shunt is more of an issue with manuel right? With my auto ute I never noticed it, or is it just because its an ute?
-
I have decided, I will go for a BF auto model. I will go and test the water on pricing next time I am free. Thanks for the help people.
-
Yeah, that's where I got the idea. I was just looking for a replace ute (damn they are a few grands cheaper compared to when I bought my old one) and nothing was in stock apart from a tornado demo. I didn't even know that Ford made one. Found out the price difference and compared it to a typhoon. Haven't been able to drive one yet, so I am just waiting to see if the 6speed auto is coming out. If its coming out for sure after this week's annoucement. I will go for a test drive.

Is the internal of the F6 engine different from the T? Yeah I will do some more homework on the car.
-
Hi all, Its been awhile seen I been on here. Good to see some amazing time has been achieved by the forum members. I just sold my ute last week. So should I or shouldn't I go for a typhoon? What price has you paid for it? What is a good price to get? I thinking a white typhoon with dark tinted window, mmm, its going to look great.

banning is not the way to go. I believe in better driver education. So bring on the another class of license for vehicle with floor clearance of a certain height(200mm?) that will cover all off road 4wd. it seem to be a lot of people drive off-road 4wd due to the fact that they lack driving ability. Trying to get all the help can by either the higher seating postion or if I crash I am not going to get hurt as bad. That is just WRONG, if you can't drive, stay off the road. Its too easy to pass the driving test here. Should have system like Germany, theory and partical exam. you must have 15 lessons for both, if you fail, you have to wait for a month and after 3 goes you have to wait 6months before you are allowed to sit the exam again.

I just got myself a canon 300d, love it. I always wanted a SLR and with the digital, its a bonus. It is a trade up from the sony digital I have been using for the past 4 years with no zoom, and flexibility of zoom over my existing film camera. I am planning to take it to the brisbane motor show when I get time. It should be fun to see what it is like.

Paranormal, Thanks for the info. I have tried most thing you said, to no success. I will try and ping my desktop instead of the router and see what happens. Right now the laptop is using windows login, should I change it to microsoft network. Will post result later.

I have just spoke to Australian tech support. He told me that they have had problems with using PC card and windows 98. They have not been able to pin point where the problem is. It reckon its got something to do with the my laptop. I have tired both using DHCP and hardcoding, DHCP doesn't work at all. hardcoding will get a connection but not able to ping the router. I reckon it must be a driver or software compatiability issue. I give up, I just have to live with cat5 cable for now. I have also setup a home network using XP as the router and connect Windows 98 to it, but it is not wireless. Thanks for all the help.
-
when I say software, I mean programs, such as internet explorer and Windows. I know Windows 98 does not support wireless protocal. Edit - I have just realise I should update my windows with serice pack since I reinstalled it. will report once I done that
-
I think I have isolated the problem. It seem to be that the anything but the software supplied by the company will not work with the wireless card. So I am putting it down to compatibility issue. The card has a 100% strength signal and is connected to the router. Just not able to send or receive data.
-
as far as I can tell, the PC card seem to be working fine. I used the driver supplied in the box. I am not too sure if my laptop can handle XP. Not enough resource. I will call the Australian tech support tomorrow. Call the tech support and got divered to USA and it was basically someone going through the manual with me.

an update Sort out the outlook express problem. All I had to do is type in the mail server's full address. I went to the extreme and formated the hardrive. Reinstalled the wireless network card. same problem, no ping. I hook the laptop up using network cable, it worked like a charm. I also tried the same wireless card on my friend's XP laptop. no problem at all, worked like a charm. So I think its going to either the laptop is running some sort of firewall/block that I don't know about. I am getting packets back from pinging, therefore this shouldn't apply. or maybe problems with TCP stack config(this one is beyond me)? thanks richdave, I am currently looking through the site. might try pinging from both side to see if that works. By the way I don't think I have mentioned my system. I am running Windows 98 second edition.

I have got the 192.168.0.1 set as the IP address for the router. The laptop is trying to connect to the router instead of the desktop. I got the feeling it something to do with transmitting of the data. When I try to ping the router most of the time it just timed out. Sometimes I will receive one packet. I am running out of ideas.

I just brought a Netgear wireless router. I got my desktop connect to the router via network cable. everything is fine there. The problem I am having is when I try to connect my laptop via wireless pc card, I can't get the internet to work. It seem to me that I could get a connection between the laptop and the router, but just can't get the internet to work. I also try to access the router by typing in the IP address of the router in the address bar. No success either. I have set my internet connection for the laptop the same as the desktop to "automatic configuration". Every setting is same between the two apart from the laptop I assigned an IP address to it, otherwise I was getting weird IP address. Any tips? thanks in advance I have no idea about computers at all. EDIT: now my outlook express doesn't work either. I think I will need to type in a new mail server. Do I just put my router's IP address there? By the way I am with telstra cable.

I am used to a turbo diesal, so the only thing that piss me off is that when towing the fuel consumption doubles or triples. I am not sure if this apply to xr8. The speed sure makes up the difference.
-
I know what the difference is now. In my calculation of the novated lease, I forgot to add the residual value, $20,000. Once the residual value is added, the difference between the two is not so great. More things for me to consider now.
-
mmm, very interesting. I was thinking private use only. The term was going to be 36 months. I have been following all the leasing threads therefore got some ideas about it. Maybe it will be good for me to ask more indepth with my accountant why he thinks cash is better. I will try and argue with him based on the info I got here. I will post anything I find out.
-
just a question, if you have the full amount in cash would it be better to paid cash or do novated lease? My view was that (I am just assuming here) paid cash - you would have already paid tax on it therefore it would cost you alot in pre-tax dollar. $50,000 car and at 48.5% tax rate. the car is cost you close to $100,000. but you save on the interest payment. novated lease - you paid everything with pre-tax dollar so you save on tax, but you have to pay interest. using the novalease calculator - payment is @25000 a year so the car is cost you pre-tax $75000 in total. I have asked my accountant about it, he always told me if you have the cash, buy it with cash. but my research it looks like novated lease is a better deal. does anyone else can offer their view on this.

I was been told load rating has to be maintain, too. speed rating can be changed. Load rating is depended on the weight your car is design for. so using lower load rating tyre is dangerus. whereas speed will only matter if you are planning on racing.

yeah I got a dent on the door, due to a little girl open her car door and smash it into mine. I was loading stuff onto the back of the ute, didn't even know until her mum comes around and told me about it. at least she had the decentcy to tell me about it. she offered to paid, but I say don't worry about it. it was going to happen soon or later.
