  1. just a quick question guys... anyone in the Darwin/Katherine area got a spare 16" steelie and tyre they would like to sell or 2x cheap alloys and tyres... got a drive to Melbourne coming up and realised the tyres on the back of the turbo are a bit past their prime.
  2. wow completely forgot I posted this here... its a Mal Wood stage 3+ clutch and flywheel. The throw out bearing was noisy to begin with before the clutch installed, it was replaced underwarrenty and I had my clutch installed at the same time, noise was worse, put a stock clutch and flywheel back in and noise it gone... The noise the clutch made is very loud, doesnt sound like anything you would consider "acceptable". Like sitting at lights I would put my foot on the clutch rather than not so my car doesnt sound like its about to rattle to pieces at the lights. Also taking off with minimal revs the noise gets REALLY loud.
  3. Hi guys, I have just recently had a sponsors clutch installed in my bf2 turbo sedan, I wont name the clutch or sponsor at the moment because I dont want to bad mouth them only to have the problem be something else. With the clutch installed the gearbox rattles quite loud and can be heard easily from outside the car, and if you turn aircon on the sound get almost twice as loud. Push foot on the clutch and the sound goes away completely. I just had a stock clutch put back in (since I lice with a mechanic so I dont pay labour for this mucking around) and the sound is completely gone. Clutch is single plate Any light you can shed on this would be helpful.
  4. I moved here after the speed limits, but made a few minutes past 2 hours to the the right hand bend/traffic lights where the palmerston turn off is in my old 6ltr ss ute... not bad considering I still did the speed limits in pine creek and adelaide river. In the turbo I havent raced up because I usually have a car full of passengers and I wouldnt ever drive that fast with other peoples lives in my hands.
  5. they would be basically a customised generic, ignore that fact that's oxy-moron. Without having your exact car on a dyno the tune will never be 100% perfect for you car, as they need to tune basically for worst case scenarios, so not too much timing, not too much boost as some engines deal with it better than others and they have to assume yours would be a worst case engine so they dont tune it too strong and you end up popping a motor. Always get your car dyno tuned if its at all possible
  6. clutch is sitting in a box at home waiting... the Rap1d gear is still en-route to Katherine... the wait is killing me!
  7. After a talk with Alina "drool" (HELVAV8 - or what ever the plate is) about Peckys and their work there that's what swung me to them. Dave at Hi-Tech was calling my mate with the tt calais v6 constantly because he couldnt figure a few things out on the the tune that ended up being the use of very old software not giving access to some of the calibrations available on his ECU... just didnt have the professionalism you would expect of someone your handing over your hard earned to and trusting the safety of your engine. If I was in Darwin I would offer to run this section, but from Katherine I doubt I would be organising many cruises... maybe a cruise from Woolies to errr... around the block and back to Woolies.
  8. I have Rapids kit coming up and going on my T mate, Im going to talk to Peckys about tuning it, they had alot of nice cars and Powercruise. I have spoke to Dave at Hi-Tech but have heard as much negative as positive about him around town... From what I gathered earlier in this thread Peckys and Hi-Tech are the only places that have the software to tune the T's.
  9. nah it was a tt v6, the one in the powerskids aswell, was just running out of puff because its only running 8psi due to sh*tty waistegates not allowing it to boost further or something simular. Its a full built motor, so will be pretty good when its sorted, was only 243rwkw at powercruise.
  10. I was there, mate had his tt vx calais there that smoked everything except the drag cars... saw u racing that saturday, did the xr6ts proud... I had my turbo parked out back of the garage so there where at least two turbos there...
  11. pity I didnt check this thread earlier, I was there, wasnt entered just had my car parked for the weekend, but had my mates twin turbo vx calais out there, after having its tune finalised on friday afternoon. haha. Was a great weekend I have to say, only one xr6t out there though.
  12. Just ordered Rapids V2 intake and cooler and hotside and got Mal's option 3 plus clutch coming too. Then its off for a tune with some injectors... so yes I bit the bullet and started the never ending power chase.
  13. I have some rapid gear on its way to NT for my car, and thinking about going clutch aswell just to have it done and not worry about the stocker, but with everyone saying take it easy for 1000kms or so before giving it full throttle with a new clutch I want to know if it can be tuned in this period of time. I dont wanna have to baby an untuned car around town for 1000kms before I can have the engine running safe a/f's. Clutches in question are either Mals option 3 or a single plate Tex clutch.
  14. the money is there for a clutch, im just dont like the idea of spending it... so if the clutch does itself in it wont be a drama.
  15. looking at getting a tune, injectors and hopefully a Plazmaman front mount shortly, expecting around 260rwkw or so as power levels are always a bit low here in NT with the humidity. I was wondering what the likely hood of the stock clutch holding out with this power level would be. I dont give it hell around town, but it will be at Powercruise in darwin, however if its dragged it will be on stockies so there will not be alot of launching grip and therefore pressure on the clutch. I am planning a clutch upgrade but was just wondering if its going to be needed straight away. Car only has 15000kms so clutch is (I imagine) in good nick.
