  3. I know how ya feel man.. its just heartbraking sometimes. Im trying to save my house deposit but it keeps getting eaten by the car! So it turns out that my auto, rebuilt 6 monthst ago, was full of water. They tell me the cooler in the radiator cracked, & showed me the pink thick shake in the coolant reservior.. I had them flush everything out, coz I'm not spending another $2.5k on the auto... instead I'll start saving for a t56 conversion. As well as the kaaz diff centre, front suspension, and then the engine. She will be a brand new car by the end of 2011 and ill get another 100,00km out of it hopefully!!
  4. thanks guys, it's going to the diff shop today.. fingers crossed that it's not the diff but if it is I'll look at a kaaz, can get a kaaz centre for $1295 plus tax & fitting!!
  5. Cheers Senna that's what Pedders said when they gave it back.. its going to the transmission/diff guy tomorrow so ill know a bit more on tuesday. Hopefully im not up for a new diff... but if I am, what can ya tell me about the kaaz units?? a coupla of mates have em in 383 stroker commodores & rave about them, but I drive the car to work everyday?? Thanks again bud! Craig
  6. Hey guys, I just had pedders replace my diff mount bush and control arm bushes & I think they did some other bushes too... also had sports ryder shocks fitted. I was told the knock/clunk from the rear on gear changes was caused by a shagged diff mount bush, so I spent $1650 having it all replaced & the clunk is still there!! Any ideas as to what it could be?? I had a rubber diff mount bush fitted on pedders' reccomendation as I didnt want added NVH, all other bushes are urethane. Any help would be great on this one as I cant really afford the $900 labor to have it all pulled back out for diagnosis!! Thanks in advance, Craig
  7. What's up???
  8. Is this the Shell Servo on the Todd Rd. exit of the Westgate?? I'll come along for this one, 'bout time I came out & met some of ya!!
  9. Who will be running/organising the event??? I was at the LS1 Nats last month and it was a joke... If HPR Management & Staff are planning the timetable then you will all just be wasting your money!! A friend of mine paid to race at the LS1 event and got 3 passes, we saw some test & tune, and a few rounds of qualifying and that was it, no prize money or trophies were handed out, and it was one big let down... especialy being a Ford fan as as the only XR6 Turbo that raced had issues and didnt even get off the line 1st pass, I missed its 2nd pass but it was back on the trailer after that!?! If it;s being organised by forum members then I'll be there, but only spectating... don't think there's much point racing with a stocky!!!
  10. bfturb & arm79, where do you guys work?? I was pulled up on the corner of Pipe & Hume Rds in the work car (white EL) the other morning when a Force6 went scooting past, you maybe arm79?? Where do you guys get your cars serviced and stuff?? I used to drop mine at HP-F when I was working in Dandenong, got no idea where to take it now, there are so many options I don't know where to start!!
  11. Might have settled on Melton, just waiting to hear back from the bank, if I can buy a place it'll be melton, if not I'll keep looking for a cheap rental! Not working at any tyre joint, I'm driving a truck for Southern States Cold Storage & Distribution, so I get to hang out at Beaurepairs a bit though, they're on Fitzgerald Rd. So Dags, won't quite be out in the Marsh, but not far from it!! Who's comin to my house warming if it happens??? P.S Who drives the ute with the EVLFRD rego plates??? We work in the same street!!
  12. Spotted bionic ute, EVLFRD, parked on the side of Pipe Rd, Laverton Nth, a coupla times lately... I know it's someone here but cant remember the user name???
  13. I've just started a new job in Laverton Nth, or Derrimut I think they call it now, so looking to move out that way. Anyone got any recomendations?? I want something small and cheap, so I've been looking at Sunshine, Altona, Brooklyn and places like that, but the guys at work tell me to stay away? I'm sure there are good and bad areas just like out here, but beggers can't be choosers!! Would be nice to meet a few of ya's too, cos I'm gonna be a fair way away from my friends and family!
  14. Just spotted XRSCAR turning into the carpark at Knox off Burwood Hwy, car looks nuts, soo clean!! P.S. Cheers to whoever fixed my signature!!
  15. Hey guys, Well nothin will be happenin anytime soon. I've been working like mad for 18 months now to save and repay some debts, and thought I would be well on my way. After reading all your advice, I decided to see how much money I had to spend on the car so I could make a start, and it turns out I have none. Went through the books the other weekend and I seem to have gotten nowhere, or at least, not very far. So I start a new job this week, and will look at moving closer to work if it all works out, so I'll be earning more and spending less. But I still have to wait another year before plans get off the ground :( So I have one more question; Would it be worth getting the car tuned without all the mods?? I'm thinking I might be able to get a little bit more power out of it, and maybe enjoy it a little while I'm saving. Will I save a bit of fuel by doing this? Can't realy justify it if I won't... Thanks again for all the help and advice, and sorry for waisting all your time. Cheers, Craig.
