  1. Grant: Just tell me where you'll be lurking and I'd love to come and have a look! richdave: The plates are XR 600 (two letters/3 numbers is the easiest combination in the ACT .. and XR 666 was taken already, sadly!).
  2. Heh. I've got tentative delivery on the 20th, so it should be here in time for Christmas. And I've had confirmation that I'll have the first silhouette XR6 in Canberra (and my custom rego plates have been accepted too!).
  3. And I've just been told by my dealer that the car is on the line. ** does the Dance of Joy! **
  4. How about neither? (There's always one, isn't there?). I'm quite happy with getting an NA XR6. I love the look of the car and I know that I'd never really get a chance to drive the Turbo or a V8 properly, so I'm happy not to be tempted. I'd rather spend the money on other stuff than speeding fines or insurance claims if I crash into things!
  5. I've been brainwashed sufficiently... "Coke is Life!"
  6. Whoops. I voted and then realised its for Turbos and I'm only getting an NA XR6. But news from Davo is that the build date is tentatively set for... TOMORROW! WooHoo.
  7. Don't know if I'll upgrade. I'll have to see what the situation is.
  8. I'm looking forward to mine, even if its not a Turbo. Though, there is a small part of me that wants to find out if I switch my order to a Turbo, if it'll lose its place in the production queue.
  9. One thing to be careful of is using Ford trademarks on unapproved stickers. The problem here is that you shouldn't use the "proper" XR6 logo or Ford logo or else you could get sued for copyright infringement.
  10. Personally, I'm not sticking anything on the back of my Beast. I've even told the dealer that if they stick one of those dealer decals on my car I'd cancel my order. I hate those freaking things. That said, I'm happy to help out with the design. Unfortunately, my notebook hard-drive decided that it had done enough work for one lifetime and kakked itself yesterday, so I'm stuck on my old PC for a while. Hopefully, I'll get it back up and running this week.
  11. I sit comfortably corrected. I knew the clearance was different with one of the models.
  12. The Turbo is slightly lower to the ground than the standard XR6, IIRC. Something like 20mm or so.
  13. I'd forgotten about HowStuffWorks.com! Great suggestion, thanks.
  14. Ok, so I pretty much know how the internal combustion engine works (in theory, don't ask me to actually fix anything!), but I have no idea how a Turbo actually provides more power to the car itself. Anyone want to try and explain in nice simple words? :D

    I'm New Here !

I don't even want to know how the hell you got your car so quickly, bwashington. I ordered my NA XR6 on the 6th November and I'm only expecting it late-December, early-January. Bastard! But I mean that in the nicest possible way, of course.
  16. I saw another XR6 today, this time in Blueprint... very good looking. But, even though seeing cars on the road makes me jealous, I'm glad I held out and ordered exactly what I wanted instead. That way I'll enjoy the car even more!

Nope. You need to order it (its about $30, IIRC), but they can fit it anytime. can you install it yourself? Dunno, didn't ask that much! I figure for $30, they may as well install it when they install the audio system itself.

  19. Saw my first XR6 on the road this morning -- and it was the car I test-drove at my dealer! :-) White with standard sound. Poor bugger obviously really wanted an XR6 fast!

Basically, its just a stereo jack input into the AUX of the Premium Sound. So you can hookup an MP3 walkman or something like that. For those of you who ARE looking at doing that, take a look at Sony's range of NetMD players. They're MiniDisc players (so they're nice and small), but they can play MP3s off the MiniDisc, so you can still put heaps of music onto one disc.

No, the screen is the same, but there is a VDO Dayton SatNav system in place behind the Premium colour LCD screen (with the DVD drive in the boot of the car). Its that unit I'm going to see if I can manipulate.

Actually, I'll be interested to see what's possible with the DVD Satellite Navigation option. Considering the VDO Dayton unit they use is able to accept incoming video in its normal incarnation...
  23. Mine still hasn't started production, but Ford estimate completion mid to late December. *sigh* So.. that should put it somewhere in February at this rate. Though, its only an NA XR6, so that should speed things up a bit.

I got the Premium, primarily because its required for the DVD Satellite Navigation system, but also because of the in-dash 6-CD stacker. Can anyone confirm that the Premium ships with 11 active speakers (10 in the car + Sub on parcel tray)?
  25. IT WON!!! WooHoo!! :-) Now I'm damn glad I ordered mine a few weeks ago. The waiting lists on the XR6 are just going to get longer and longer!
