  1. No, it doesn't. There is a dedicated DVD drive in the boot, under the parcel shelf. Its a little tricky to get the disc in and out (because of the cover), but its well-hidden! This is a known fault with the satellite navigation (they were delivered without a pre-amp). Ford are releasing a technical bulletin to fix this fault soon. I have some pics of the Satellite Navigation somewhere. I'll post them when I find them.
  2. The satellite navigation is great. I'm really glad I got it. Its DVD-driven, so the whole of Australia is on one disc. You can enter an address anywhere and it'll route you from your current location.
  3. Pretty sure. All my timezone information is correct. However, the software doesn't calculate daylight savings particularly intelligently (it was written in and for the northern hemisphere), so its not surprising that the time is slightly out. Just play with the timezone and the DST checkbox until the time displayed is the same as your local time. The post times will then line up on the board itself.
  4. The server time was initially set incorrectly, so that has been adjusted. Check your own time settings under "My Controls" --> Board Settings. It shows you what the system thinks your current time is. If its an hour out, use the "Daylight Savings Time" checkbox to get it correct.

    Sat Nav

You can't watch DVD movies with it. The DVD-ROM contains map and GPS data only. There is no MPEG engine in the RISC processor (which is built into the DVD drive itself, in the boot). Also, the output of the Navigation system is in NTSC/RGB and is the wrong size and format to support full-motion DVDs.
  6. I need one of those for my boyfriend too.
  7. Yeah, I got a free 3-year extension on my warranty from John McGrath Ford in Canberra.
  8. My lease company has given me a Shell card and has requested that I only use Optimax. I'm happy with that.
  9. Yeah, my plates make me pretty obvious too... But I finally came to the conclusion that even if I did like stickers on cars (which I don't), the idea of putting a FordXR6Turbo sticker on a non-Turbo just seems a little odd. Perhaps if Chris went out and registered FordXR6.com as well, and made THOSE stickers, I'd be more interested.
  10. Yeah, except mine got pulled fully open under the carpet lining. I didn't even know it was there. You couldn't actually see the cord or tag unless you knew it was there. So I thought something was wrong with the locking mechanism. Oh, well. Live and learn.
  11. Ok, so Ford think of everything, right? They've even got this nifty little thing in the boot that allows you to release the petrol tank flap manually. Its a wire with a little tag on the end. Well, not quite. You see, the little tag has a little piece of velcro on it too. And, this little tag with its little piece of velcro can get stuck to the carpet lining. So, if you start packing your boot with stuff, snag the tag on a bag or something and then get the tag to snag to the carpet -- BOOM! Permanently open petrol tank! However, in my defence, the guy at my local Ford dealer who looked at it on Tuesday morning is also a moron. As is the doofus who was supposed to order a new catch mechanism on Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday. Eventually, when I was asked to bring my car in for another look because the doofus was off today, the Service Manager spotted the tag under the carpet lining and said, "I think I know an easier fix." Oh, well. At least its fixed.
  12. No, Ford deleted it, safety concern or some such thing. My XR6 has a left foot-rest thing. Its basically a piece of plastic somehow attached to the floor of the car, but its there nonetheless.
  13. My car is now averaging 14.1 -- but I only do city driving, so I'm sure its going to climb back up to 15. *sigh* .. I really need to start driving up to Sydney every weekend or something.
  14. The catch on the fuel tank broke on mine, leaving my fuel tank open and unlocked all weekend. Yay, not. Took it back to the dealer this morning and they're ordering a replacement catch.
  15. I have the entire MING range installed/applied on my XR6 and it was pretty reasonable. I got the works installed for $1500 (Full window tint side/back non-metallic, paint protection, fabric protection, vinyl protection, rust proofing and sound proofing). I figured that I may as well get the works because the car is leased and if I didn't get the dealer to do it before they gave the car to me, I'd never want to part with the car to get it all installed later.
  16. You can. Check http://www.myford.com.au for details.

    Prestige Paint

You can get Silhouette in either plain or prestige. I got mine in Prestige which adds a metallic "sparkle" to the paint.
  19. With all the other crises in Canberra atm, I'm going to wait until my 3000km check-up and definitely mention it there, unless it does it again -- in which case, its straight to the dealer!
  20. Yeah, mine started around 15.9 for the first 1000km. Then I drove to Sydney and back, and its down to 13.4 now. I expect it to continue dropping until it reaches around 12.5 or so.
  21. I have to agree -- I think anything bigger than the standard XR wing would overwhelm the back end of the car. I've also considered removing the wing completely (I'm not a mad fan of them), but I do like the LED brake lights.
  22. Not yet. I'm going to call my dealer again (though being in Canberra, I might wait until some of the bushfire crisis is over first) and organise for it to be fixed.
  23. I drove a 1.8 manual Focus for a day while my XR6 was getting the last of its rust/sound proofing applied and the Aux Audio input installed. I hadn't realised quite how powerful the XR6 is until I had to suffer a day with the Focus. Though, to be honest, its a nice car, pretty easy to drive. It has a decent amount of power for its size and its real easy to park. I found the interior to be functional but nowhere as nice as the Falcon range (go figure). For its price bracket, its alright, but I haven't really looked around at whatever competition it has.
  24. Yeah, but remember I don't have a Turbo -- just a normal NA XR6. I figured it would be the heat, but it honestly felt like one of the sparks wasn't firing.
  25. Ok, here's the story: I had to rush up to Sydney (from Canberra) on Friday afternoon for some emergency work at a client. Nothing wrong there, beautiful drive -- on cruise almost the entire way and managed to drop my fuel consumption average from 15.5L to 14.3L. On Saturday (the day of immense heat), the car was sitting outside the client's premises for a good six hours. When I got back in at around 3:30pm and started it, the entire car started shuddering and it was having a lot of problems just idling. I figured it was the heat and drove off, but the car had less power than a scooter so I got really concerned. Pulled into the first servo I could find ('cos my mobile phone's battery was dead and I needed to find a public phone to call Roadside Assistance). Damn servo I chose didn't have a phone, so I went back to the car. This time, when I started it, everything was fine and it drove like a dream again. The drive back to Canberra then dropped my fuel consumption average to 13.4L. So... did the heat cause the shuddering and I shouldn't worry? Or should I worry even though the car seems fine now?
