  1. My BF was doing the same, ended up getting the front discs machined. I would be trying this first or at least getting the discs checked to see if they are warped. Pete
  2. Had a look on Ebay, looking at $94.00 including free post. (This a good price, when I bought mine it was just over $100.00 at trade) Very easy to install. FORD MP3 IPOD IN CAR KIT WITH CABLE GENUINE - eBay, Other Car Parts, Accessories, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 13-Jan-10 11:31:01 AEDST) Click the above link. Cheers, Pete
  3. Hi Raging, The problem is you have a well optioned car and unfortunately people often wont pay for the extras second hand. There is an 03/2009 plain XR6T Auto(no options)in Silver with 6500KLMS, he has had it on carsales for several weeks and is currently asking $37,500. I would have thought this would sell really quickly but hasn't. Maybe the market is just a little flat due to interest rates being talked up. Keep positive and keep advertising, anything above the offered trade is a bonus. Pete
  4. Raging, What are the details on your car. Age, klms, auto/man, options etc. You will get more private but agree it can be a real pain, it will also depend what is for sale at the same time. (carsales.com etc) Subject to time restraints, even try private for a couple of weeks and see what bites you get. Good luck.
  5. Normally you would remove the rear bar but you can do it with out, when I put mine on (bought of ebay) we put the car up on some ramps, removed the plastic screw things from under the bumper cut out and put the towbar in place from underneath. You then install the four bolts and you are done. I then got a towbar harness from super cheap and wired into the loom on the driver side that is designed for a tow bar harness.(this is behind the trim in the boot area) Cheers.
  6. Hi Kalto, I did this for my brother a couple of years ago. purchased a car in Melbourne (where I am) and drove it to S.A. where he is. I purchased the car private, handed in the reg plates and purchased a fourteen day permit then once it was in S.A. my brother took the car in to the reg office, payed the stamp duty and twelve months reg. When I was in the car trade it was quite common for people to buy WRX turbo's from us and drive then interstate on permits. Once they got home they would have the car inspected, pay the applicable stamp duty and registration fee. Very easy process. Pete
  7. Another insurance company worth trying would be youi.(www.youi.com.au) I was getting some quotes on a BF XR6T and they were not bad.
  8. Would suggest you do a bit of research on what is available second hand privately with very low klms. (carsales, drive etc) Go to the dealer and tell them you are looking for a very low klm car or would buy new for the right price as the car you are looking at buying privately is not the number one color pick etc. You could also let them know you are buying as part of a car allowance through work and your budget allows say $45K and anything above this you would need to find and put in in cash which you don't really want to do. If the dealer doesn't bite, go to another one. (Its all a game and one I don't miss. I was a car salesperson for six years) Good luck ! Pete
  9. There have also been some relatively cheap G6E Turbos on carsales .com of late. (cars under ten thousand klms old for low 40K being sold privately) Starting to think this is the way to go instead of a fully optioned XR6T Pete
  10. I am running a BF that I put a set of HID globes into for the inner high beam lights approx 12 months ago. Best thing I ever did. we do a lot of friday night drives two hours out of Melbourne and have had my fair share or near hits to wombats & roo's. I put the 6000K globes in and when you go to high beam the light is fantastic. I drive a company car and putting a set of driving lights etc on the car was not an option. installation was fairly easy with no major problems. Cheers, Pete
  11. Hi Nige, I would think you first need to find a car that is applicable under the program. Would suggest you can probably purchase this unregistred and on a fourteen day permit, from what I can remember you would not have paid stamp duty at this stage. Drive the car to NSW, have it inspected, pay the rego and stamp duty. I did a similar thing for my brother a couple of years ago, we bought a Honda in Victoria where I live un registered and on a 14 day permit. I then drove the car to S.A where he had it inspected by the S.A. road transport autority, paid rego and paid the stamp duty. Speak to your roads authority in NSW for clarification. Hope this helps. Cheers, Pete
  12. Hi guys, Just wondering of those that have this color if you are happy with your choice. (wanting to get an idea of how susceptible to scratches, if it is easy to keep clean or does it show every bit of dirt etc) Cheers for your input. Pete
  13. I think ultimately like everything it is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it on a given day. (He is advertising on carsales and will see how it goes) Cheers, Pete
  14. Not a lot of options but a very clean example, it is also an 11/03 Pete
  15. Hi Guys, A mate of mine has just upgraded to a BF Typhoon and is looking at selling his car. it is a 2003 white XR6T auto with 53,000klms. one owner mainly used by his wife to get from Bendigo to Melbourne every few weeks or when they go away on weekends. car has not been moded apart from a Monza intercooler. I said I would ask the question to see what you forum members thought he should be asking for it. cheers, Pete
  16. Thanks guys, appreciate all the info. Pete
  17. Hi guys, What is the best way to check if an RSpec is genuine and not a mock up of a standard typhoon. There is an RSpec in QLD on carsales with very low klms (2200) but is blue in color (Conquer). I didn't think this color was available of the 300 built. Build number is 210 Cheers, Pete
  18. Sorry for not responding, I was off air for a couple of days. Great to hear the change over went ok, I'm sure like me your lovin' the new wheel. Cheers, Pete

    Engagement Ring

I knew roughly what my wife wanted but we still went and picked a stone from a mate of mine who is a jeweller. If you can get away with going just under a carat it is a good decision, once over, the price goes a bit crazy. We new it would have to be made as the "minister for war" only has rose gold jewellery. (we looked at different settings, band width, height the stone should sit etc, etc, etc.) It was still a surprise when I gave it too her as she thought it would be several weeks off. As far as what to spend, I could have bought a brand new TTR-250 with full riding gear and extras, instead she got a ring. (something I remind her of when she gives me the s...s) Good luck. Pete
  20. I'm on 20mg of Nexium and it works well, as long as I take it each day. How long since you had a gastroscopy?, I haven't had one for several years but finally did after my brother was diagnosed with Barret's syndrome (a prelude to cancer of the asofygas). My father died from this back in 1975 so there is a family history. This is something you need to keep on top of and maybe go see a specialist if your current doctor is not giving you any answers. (please excuse some of the spelling) Cheers, Pete
  21. That was good of your father in law to lend your car out, perhaps you should borrow his and return the favour. (Go find some high gutters and practise your reverse parking) Apart from the above, get the wheel and tyre replaced and send him a copy of the invoice. If it is a company car, am I right in presuming you can claim this under repairs and maintenance as far as being a legitimate deduction at the end of financial year, still not the point though really. Understand your anger............
  22. Just an update guys........... I found out through some web surfing that the main bolt needs a T-50 torx bit to release. I picked up one of these bits from total tools for approx $12.00 As previously stated, very easy job to change the wheel, and could be done in 5-10 minutes max. Very happy with the end result. Cheers, Pete
  23. Hi Guys, Just wondering if any one knows the correct size Torx bit to remove the main steering wheel bolt. pulled the airbag apart yesterday but realised I didn't have a big enough Torx bit to remove the main bolt. (was going to fit the sports wheel I bought of ebay) If I can find the size I'll go buy one, rather than a whole set. Cheers, Pete
  24. Would have to agree Dan, I was looking at this add yesterday and thought the same thing. I am in the process of trying to go from company car to car allowance and would definitely be a starter if it was ready to go. Pete
  25. Fantastic read Mat and great photos, definitely one place I would love to go and see (and drive) Have also seen lots of videos and read about the M5 "Taxi", something I would also like to experience. Pete
