  1. Good ones? Are the 'Ebay specials' no good?. What would you reccomend?
  2. I guess we'll just see how the "guinea pig" scenario works out for now..............
  3. Its being tuned via VCM, so tunes are directly made onto the ECU. I dunno, just reading a few posts found that this has corrected other surging issues, although I accept it may not be the case for me. The tuner sad the existing coils seem satisfactory but some tested better than others.
  4. I see a few people have had similar surging issues and in some situations replacing the coil packs has solved the problem. Do you guys think this is worth trying and would these plugs be a good option?? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-BA-BF-FALCON-F...93%3A1|294%3A50
  5. So DVS yours surges under load in higher gears?
  6. Once again thanks for the advice, just wish I could have guys like ratter and the other site sponsors dealing with the car!
  7. I've almost given up hope on this damn situation. I spoke to a trans specalist and my understanding after talking to him was that the torque limiter drops power just before/between shifts not actually in gear. So that would almost rule that out?!.............
  8. To answer the question that was asked before the car is an 04 and has 65Km on the clock. Replaced the old plugs with NGK Iridiums gapped at 0.8 at the start of the year. Just spoke to the tuner and he said he has turned alot of the tourque settings in the box off.
  9. thanks mic. coils all checked ok apparently. Im starting to think its this tourqe control settings which our06t also suggested. The tuners are all scratching their heads cos a BF they tuned was sweet as, which would make sense seeing as its a totally different trans and capable of more load.
  10. If you could that would be fantastic mate
  11. Thanks for the info guys. Yeah he tells me injectors are working well within their capacity, all the coil packs have been checked and are satisfactory. Apparently there was a fault code with the throttle body at one stage dont know if that has been sorted. Everything has been checked and I think he is just clutching at straws suggesting it could possibly be the new cooler! I know you guys advise to go elsewhere but at this stage there isnt really an elsewhere and once you go so far with a tuner its not so easy to change at least until current issues are resolved. our06t I'd be really interested if you knew anything more about these 'process codes'. Im sure this is a tuning issue even though he says there is a slight and very hard to detect surge on the standard tune.
  12. Hey guys if any of you have been paying close attention you may recall recently I have had my fair share of issues getting more power out of my BA XR6T. At the moment I have a stock motor with a HDi Intercooler kit. It has been tuned to make about 225rwkw (which I thought was dissapointing) but at this boost level (about 10psi I think) it also has a surging issue. If I take off from standstill the car seems fine, but for example I use tiptronic and engage third at maybe 80km the car seems to have a surging problem where it cycles between boosting and then not. It does it really any time you load the engine and make it work from lower rpm at speed. My tuner has checked everything and the only thing he can suggest is put the stock cooler back on to see if it makes a difference. Which is the last thing I want to do as its a bugger of a job and may all be in vain as it sounds like a longshot to me. Any ideas?!
  13. yeah that is easier said than done, would have to travel quite a distance to go elsewhere and may encounter similar problems. And I am going off the fact that he tuned a stock XR6T to 330rwhp which is fairly decent. But I also realise there is more to a tune than peak power. I have heard of tuners in Auckland who are quite skilled wih falcons but im at the other end of the country!
  14. yeah good idea. if anyone else could provide any other solutions it would be greatly appreciated. Its hard to find people knowledgeable about XR6T's over here in NZ! Seems like the answer to almost anything Ford lies amongst these forums! Cheers
  15. Cheers our06t, what your saying made sense to me. Will talk with him about it later, I think it would be fair to say he probably wouldnt be on the same level as tuners you have over there. And may not have the benefit of working on as many xr6t's.
  16. yeah I asked him about the thermostat but he didnt reckon that was an issue.......
  17. Hey guys, sorted the problem with my XR6T not being able to run higher boost, it was a problem with the wastegate actuator being stuck open. New problem is with the engine temp. being higher than it was before which is causing detonation and limiting the amount of power it would otherwise be able to make. Reason for this seems to be my HDi Intercooler is substantially limiting airflow to the engine radiator causing engine temps to rise. I get the feeling I would have been best to leave the factory intercooler in place. Tuner is checking flow through the intercooler at the moment, but he tuned a stock falcon to a higher power level with no issues. So far hes been able to run around 9psi which was making about 225rwkw I think? I may be wrong there....Anyone had issues like this before?! Any ideas to over come this? Cheers

    19"s

Thanks Ghia. Those 19"s look ideal to me. Sits just right without being too low for everyday driving, nothing worse than hearing the car scrape as you go over up a driveway or curb! Will post pics once the wheels are sorted.........

    19"s

Yeah I think I'll just suffer the compromised ride for the look of them. Will it look like it needs lowering? To put in perspective will it sit the same as a BA/BF GT-P on factory 19"s or do they have lower springs factory??

    19"s

oops I didnt mean to post this in here!

    19"s

Hey guys im about to put some 19" Avanti Gauntlets on my 04 XR6T in vibe with silver BF GT Stripes. Cosmetically I think it'll set the car right off with the dark purple of the car and black on the wheels, with silver accents on both car and wheels. But im just wondering how bad the ride is gonna be going to a 235/35 R19 any comments or experiences anyone might have had doing this?? Cheers
  22. yep I am. fitted a new intercooler kit should have had it tuned this week but wategate wouldnt allow anymore boost. so its coming off on tuesday to get repaired. whats the go with porting? can most tuners do it and what sort of cost is involved? any idea of cost upgrading the actuator?
  23. yeah I'd like to do both those things. Is porting and fitting a larger flapper it a straight foward process most tuners can carry out or will it possibly need to be done by a specialist. My understanding is this will allow the boost to be more stable and better controled. Correct? Hopefully can get 250rwkw..........
  24. Yeah I'll look into that. Dont think I'll bother too much with the turbo, dosent sound like its that bad and the cost to replace bearings is apparently quite high. I better gap the plugs this weekend for when the tune gets loaded, what should I set them at??. Hopefully will be able to run 12psi once actuator is sorted then I'll leave it at that for this car. fingers crossed the valve springs and injectors can handle it.
  25. Tuner called to say their is a problem with the actuator, so it'll come off next week to get repaired. Also noted the one of the turbo bolts was very loose and that the turbo bearings were a little noisy, so I guess the turbo will come apart for new bearings. Anything I may as well do whilst everything is in pieces?? Car has only 65 Km on the clock, things can happen at anytime huh!
