  1. Finally received my ute back a couple of weeks ago but the process still didn't get any smoother. Without saying too much it turns out that the first engine they installed failed on start up and had to be returned and disassembled only to find out that there was metal fragments found under the intake valves! After such an ordeal I have now decided to sell the ute and will never buy a new ford again.
  2. Thanks mate but unlikely to make the cruise on the 7th the ute is still sitting in my yard and my ba is probably too rough now to be turning up at a cruise (still burns clubbies thou). Will likely be selling the ute after it is returned to make way for a new project, XC ute burnout car will keep the engine a mystery for a while.
  3. Not sure how serious they are or if they even know about this thread but it's not new, it's not second hand and I'm not paying a cent
  4. Finally came to an agreement with ford today the details of which are confidential so all I can say is I'm still not happy but I doubt I ever would have been.
  5. Ford finally got back to me but with no change suggesting that a second hand engine was all they were willing to offer, I asked for it in writing and they refused.
  6. Yep have gone through ford customer service centre and have a case manager who promised to call me back, even if it was just to tell me that there was no news I would have thought that they would have the decency to call me when they promised
  7. No surprise that I didn't get a call back from ford Australia today
  8. Sweet thanks mate, can of red paint and should be sweet
  9. It was ford Australia and it was definitely second hand not reconditioned
  10. Ford today called and tried the second hand engine idea WTF! I politely suggested that they need to fix it properly and they said they would get back to me by Wednesday.
  11. The dealership told me that ford were looking at using a second hand motor, after spending some time thinking about this there is no way I will back off at this point and take a second hand engine which could have been abused, poorly maintained, sat in the rain, driven through a flood or even serviced with a aftermarket oil filter. This whole issue has been about the principle and just think how many old lady's or people with no mechanical experience have or will just cop it on the chin.
  12. True but based on previous experience I didn't really expect them to fix it properly. Will not be happy with anything less than a new engine and turbo so this could go on forever.
  13. Very true Jeturbo and now that the engineers report proves my claim Ford are looking at replacing my engine with a second hand unit. I told them that's just not good enough considering that this process has taken over 3 months and has come at considerable cost to me.
  14. You think that's bad check out what they did to my car. Basically the car had a chain guide fail which caused the cams to be out of time allowing the valves to hit the pistons, all they did was correct the timing and sent me home with a engine full of bent valves which later failed. Here is a link to my YouTube vid that proves the valves hit pistons
  15. No mate but I probably should have. After Nuford saw the vid they offered to pay for a independent engineers report which I agreed to, the engineer inspected the engine and sent his report to the dealer on the 18/10. As of now I still have not seen the report but I did speak to the engineer and his verdict was much the same as mine, prior to the dealer getting the report they were going to give me a copy of the report but after receiving it they changed there mind. Still more time has passed and no result apparently Ford Australia are looking at it. If anyone hasn't seen the vid yet here is the link
  16. Ok so my video has been a huge success and somehow Nuford have seen it. With this new info they have now offered to pay for there own engineers report, I dont understand what they think will come of this as I think my video makes it pretty clear that the valves were previously damaged.
  17. Only going to court for the principle as said if I had a half hour I'd just rebuild the whole thing
  18. Yep ford have washed there hands and I too don't think they will have found this but it makes me feel better to let people see what happened. Next stage is court
  19. Here is a link to my demonstration vid of the timing issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKbCUTq-ec8
  20. Haven't posted for a while but there really wasn't much happening as the car wasn't here. Ford finally said no after they made me jump through hoops and the car has finally been brought home. I have now reassembled the head with just two valves and timed the cams two teeth in advance and there is no doubt that the valves are hitting when I turned it over but I was still able to push it past I will try to make a vid tomorrow and post it up to see
  21. I guess it is also possible that when Ford documented that both cams were out by two teeth, they were counting the teeth on the crank which relates to double at the cams or maybe they just miscounted or even lied, but its impossible to deny that the dents on these pistons were from that previous timing issue as the motor has not been touched since. When I get the car back I will reassemble the head lock the lifters (any ideas on how to do this) and try the timing at several different positions with some wax on the pistons
  22. Do you mean camshaft advanced in relation to crank or crank advanced in relation to cams
  23. It all depends on if it was advanced or retarded! mine still lasted 2 years without failing.
