  1. I`m with you, Brandon. I`m on compo now so the next safety meeting I`ll have a starring role. Still, I`d hate something to go south if your car was on the dyno at full noise. Poor old Steve O after the show hosing dead punters off the besser block wall. However, as I stated in my original post, I`M 100 percent sure Paul, Tim and Steve are aware of every possible contingency and will take the appropiate action to ensure the safety of all who attend.
  2. Colder nights??
  3. I`m walking out my front door and heading to where the main action is, my guess is there will be people at this event parked outside my house.
  4. Safety. If it was me. If my name was on the public liabilty policy. No one would be within 20 feet of even Tim`s Dihatsu on the dyno without proper PPE. Personal Protective Equipment. I wonder that a CCTV set up would be the go? Food for thought, I`m not in a postition to tell people what to do. I keep thinking of that tailshaft coming out from under that Cifiro. But I`m not at all concerned, I know the brains behind this epic event have catered for every contingency.
  5. Anyone, who says Tsv`s heat is the same as Brisbane has never been north Aspley.
  6. There`s always next time, Matt
  7. Quinn, did you come down into the pits? Did we meet? When is your car going to be ready????

    Dumb Bastard

Well, I told the doc I was going to work today no matter what so he put me on light duties. I`ll go in tomo and get it back dated to include today and possibly tomorrow. To be honest Ben it could ages to heal properly, but I`m hoping if I don`t f*ck it up again I should be able to go back Wednesdasy and Thursday then take it steady over Easter. But... I`ll be doing my rear rotor and pad change, fitting the bradied lines and a fluid change. The hardest thing of all was convincing myself not to do weights Last Friday night How`s your clutch, Ben? It didn`t seem happy on friday night :(