  16. I see BEILKIN (spelling??) in FTG alot too, but not for a coupla months? I need custom plates so people will recognise me... Not sure about EXGMH on my XR6 but?!!! Also theres a Phantom XR with Phoon rear wing, & an acid rush with rego# EATV8S or something like that that have been getting around Amberley Cres, between HP-F and Kewish alot lately (I work in the same street) anyone here??
  17. I read about this in Zoom mag, they said it should be on the turbo as well?? What does it atualy do???
  18. My 1st car was an XF Fairmont, paid $800, and sold it for $800 to buy an '87 Skyline. That was a great car, but I only kept it for 12 months, then sold it to but an '83 280ZX, which I wrote off:( Then I bought an '88 VL Calais V8, and blew the motor. Spent $8000 on the rebuild and crashed it 3 months later. I drove around in a $500 VH Wagon for a year while the VL got fixed. Sold the wagon, and 12 months later the VL got written off by a Nissan Patrol (rear ended) and I bought the BA... Had it for 12 months now, and so far no drama's!! I'm aiming to make this one last 5 years, I think I've had enough cars already, I'm only 25, and need to sort out my finacial situation before I think about spending any more money on cars!! So the plan is to keep it and finish paying it off before the mods start! Then when I buy a house I'll think about getting another car too,, so this one can stay in the shed and become my race car, I realy miss the drags!
  19. Yea, I'm not afraid of a bit of hard work!! And more than happy to do what I have to to fix things! But I might occasionaly complain about my situation too!! Just was hoping to be all sorted by the end of the year so I could have a house before I turn 30... Doesn't look like that will happen, but whats one more year hey?!! The other thing I've got going for me is that I'm single now, so no one to spend my money for me!!
  20. Thanks Dillz, & R-SPEC I'm gonna call the bank! and tighten the belt abit more... The governments stimulus pkg will help alot, as will living in the western suburbs away from my family & friends. Alot less opportunity for fun!! I've got 12 months till I can get my semi/double license and earn even more money, so I just have to stick it out till then!
  21. The manifold is probably the biggest restriction in the N/A exhaust... If you're gonna do it though, just do it all!!
  22. I owe $21k on the car, so I would be left paying off $5k on a car that I didn't have, and no $$$ left over to buy another (cheaper) car. Also I will be paying more in rent when I move, cos I've got a realy cheap place atm and I cant find anything that's not at least $25 a week more (yes, that's how bad it is, $25 makes such a difference) but I will save most of that in tolls & fuel. I'm more than happy with my stock car (tune for better economy maybe?) and can maintain it myself, but that means no log book stamping... Would be happy to keep it forever though. I think it might be time to look at debt consolidation?? and just keep the head down for a coupla years. Buying a house also means more ongoing maintanance costs, so even if I could afford repayments, I'd still be pretty hesitant untill I had some decent cash behind me. Will refresh the budget when I have a better idea of how much I will be earning, not sure yet how much I will be working but I'm sure it will be alot!!
  23. I think you'll find the body of the car is the only part that's even remotely related to a commodore... And even that's not the same body that you'll find on your SS road car. Everything is built from scratch, including the chassis, and then has a skin put on it to make it look like a Falcon or a Commodore. I'm actualy amazed that they were using factory components (ie; throttle cable) as late as '07!
  24. I'm 25, renting, and have a personal loan on my BA XR6T (wasn't going with a secured loan) and I'm in way over my head. Untill last week, I was in a $40k a year job, and going nowhere. My job did allow me to form some very good relationships with transport company managers and admin staff, and a couple of weeks ago one of them offered me a job! So Iwent and got a truck license, and tomorrow I start my new career as a truckie! I'm hoping that this allows me to get ahead now, I'd like to pay the car off and start saving for a house deposit, but I was very stupid when I was younger. I blew every cent on cars, drugs, and just having fun. I've cleaned up my act now, and I'm trying very hard to get out of my hole, but when I sat down and looked at what I needed to do, I realised I owed alot of people alot of money, and it's going to take me a very long time. I'd realy like to be able to keep my car, and I stand to lose alot of $$ if I sell it, so I will try very hard to keep making payments at the same time as paying off everything else (& there's alot) but I'm finding it hard enough even to look after it atm. I'd be interested in any advice that anyone has to offer?? My Dad keeps telling me I should keep the car, and I will be driving 120km a day to work and back until I find somewhere closer to live, so having a reasonably young (90,000km) and reliable car is probably a good thing?? Or would it be best to sell and clean up some of the debt??
  25. It was an awesome sounding & looking car:)
