down tapers to the 3.5" with a 5" cat. I won't be able to give you guys comparitive dyno's from this exhaust and any others (I don't have the funds, and I'm only upgrading from my stock exhaust), but once it's on I'll post a quick vid, and you can decide if it's good or sh*thouse. My mods at the moment are basically Nizpro Stage 1 plus. So Cooler, Injectors and Tune, which gets me about 290rwkw. I didn't change the cat from the start cause I knew I was going to eventually do the full exhaust system. About to go on is the process west race intake 6" k&n filter, battery relocation to the boot, process west fuel pump and surge tank, Nizpro plenum, and Nizpro ported turbo, flapper and 12 pound actuator, and the SMB Exhaust. So yeah, once It's all on, I'll post a vid, and post some dyno results. Just to stop a question which will probably come up, I didn't go for the full 4" system cause I won't be chasing numbers that will require it. Only really chasing between the 350-400rwkw mark. If anyone thinks I'm missing anything in my mods please feel free to jump in and say something, my car is used as a daily driver and will probably never see a race track. But might see a drag at some stage during it's life. Although not a big priority at this stage. So yeah, if anyone out there has a review of these exhausts you should post it here. So that any newcomers or people looking for a new exhaust can check it out. Just so the Mods know. No I don't work for SMB, I'm just a member who bought one, and I thought It would be good to have a post where us members could see what other peoples honest opinion of them were.

Yep Definetly warranty. It happened to my F6. Ford replaced it for free. But now its showing slight signs of it again. I've had the FPV mats replaced 3 times. The whole carpet replaced as well. Also needed a whole new wiring harness cause the one a bought it with was corroded and completely f*cked... (Dont know why or how cause it was a 'brand new' car.)f*cks me what it was but I'm guessing the car needs it. The drivers door was dropping and needed refitment, and new paint. Now It's dropping again.. The aircon used to leak water into the drivers footwell. Had to go in 3 times to get that sorted... The diff bush was replaced, front shrouds around foglights replaced.. The Sun visors needed replacing due to peeling fabric. It practically used to live at the Ford dealership. I think they must have used up most of the deign budget in the engine and drivline. Cause that is the only thing that hasn't stuffed up yet.

Lets see some proven results, like quarter mile, or dyno. It seems like 1. Yes it may well suck cooler air, but, is it really worth the effort? Seems to me like if your gonna take the front bumper off to fit this why not just install the pod under the headlight setup? It is a nice right up, and it is good for someone to throw some ideas out there and share. But I'm sure most of us prefer to keep our foglights where they are, and if there is a gain I'm still sure it would be small enough for most to still keep the foglights in. If you do get some decent results from this then well done. But I'd rather not butcher my car in this fashion.

Maybe give Kev at PW a call. But a retune is probably the answer.

I'm pretty sure they reccomend a tune after installing one of these. Did you get it tuned again?

I got the Xcal 3. And I ask my tuner if they could program it off. They said no.

I thought they all came with the poxy power bulge lid cover and wing? the flat flush fitting one looks a million times better. not as try hard.

Mate in a few weeks I might have that nizpro crossover pipe your chasing... Also, with the tyre website tirerack, how do you go about getting them to ship to aus? do you have to ring them direct? There prices are awesome.

Rung up bob jane today, they have them priced at $512 each. But they said they are not load rated to my car. That seems like bullsh!t though??? Surely they would be ok for the typhoon? They were pushing the yokohama S Drive for $469..

What are they like compared to the neovas?

nah, its stock ride height. stock suspension. only mods are cooler injectors and tune atm.

Hey, Just checked out my tyres, on the front I have advan V103's, on the back I got some cheap chinese crap, called "Mayrun". And the whole lot are f*cked. I started with the V103's on the back as well but they only lasted about 8000 k's. The Mayrun, only about 4 to 5000 k's. Spewin cause the ones on the front have heaps of meat on the outside edge of the tyre but worn bald on the inside edge. Would an alignment fix that? All 4 need replacing, just wondering if anyone has ran with the V103's and the Advan Neova and can give me a comparison. Does anyone knows what a rough price would be with the advan neova. 245 35 r19. Also whats the fattest tyre I can stick on the standard fpv 19" rim? Cheers.

I had the same noise coming from my f6 typhoon a while back after a tune. It was a boost leak. I actually didn't mind the noise/whine. But it's fixed up and gone now.

This is the youtube vid I saw. I think this is Franks car (few posts up) could be wrong though. Sounds pretty tight, should go good on the phoon.
