I am a guy and I still don't like washing cars. That's why I have a boyfriend.

I'm getting a black XR6, so I'm not about to put black leather and burn my skin off! I've had leather seats before (the current Explorer has leather) and I'm not a mad fan. I like the Plexis Grey enough to go with that and spend the money elsewhere (did I mention I'm getting Sat Nav? <grin>).

Heh. I'm actually thinking of trading in the boyfriend's crappy Magna and getting him a Focus. Something to keep the big guy happy and out of my XR6.

Yeah, this is why I was hoping for a Dummy's "Insert Cable from Mobile Phone Kit Here" option, which handled all of that (like routing the antenna via the window-based antenna to avoid the scanning noise and auto-muting and all that crap). Oh, well. I have volume controls on the steering wheel and a headset. That'll have to do!

Sorry, I meant I don't think my Silhouette XR6 has started production yet. But that's exactly the look I was going for, so I'm glad to hear it!

Well, I don't give a crap about AM reception, as I don't listen to AM radio if I can possibly help it. But I have checked out the tint and it is definitely non-metallic, BA-approved stuff.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I've test-drived the XR6 twice already (same car) and the noise level is pretty low. Couple that with the speed-sensing audio system and it should be good to go. And, if I cancel the protection options, I should get the car that much earlier.

You're overestimating my enjoyment of washing a car, as pretty as the XR6 is. Also, I'm only getting the NA XR6 (not Turbo), so the sound issue isn't that important. The cost overall doesn't make a huge impact on the overall price, but it does add a delay to delivery. Do the cars come with any sort of protection at all?

Ok, so my dealer offered me full protection on my new car and its the Ming range of products: Paint Protection, Rust Proofing, Fabric Protection, Vinyl Protection, Sound Deadener/Dust Sealant, Window Tint. At this stage, I've ordered the whole package, but as its a dealer option, I could cancel/change it at any time. I'm wondering if you guys could give me some advice on this. Good? Bad? Avoid? Must have? I really want to protect my investment (!) as much as possible and keep the resale value as high as possible. Thanks!

I was hoping for a more integrated system where the sound system knows about the phone and vice versa (I.e. "Phone" shows up in the display or something like that). I know on my old Sony headunits, there was a mobile phone jack at the back for various kits and I was thinking along those lines.

Does anyone know if the Premium Sound back has any mobile phone handsfree connectivity? For example, can one connect a kit up to use the built-in speakers? And mute the audio when the phone rings?

Basically, I'm a lazy sod and I like the service I get from my "local" dealer who's been servicing my Explorer for the past two years. I'm also pretty loyal to places I get decent service from.

Thanks for the help, guys. Saw an Acid Rush XR6 delivered to my dealer this afternoon. No Silhouette XR6 on the truck though, sadly. Don't even think its hit production yet. *sigh* But at least you guys have made me happier about my choices of options!

This is why someone invented car washes. Though, I'm told by my dealer that the fabulous all-singing, all-dancing, practically bullet-proof paint protection I ordered will allow me simply to hose the car down to remove the dirt. Um... yeah. See that bridge over there? Its for sale. Going cheap! :lol:

Ok, so while I have your attention... :-) Normal vs. Premium Brakes. There are some threads about what the premium brakes actually are, but are they really worth an additional $3000? Again, what are the specific benefits (I guess, besides stopping faster!).

I've seen a few XR6s at the dealer I ordered mine from. I test drove a white one, they also had a blueprint XR6. Went there yesterday to get my Explorer serviced and they've added a Phantom XR6 to the line-up as well as an Acid Rush Fairmont Ghia. And that acid rush is not an easy colour to ignore. I figure you'll see one coming up a mile away.

Well, I like them because they light up the sides of the road, so I can look for oncoming wildlife! And it means they don't come on and off as I adjust the high beams.

Poor dude's going to get swamped! Give us Ford Credit customers first go.. :lol: (BTW, if someone is able and willing to find out delivery dates from a SIDO number, mine is 325815 )

Could someone PM me a contact at Ford I can provide my SIDO number to and get an update or should I just continue to harass my dealer?

Heh. Well, my dealer said... :lol: I think you can only get LSD on the NA XR6 (even the Ford website doesn't list TC as an option). Thus, I have whacked it onto my order. And, I'm busy investigating custom plates for the l'il beastie (but I'm not telling you what, in case you all rush out and get them first! I know the one I want is still available!).

I have one word to say: YUM. :-) I'm so glad I ordered Premium Sound.

Yeah, I'm not too disappointed I can't get traction control. The LSD will be handy though.