    Dumb Bastard

I fell awkwardly at work. Normally I fall with some style and flair.. Landed on a 2 inch steam pipe, say, just above the right hip, on the side a bit. It hurt as you`d expect but I was midway through the job so after I took a minute or two to regroup I got it all finished. As the afternoon progressed I realised it was going to take a while to come good. No biggie, harden the f*ck up. By the time I drove home its just going crazy, went the private hospital cha ching!!! Doc said maybe its ribs. Go to work next day, it`s hopeless, got told off for being workaholic etc.. I figure I got the weekend it`ll all be good. Saturday went to my own quack and xrays told us no rib breakage ( knew that anyway ) doc says: rib cartilage torn and that a broken rib would have been preferable. They always say that.. Okay, now in the car it HURTS. Actually if you put your hands on the spot where the injury is you soon realise that its the muscles that initiate movement for just about anything you do. right hand corners in the car = ow!!!! So, I went on the cruise friday night atleast I behaved myself. I then had to do a total of about 280 klm over the weekend ferrying kids about. Limited assisting in the Pits at Willowbank wasn`t smart either but it was rewarding. Despite all that, I woke this morning with some confidence that it was actually healing. Felt half okay, go to work. Now, I`m thinking watch every step, walk carefully.. Plan every move. Don`t climb up there with a sledge hammer. Its all going great.. During the start proceedure for the plant I run, I need to climb up onto a screen deck. I do it every morning. So, when I stepped up a couple feet and dragged my full weight with my out stretched right hand upwards the resulting blinding white light I saw came as an imediate surprise. By the living Christ it was intense. I thought you farkin idiot.. The cartilage had probably just started to knit together and I not only tore it apart but possibly tore it worse. THEN I had to get back down. It`s just grabbing like a bastard now, I told the manager I`d wait and see wtf went on with it. I had stuff to catch up on and frankly I couldn`t get in the car anyway. I`m home now. Worst part is, spare time, internet, Visa and phone.. No overtime on compo. I`ve spent a grand already. Howard at race Brakes is packaging my rear brake parts and braided lines as I type this. If you`re reading this and you are a sponsor of this forum and see my phone number on the caller ID? Do not pick up..
  10. Ahem, World record.. if anyone else on the planet has run a quicker time in a manual IRS BA / BF 4 litre 6 cylinder Ford let them speak now or forever hold their peace. But lets not stray too far from the original topic. I think Paul hit the nail on the head, Welcome to the world stage, Atomic.
  11. Apart from listening to the cool noise it makes, I`ve never given my Walbro pump a second thought. The company has been around for ever and I for one have never heard of anyone having any drama. So long as you avoid the Ebay fakes, It all should be good. The damage that could result from fuel starvation makes upgrading from the stock fuel pump mandatory in my humble opinion.
  12. Just whe you think interest in our cars and in particular the engines our cars have is waning, one thing after another lately in the last month tells me that it`s all going to another level.
  13. Spend a few minutes and write down what you want, as in what you REALLY want from your car versus your finances and be completely honest. Then arrange to go and speak to Mick at Pitlane, he`s possibly the straightest shooting guy in the industry.
  14. Ace, as the Bogan quite rightly states, the debate between Spiro and Paul was absolutely gold. The afternoon and evening had just about everything.
  15. To be fair, most of the shops mentioned have done many cars with successful outcomes. However, the sun doesn`t shine every day does it? For a variety of reasons things don`t always go well, that`s life. It costs you nothing to TALK to businesses other than time and the price of a phone call. I`ve heard good and bad about EVERY single tuning business that's known. Fat mate of mine got warned off chicken take away place, someone told they knew people made sick allegedly by chicken rolls, he said yeah? 2 or 3 outa how many? It`s still good odds. I make mistakes at work, I`m not a machine. When I do, I rectify. Some peple are better negotiators than others. Its no secret I`m a customer of Elite. I had an issue with a part fitted and despite me sending Paul a whiney vitriol fueled text while he was half way through his sunday lunch ( lol!!) He told me he`d do what was required to fix it, and did. I think I might have even lived the text down too.. Few things I`ve learned, I always try to give a business plenty of notice for any services I require. get a clear picture of whats required and what will be provided. Choose with thought and deliberation.
  16. It`s too dark and shakey for me to see much. Also the angle Steve was at for the coolant fishtail run didn`t really show how much Paul had to steer the car. Consider, he was doing well north of 100 mph, he corrected it and reapplied the right wellington which caused it too fairly bagged up. Then you`re safe right? Well, then you need to pull up 1800 kg doing 137 mph with wheel barrow tres and XF taxi brakes on the front. Watching this car you can see aspects that could be refined with practical use. Unfortunately that's a luxury that's not available. Every time it has pulls up to the line could be its last throw of the dice from an official stand point. Pretty high stakes, eh?
  17. Hope we can see this..
  18. I`ll give this a crack
  19. Here`s the Stig. Here we se him in a pensve moment. I`ll start a separate thread and post some more pics of our afternoon and evening. EDIT: wtff?? I didn`t notice the disco ball on the mirror before!
  20. It was a real and genuine pleasure to be involved with this venture. Many things were demonstrated. The power and strength of the components selected by Spiro and assembled by Paul and the crew. The commitment of the Elite team, not just Steve and Paul but by Herb and Lee, customers and friends of Elite who swung into action to repair the water leak issue with rudementary tools, light from mobile phones and swear words. Who also then went bin diving for bottles to refill the expansion tank. The driving ability of Paul, who`d only driven Spiro`s car out the Willowbank on the day after final prep was done at his shop. Picture yourself being tossed the keys to an unfamiliar car, with nasty power wearing slicks so soft they felt like Sikaflex. lol, I actually was, but currently I have badly torn rib cartlidge and have to manually grab my pants leg and lift my right leg into the car.. I helped where I could, mainly I just stayed out of the way and enjoyed the interaction between Spiro and Paul. it was priceless. I`m about to wade through the 295 pictures I took, I`ll post the better ones.
  21. It`s Victoria, given recent events I can`t beleive the " racially motivated " chestnut hasn`t come up...
  22. Mine will do something similar when I trail a lil bit of brake on and turn left. It`s uncanny, but I spoke to Howard yesterday afternoon about ordering some brake parts and I asked him about what I just discribed and another symptom. As always, Howard gave me about 20 mins of dialogue about that and brake matters. I reckon his wheel bearing assumption, in my case anyway is probably correct. Ima check it out.. Just pull your wheels off and go through a process of elimination, mate. Its like a shoooph shoooph shoooph noise.. But I`m sure my prob is different to yours.. Investigate and eliminate.. All you can do.
  23. 18th April? Czech the Ace files, cruise to the coast. You could have attended, I told you I`d come and get you. My pictures were crud with no tripod, I need a better flash but they cost a fortune.
  24. The ute with the stripes, or the ute that left the stripes? One and the same, non?
  25. I did 27k worth of damage to my car, it was fixed and my premium went up about 8 bucks for a year. Middle age owns. Should I tell them about the Bilsteins, Kings and whitelines? I dunno, it could be construed as wear and tear replacement. You can barely notice the cooler, the cross over okay.. But the rest is invisible. It`s food for thought, I`ll admit that much.
