  1. Thanks for that! I've added LSD to my order, but apparently you can't get traction control on a standard XR6, which is a tad annoying.
  2. Ok, total newbie question: I've ordered a normal XR6, without either traction control or limited slip diff. Could someone please explain what these things are (in non-motorhead words, if possible) and which ones are available on the XR6 and which ones I should seriously consider ordering?
  3. Exactly. I'll be sure and take pictures of the satnav system for you guys in the BA XR6 when it arrives -- and I'll even try and make an MP3 of the "In 400m, turn left" voices. :-)

    Woo Hoo

... which is why I'm glad I went with Silhouette and prestige paint. At the moment, its the only one on order in Canberra.
  5. Actually, I am serious. I'm not that into high speed as much as comfort and driving fun. And the XR6 has enough of both. If I had the Turbo, I'd either pay way too many speeding fines, or wrap myself around a tree. By not going with the Turbo, I was able to get the Satellite Navigation installed, which is something I've always wanted!
  6. Heh. Ok, I'm not depressed anymore. Actually, now I'm glad I went with the normal XR6 instead of the Turbo. ;-) BTW, is there anyone here who can check on progress based on the SIDO number? I don't want to keep calling my dealer every day!
  7. Now I'm depressed. My SIDO is 325815. They're still hoping for a pre-Christmas delivery though (its a NA XR6).
  8. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I was wondering if anyone knew if the front fog lights on the XR6 are linked to the high beams, or if they can be turned on/off independently?
  9. Yeah, I saw that, but considering I don't have kids, nor am I likely to get any in the forseeable future, I figured it wasn't worth it. :-) I may do a little research on the VDO Dayton unit that's installed and see if there's any way of hooking up an external player to the LCD screen itself.
  10. Sat Nav is $3,600 factory fitted. I chose that over an upgrade to the Turbo, firstly because I'm a geek and I love the idea of in-car navigation and mainly because I had enough trouble staying under the speed limit in the normal XR6 that having the Turbo would cost me a fortune in speeding fines. <grin> The navigation system is a modified VDO Dayton MS5000/MS6000 (not quite sure). Its DVD-based, not CD, so you get the whole of Australia on a single disc. No need to change as you move from state to state. Also, I think Ford have removed some of the base VDO features (like the ability to use the LCD as a normal TV).
  11. I said I liked them, not that I actually got to do it very often. ;-)
  12. Yeah, I chose Silhouette too because I think it'd look downright scary coming up in someone's rear-view mirror. ;-) Also, I'm told it'll be the first silhouette XR6 in Canberra and with all tinted windows, should be quite unique.
  13. Chalk up another IT geek. I'm Technical Services Manager of an IT company in Canberra, providing support for Fed. Govt agencies. I'm 27, I like long walks on the beach, romantic dinners and sequential shift gearboxes. My favourite colour is silhouette and because I'm male, I ordered the satellite navigation so I'll never have to ask for directions again. :-)
  14. Hey guys, I ordered a new BA XR6 (not the turbo though) last week. Should be the first black XR6 to hit the streets of Canberra, apparently. Hope you guys don't think too badly of me for not getting the Turbo model. :-) I have a question that I'm wondering if anyone here might know the answer to: I ordered the DVD Satellite Navigation (with Premium Sound) and I know the DVD drive is in the boot, but no-one at the dealership or Ford has been able to tell me if the car will come with the first "set" of maps (I.e. one DVD or more). I know I have to keep them up-to-date from whereis.com.au. Anyway, the dealership is hoping for a pre-Christmas delivery on my XR6, but I'm doubtful.
