  1. This is interesting..... My wife's FG G6ET mk ii GPS system has also died. All other ICC functions OK except Navigation. Wonder if it is date related software glitch? Happened last week. Anyone else have this issue?
  2. G'day all, Did anyone resolve this problem, and if so what was it. My wife's 2012 G6ET just displayed that same message. Any feedback would be appreciated Regards Tom
  3. Thud is definitely coming from the sub-woofer on the rear parcel shelf... It also "thuds" randomly whilst driving. It sounds like there is an intermittent power supply connection to the sub amp. I'll ask the service department what they think next time I drop by the dealership.
  4. Wife has been complaining about a thud noise when she starts her car in the morning. It's a mk 2 G6eT. At first I thought it may be some excess play in the driveline as she said it occurred when selecting reverse, but I found it occurred whilst sitting in neutral as well. It sounds just like a solitary dc spike (dull thud) coming from the sub woofer about 10 seconds after car starts. Doesn't do it every time though. Anyone noticed anything similar?
  5. Good news is I updated the firmware in Samsung S2 to Android 4.1.2 and Bluetooth links phone and music when I first fire up. The ICC confirms with messages on the screen. Music streaming works well now, and displays current song and album cover on ICC, and steering wheel control can select next track. I can answer incoming calls with simple quick press of steering wheel control switch, or reject by holding switch longer. I am having issues now with the voice call function..... Getting message "voice call fail" when I try to use it. What's the trick to get the system to recognise specific call numbers when voice command is activated. Do I need to train the phone with my voice? Or set specific functions on for voice activation? This is an important feature as it appears contact lists are not supported for display on the ICC display. Having to manually access the phone to select contact number at the moment. "Dohhh!" Ciao Tom
  6. Thanks for the replies.... The compatibility list was exactly what I was looking for. iPhone 5 seems to tick all the boxes so wife can get one. My existing Galaxy S2 shows it should do just about everything too, so there must be a glitch in the communication between my phone and the ICC ??? I'll try updating the phone software as suggested. Thanks. Samsung S4 not listed..... Can someone confirm if they have had success with it.

  10. I've just bought a G6eT and I am having issues with getting my phone list to appear on the screen. I can't find a list of phones which are verified to be compatible for all the features available. Wife and I currently have a Galaxy S2, but it does not stream music or transfer contact list or allow voice tag calling. Phones do pair up and receive calls handsfree, but making calls necessitates using the phone. What am I doing wrong? Both phones are out of contract so I can upgrade them, but need to know if the bluetooth phone system in the MkII G6E works better with a specific phone.... ie either iphone 5 or Samsung S4? ( Mac vs Droid ? ) Do both these phones allow contact lists to display on the central display? ie Names and numbers? voice tags? What about music streaming? Any other major advantages/differences of iphone 5 over Samsung S4 in regards to feature compatibility with the Ford Bluetooth? Wife wants an iphone 5, as she also has an iPad.... and I actually would prefer the Samsung S4, but are they both fully compatible with the Ford bluetooth ???
  11. Another vote for the over 55's silver haired club.
  12. I've never had a car with traction control before. I test drove a G6eT recently with intentions of buying it, but when I applied some excess power on a wet road I heard a horrendous banging from the rear ??? Not sure whether it was axle hop, differential problem or the traction control activating ? For those that have G6ET's..... If applying excess power on a wet road with traction control enabled, is there any audible and noticeable vibration felt when rear wheel(s) begin to spin? Any ideas regarding the noisy rear end during wheelspin. Is it typical?
  13. Seeing as you are an Adelaide boy, I'd recommend you see Sam, at SA Race Transmissions and Differentials. Address: 16 Dundee Avenue, Expensive Daewoo Hill SA 5088 Phone:(08) 8266 1688 He rebuilt my box back in 2004 when I modded my ute (300+ rwkw) He knows what's required, and can do both your trans and diff at same time. ciao tom
  14. No metal in box. I'd be more inclined to think it is a bearing noise as converter is still functioning very well. Wear and tear has to become evident at some stage.... There's a fair load on the converter when brake stalled at 15 psi. After 8 years I can accept some wear. So what converters other than Dominator Eliminator are being used succesfully in street/strip applications with your T's ?
  15. Thanks for the replies, but what I'm really wanting to know is what spec converters have been found to work well specifically with the XR6Ts and the BTR 4sp auto trans? It's been over 8 years since my torque converter was installed, and it is the Dominator Eliminator with a 2800 stall. Would like to know what other options there are that forum members have actually used with satisfaction. Anyone using a smaller 10 inch converter behind their XR6T? If so, what's it like?
  16. Hi all, Ute is still going strong. After 8 years of exceptional reliability, I have noticed a slight whine from the 4sp auto trans when putting it in gear.... No noise in park or neutral.... but a slight whine when selecting R or D. I suspect the torque converter is the culprit and am wondering what the current thoughts are on torque converters. The one I have currently is rated at 2800 rpm and has performed OK for 8 years / 110000 km. What's everyone running in their +300rwkw 4sp auo boxes? Brand / model / stall : part number? cheers tom

  22. Good thread with lots of excellent "How to" info. My BA has done 90000km, and yesterday morning I noticed a slightly different tone to the turbo as the turbine was spinning down at shutdown. Just a subtle different sound which wasn't quite right. Chased around yesterday and managed to pick up a replacement filter fitting and copper washers, and replaced the unit today. The posts above sure made the job easy. Removal of the air box to provide some work room is the key. Getting to the screen fitting (up against the block) with a 24mm open ender is the hard part. Using a long 24mm socket over the top of the oil pressure sender (after removing the cable connector) makes the job relatively easy. Just another tip.... when reinstalling the oilscreen fitting, position it so that the 24mm open end spanner can get to it from above... makes future access easier. My screen was almost completely blocked. Good news is, after fitting the new screen, the turbo spin down is now silent. Phew! Got that done just in time. Like it was said above. If you have a few years and a few kms on the motor.... DO IT! Remove and check / clean or replace it... Don't procrastinate. It really is a time bomb.
  23. Anyone noticed that South Australian Mobil dealers no longer display the Synergy 8000 label on the pumps? Went to 3 different outlets that I've used in the past, and none of them stock Synergy 8000 anymore. The pumps now display UNLEADED UNLEADED 95 and UNLEADED 98 http://www.abc.net.au/lateline/business/items/200911/s2741458.htm I guess they must be stocking the Caltex Vortec now. I guess this has happened over the past month, and they have now altered their display panels at the pumps accordingly. Maybe it's my imagination, but I have sensed a drop in performance in the past few weeks. I hadn't suspected fuel, but maybe that's why. I guess its time to retune for BP Ultimate.
