Ba XR6 Turbo loss of power and stalling in hot weather
spook replied to sterps's topic in Turbo Workshop
Does it ever do it when the fuel tank is reasonably full? I had the similar fault. When the tank was 1\2 or less and on a hot day - same symptoms as you report. Leave for a few hours and would it start and run fine as by then it was later in the day and cooler. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump -
I have a Dayco and the cap leaks

Speaking of Subaru's.... Have an 07 Impreza as my daily since the XR6 is consigned to the odd weekend run. Just did an upper engine clean on it also. Like working on these things - have done all the usual maintenance tasks such as timing belt kit, water pump, plugs, cam cover gasket, all fluids etc. Was my sons car till he wanted a manual. So he now has a 09 RX and a box of bits ready to be installed. Looks like I have a busy weekend ahead....

Initially just unplugged the connector on each speaker to get rid of the noise, then installed a Kenwood head unit (unsure of exact model) at a later date Yes, no more static noises or loud clicks etc after that as speakers now connect directly to new head unit. As for model, we just chose one that had Bluetooth and DAB+ and also installed an Aerpro steering wheel interface End result is a similar setup to this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF_rH2B8Ywc

My brothers 08 FG had the exact same issue. Went back to Ford to have the ICC looked at when under warranty. Unsure if they replaced anything as fault remained. Got so bad we disconnected the speakers from the ICC and ended up installing a single DIN head unit.

Early model FG by any chance?

Seeing as the car's not getting any use at the moment thanks to living in a COVID hotspot, now have an easy way to keep the battery topped up....

2007 XR6 BF Mkii Headunit Swap - Help
spook replied to xr6bfmkiisydney's topic in Audio/Visual Workshop
Something like this... FALCON BA BF - TERRITORY SX SY REVERSE CAMERA (aslautomedia.com.au) and Alpine - UTE-93DAB DIGITAL MEDIA/DAB RECEIVER WITH ADVANCED BLUETOOTH This model (may be discontinued) has steering wheel control support built in (external adapter not required) Was easy to setup and still retain volume controls, skip forward etc via steering wheel -
I'm not able assist with any special requests

Thanks I gave it a good clean and a run over with some wet n dry and it's just a scratch. At least it's shiny again!! Put it all back together and checked all fittings - sure enough found the bottom 2 turbo manifold nuts a tad loose. Will teach me to check the obvious things first! Fired it up and all good.

Been chasing a minor exhaust leak that's quite noticeable on first start however quietens down somewhat when warm. I suspected it was the dump pipe and upon removal noticed what appears to be a very long crack. Just seems too straight to crack like that and is more than likely a deep scratch from fitment many years ago?? Is this common?

Time for a colour change -

Has it been tuned?
