  1. I reckon 292km/h I'm sure the gearbox will be fine
  2. Was going through a roundabout on the outside lane (double lanes) and I overtake a VL turbo sh*tbox. It had all the dialls etc but looked like sh*t, when I overtook he floored leaving rubber (while travelling at about 60klicks) I then pulled in behind him, and he slowed right down, must have thought I was a cop. There was no doubt it was worked but the car is a piece of sh*t! It was almost stalling afterwards and blowing blue smoke. Way to treat your car! I've waited to be at the lines with neon lighted lowered massive rear winged pulsars etc but it hasn't happened. Would love to blow dirt in their face.

    Series II XR6T

I would throw a spanner in the works and guess that the FPV T won't come out in manual. Auto only makes sense due to the extensive R&D to fit a better gearbox in. I've heard something about a Jag 6-speeder but I have my doubts. There are a couple of other options TKOII (?-fit) & T56 I spose ... but we'll have to wait and see. Peace
  4. Hey Peter, For me it would be 280-300kw at the fly wheel and better brakes. A few years down the track I will be then looking at about the 330 - 350kw. I don't want to spend (can't) too much too early. A chip is perfect for me & am eagerly awaiting the info session re the plug in setup. Cheers
  5. Gearbox Brakes 330kw Should be pretty right then, oh yeah and internal finish - those plastic bits don't sit in position for very long. Redline on RPM tacho

    Big Brakes Anyone!

I think you'll find a much larger market for the 17's and an even larger market for new brakes Starting to save ... Go the 17's
  10. Thanks Peter, Yeah I wasn't sure whether you'd be able to do it for the SS although I know you can install the normal unichip. I don't think it gives out the same amount of power as the turbs though! Look forward to the info day.
  11. Peter, I am very interested to take part in an info day in melbz regarding the new phase1 system. Will this be available for LS1 engines as well as I'm sure my mate in his SS will want to try and 'keep up' with me. Cheers

    Road Trip

I've only noticed slight vibration in my brakes, and that's a couple of weeks after returning from my trip. I don't think the trip really caused any warping I think it would have happened anyhow. I didn't really need to do any, 'serious' braking on the road. I probably would have used them more thrashing it down here looking back. I always had the intention of upgrading the brakes 'down the track' as the standard ones are average. Looking at it this way, get them fixed and if it starts happening again buy new rotors and calipers and get ford to fit them. I heard someone else did that as it would actually save them labour?? Man I don't know how to use this quote business. Thanks for the info about the sign posting guys, I will be aware next time. There are some great backroads though. On another note, on the return trip a VN which was in front of me overtook a caravan then was turning back into the left lane - so I could overtake him and lost it completely, couldn't believe it! Smashed right into a car parked on the side of the road (only parked car for about 30 klicks). He wasn't even turning that sharply. I think it was a combination of wet roads (nothing overly dramatic), bald tyres and the lack of fine touch in the accelerator of the VN (all or nothing). Anyways the caravan stopped to check it out, he shoulda been ok. Unroadworthy cars are dangerous!

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

I think shudder is starting to kick in. My boss had shudder in his wagon, and said it was evident at light braking. When braking from about 80k's there is definitely vibrations, I think it could be starting, is it the case the quicker you get them 'fixed' the less problems down the track? I am worried, and the vibrations prob. won;t be detected by the service dept yet, I have noticed a small increase that's all.

    Road Trip

G'day, Thought I would quickly share my experience as I recently drove to Byron Bay from Melbourne for New Years. Taking road trips in the car was one of the reasons I brought the T. A lot of people worry 'bout scatches, bugs etc and don't end up driving their good cars cause of it. Fair enough, but why get a good, quick and large vehicle. Let me first let you know that the car is standard apart from some options but we took the trip with a full load (5 adults) and baggage. The cornering / handling in the T was still fantastic even with the extra weight, taking the windy roads was still the goods. However, after stocking up on beer for a few days just before reaching Byron the handling became saturated (I am not joking) the car went from still having give to no give ,round corners. Apart from the space and comfort from having such a large car the acceleration was still brutal. I'm not talking really in first and second gear (slow as sh*t), third and fourth were perfect when you needed it (heaps of pull still) ie overtaking. Setting the car on cruise til you caught another car, then giving the right peddle a squirt to overtake, meant you didn't have to slow down at all (did the trip in the Tarago last year - sooo thankful for the juice this time). I didn't have to worry about dodgy overtakes either, having this much juice really does create a safer car IMO. Fuel consumption was terrific, getting over 600k's a tank. My K's per 100km which has never been reset dropped from 14.5 to 12.6 by the end of the trip. I had about 9000ks before I left. I was using 98RON where possible but sometimes had to settle with 95RON, until the next major town anyhow. To my suprise there are no speed limit roads around the Byron Bay area (Broken Heads). I thought NT was the only place in OZ but was wrong. Got up to 180 but had to stop there due to a surface. I'm not really into speeding like that on public roads, but couldnt resist in this case. No traffic perfect conditions etc. Brought a car bra before I left and it saved the front of the car without a doubt, the amount of butterflys which would have ended up in the intercooler would have been some kind of record. And no I didn't have any run ins with the law. And no one else drove my car did get a parking infringement for not parking rear to curb. What the hell are the 135 degree parks anyways. Its gotta be the worst bloody idea in traffic history! I should have some idea as I have studied transport planning at uni. For one person to park it stops all the traffic. I mean I can see where the idea spawned from (not reversing out into traffic) but in practice it just plain sucks. Dubbo I think was the only NSW town not to have it anyways I'm strayin off topic. Did try (very late notice) to get a unichip installed before the trip to get better fuel economy and a bit more juice for the extra weight, didn't happen, now I will have to save again, that would've made the trip a tad it more fun. Anyways, to sum up car was great, good overtaking, no mechanical failures, lots of looks and even better fuel economy. If you've read this far you must be very bored or thinking of taking your T for a roaddy, from my experience get the car bra and enjoy! p.s. I took a few pics and they are somewhere on the forum dunno how to create a link to them, help would be handy. Cheers Rusty
  22. mmmm.... "just ease of the clutch and smell the rubber"
  23. Have had a couple of issues, tailshaft fix, steering, coolant leak ... I think that's it, if you don't mod it it doesn't matter all covered on warranty. Great car its certainly an all rounder
  24. Looks great, could picture white / black combo for my white T, or just 100% white, now we're talking porn!
  25. You can't be serious?? that's gotta suck big time!@!
