  1. Oooh.. that's pretty.

Here are those details, if you're interested in using my server: Server: irc.djelibeybi.net Channel: #fordxr6turbo Otherwise, just click here for the web-based chat client. This is firewall-friendly and should work through almost all corporate firewalls.

You guys are more than welcome to start an IRC channel up on my IRC server (irc.djelibeybi.net) -- you can even use the nifty web-based IRC client at http://www.djelibeybi.net/cgiirc/irc.cgi Or not. Up to you. Edited to add that this isn't an Official Type Channel or anything .. its just that I have an IRC server sitting around doing basically bugger all most of the time, so somebody may as well use it.
  4. Well, everything's controlled by the firmware, so it should be a pretty simple process to include things like MP3 playback and CD-Text support. I'm not sure who the actual manufacturer of the audio system is, but the Satellite Navigation is an integrated VDO Dayton unit.
  5. Oh, poot. Chalk something else up that should be added to the ICC/Audio Firmware upgrade.
  6. Hey gang, especially those who already have their XR6s with Premium Sound: Do you know if the system supports displaying CD-Text information? I.E. If the CD has CD-Text, does the ICC display the CD/Track/Artist names?
  7. Nice ute. I found it in seconds. *grin*
  8. So, in honour of my first drive in the XR6, I've compiled a CD of (what I consider) cool driving songs. Yes, there are a whole bunch of different genres here and I didn't even get to add some of the heavy metal stuff I wanted (that'll go onto the second CD!)... take a look, let me know what you think and tell us what YOUR favourite driving music is! Atomic Kitten - The Tide is High Barenaked Ladies - One Week Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn & Diane Keaton - You Don't Own Me Bon Jovi - Bed of Roses Daft Punk vs. Fatboy Slim - Around the World & Praise You Depeche Mode - Behind the Wheel (Route 66 Megamix) Dolly Parton - Jolene Full Frontal - You Think You're a Man Golden Earring - Radar Love Guns 'n' Roses - November Rain Kasey Chambers - Not Pretty Enough Linkin Park - The Untitled (In the End) Mary Mary - Shackles (Praise You) Nena Simone - Falling in Love Again Placebo - Every You, Every Me Ram Jam - Black Betty Rufus Wainwright - Hallelujah Shakira - Objection (Tango)
  9. I ordered my XR6 in black, but I'm pretty sure I'm insane, so that's ok. Seriously, the XR6 is one of the only cars I'd consider getting in white -- it still looks awesome. I particularly didn't choose Acid Rush, Blueprint or Phantom as I knew they'd be the far more popular colours and I wanted one that didn't quite stand out as much. Having said that, I figure go with the colour choice you like looking at the most and work out the cleaning problems afterwards.
  10. The MOMO wheel has coloured inserts, the Sports wheel looks like the standard one, except its chunkier with better moulded grips. Otherwise, congratulations! Good purchase!
  11. Awesome shots, CJF -- now I can see where your board username comes from.
  12. Its going to be weird enough getting used to being in a low car again after 4 years in a 4WD... there ain't no way I'm gonna lower the car any more! Though, the most fun I had was driving an old BMW 333i (real old shape) that had been modified for racing. I swear, that thing couldn't have been more than about 5cm off the road. Freaky.
  13. bdennis: Make sure you set the correct network in Logo Manager before SMS'ing. The logo replaces the standard *network* logo, so if you send it as an Optus logo and the destination mobile is on MobileNet (for example), the logo won't show up.

    Xr6t Questions

I've ordered the DVD Satellite Navigation in my XR6 (which should arrive in a few days) and I know that's full colour for map rendering and stuff. I believe its the same size as the Premium Sound screen, but I'll post pictures of the map display once I've got it!
  15. Particularly if the run starts in Brisbane, goes through Sydney picking up the Sydneysiders, joins up with the Canberrans and ends with a major convoy along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. Sweet. All round sweet.
  16. This is going to be more difficult than I imagined. I can't find a MIDI version of that song anywhere, so until I do, no ringtone from me, I'm afraid. Can anyone get hold of the sheet music perhaps? I could whip up a MIDI version from that.
  17. And besides, being the IT geeks means we're in charge of the firewalls, so we get free access. I'm actually working-from-home today -- I love DSL and VPNs.
  18. Heh. Can I see your build permits for that?
  19. Heh, I'll meet you guys on the Hume as you pass Canberra...
  20. Name: Avi Age: 27 Sex m/f: Male Location city/state: Canberra ACT Occupation: Business Solutions Architect/Technical Services Manager Currently drive: '98 Explorer LTD (Soon: '02 Silhouette XR6) Married: In LTR (5.5 years and counting).
  21. Does anyone know what the proper name of the "Can't Get Enough of This" song used in the new Falcon adverts is? And who performs it? I'm trying to find a copy to turn it into a mobile phone ringtone.
  22. I would venture a guess: Until more than 2 people have XR6 Turbos. Unlike l'il ol' me, who should be in his NA XR6 by this time next week!

Where are the speakers in the rear of the vehicle then? On the parcel shelf?

Each of the four doors I believe, but I could be wrong.
  25. What its meant to do is calculate the effect of road noise inside the cabin and adjust the audio properties to counteract the white noise. However, what it really does is make quiet bits louder and loud bits quieter using pretty basic wavelength clipping -- which results in the high and low ends of your music being clipped too, usually. With volume controls on the steering wheel, I plan just to manually adjust as required.
