  1. Haven't tried to have it fully blocked. I might try that tommorow. I don't understand how venting to atmo would help to keep boost up, I thought that it would actually release boost, whereas venting into the manifold would "recycle" air and hence keep boost up ???
  2. Is there any impact on performance (either positive or negative) when venting to atmo? I would have thought that returning the air back into the manifold during a gear change, will help to build boost quicker in the next gear? By the way I just did this on my FG F6, and the best way to get "tututu" is to drill a 10mm hole into the rubber stopper which is to be attached to factory BOV. Do we have an emoticon that represents "tututu"? // Jake.
  3. Hi guys. I have fitted the XR8 intake and lower box this arvo to the otherwise stock (for now) FG F6, and it certainly feels more responsive, and eager. The snorkel (purchsed second hand) had been been trimmed so that the bonnet can close easily. When the bonnet is closed though it appears that the seal sits in front of the mouth of the snorkel, which would effectively be blocking some of the entry... I am considering trimming the seal where the snorkel mouth is to ensure that full airflow can get in there un-obstructed. What do you guys think? // Jake.
  4. 600 CCA FTW!
  5. You had me at 'hello'. Actually sounds pretty awesome!
  6. Would this one fit FG F6? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FPV-Ford-steering-wheel-decal-badge-suit-all-Territory-/190562391948?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5e67578c
  7. Now you just need to align it better so that it sits straight, and in the middle. Also, spray the top bit black (or put black duct tape as interim step), so the top is not visible through the grill.
  8. Best bet would be to find someone selling a stock BA/BF exhaust.
  9. Ok, I scoured the "internets", to find that the FG XR6T exhaust is completely different to the BA/BF XR6T (see attached pic). Interestingly the exhaust is a single pipe (looks lika a 3"), but the centre section is temporarily split into a twin pipe section... So the question is, when cutting out the centre muffler, would you just make the whole thing single 3", or persist with a twin pipe portion ? Jake.
  10. Two options for FG F6: 1. Venom cat pipe, which currently retails for $495 (retains factory dump). 2. Dump/Cat pipe, which currently retails for $825. For the 300-330rwkw mark is the dump/cat pipe recommended over the cat only pipe? The following pictures show: PICTURE 1 a) cat/dump pipe. b) Stock (dump looks like it has a tight bend). PICTURE 2 c) cat pipe which connects to facotry dump.
  11. We should get an exhaust shop to make up 10 or so sets of FG centre muffler replacement straight pipes!

Awesome! P.S. Will you get the air intake boxed?
  13. Hi guys, I have asked this quastion in another thread, but no responses so far... Will the BA/BF centre muffler section bolt straight up as a replacement for the FG cenre section? Cheers, Jake.
  14. Good results with minimal outlay!
  15. Hi guys. I have a set of BA XR6T straight through "centre muffler delete" pipes, and was wondering if these would bolt straight up to an FG as a centre muffler section replacement? Cheers.
  16. Very helpful writeup! Thankyou! I would be interested to see also whether there is an FG maintenance guide - With some things simmilar to the BA solenoid maintenance routine. Jake.
  17. Thanks guys! It's awesome to get this detailed level of advice. So I think that from the consensus above, my list will be as follows: 1. XCAL & Tune $ 1500 2. Herrod cooler pipes $ 450 3. Venom Cat/Dump $ 450 4. XR8 intake & K&N $ 200 5. PWR Stepped cooler $ 950 6. Centre muffler chop $ 150 TOTAL $ 3700 I will keep an eye on the clutch, but will budget for a Mal Wood Opt 3+ down the track. I won't worry about the elbow pipe. To get the car back to stock tune, it will mean a visit to a workshop to remove cooler and dump/cat pipe and reflash back to stock. No need for valve springs, actuator, and turbo porting I guess at this level? // Jake.
  18. Thanks guys for the tips. The car is booked into Pitlane for a thorough look over, and then will be going in for service and any warranty work after that. Jake.
  19. What's the best place for servicing in south east Melb?
  20. Can a BA F6 second intake be added to the FG airbox?
  21. Hi guys, I just bough an FG F6 with 50,000kms on the clock. The car has a few weeks of warranty left, so I want to go over it with a fine tooth comb. What should I look for? At this stage I have found that: a) The diff makes funny noises, as if it is moving around, and not fixed in its place - Bushes? b) When taking off, occasionally I hear a funny noise for a short while which seems to come from the tailshaft, (in between front seats), like rocks shaking in a wooden box? - Related to above? c) No AM reception at all on the stereo - Some loose connectors? What else should I check? How much does it cost to get extended warranty for 12 months, and is this worth it? Cheers, Jake.
  22. Hi guys. I just bought a Manual 2008 FG F6 with 50,000kms on the clock. My current ride (which I will be selling shortly) is a BA MkII XR6T manual with 250rwkw. The plan is to mod th F6 to reach around the 300-320 rwkw mark, and my budget is around $5k. I will most likely be taking the car to Pitlane. The budget will be spent roughly as follows (please check if it looks ok): 1. XCAL 3 and custom tune: $1500 2. Venom stainless 5' cat/dump pipe: $450 3. Nizpro cooler pipe kit: $450 4. XR8 intake & K&N filter: $180 5. Cone replacement pipe: $150 (this is for noise only - does it make much difference?). 6. Mal Wood Opt 3+ $1800 7. Replace centre muffler with straight pipes: $150 (this is for noise only). Am I missing anything? All of the above should keep the car and engine bay looking 100% stock, which is what I want. That's why I am reluctant to upgrade the intercooler. Also the car can be returned to stock tune simply by changing back to the stock cat/dump (is this easy?), and re-flashing. a) Is skipping the intercooler a mistake? b) Should I also look to get the replacement elbow pipe? c) Anything else? P.S. I will post pics up on the weekend. Cheers, Jake.
  23. I've read somewhere that the FG manuals have the same clutch in both the XR6T and the F6. Could this be true?
