  1. Hi guys I need your advice, I recently had some work done to my ba xr6 turbo, when they tunned it they we didn't replace the intercooler, it is currently running 346 rwkw on the standard cooler, so with these hot days we've been having the car is running a little hotter than normal , and so now the intercooler is going to be replaced. What I need your advice on, is what are my options with intercoolers? I have already checked out Process west, and plazmaman, and about to send a email of to chris at rapid. if you guys could help out with any other advice it would be appreciated. thanks
  2. Well It Seems like Rapid was on the money. It's amazing what a full tank of fuel does, it wasn't empty, it had about a quarter of a tank in it when we had the problem, fill her up, problem gone. So I'm assuming it's a fuel pump problem, It's now running like a dream, so back to the tuner get him to fix that up and then I'll pay him. But I will take your advice on board and next week I'm of to Plazmaman for a larger intercooler. Thanks again for your help
  3. Thanks for the quick replies, I live in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. The car has also had a hi flow cat installed with dual 2.5inch pipes from the cat back, it has XR6 IC Piping OEM stage 2 kit from plazmaman, and a typhoon snorkel added to the air box, other than that, all else standard. Thanks
  4. Hi Guys I think I know what your all going to say but here goes. I have a 2003 BA xr6 turbo, it is currently having the valve springs, injectors, fuel pump and wastegate changed, it is currently producing 346.8rwkw the tuner is having a few problems with the car surging when the accelerator is flat on the floor, it feels as if it is bunny hopping. It does however feel fine when you drive it normally. He Thinks that maybe the boost sensor is acting up or the throttle body is the problem, but not me, I don't think it's going to be either. Now I'm not going to pay him a cent until this is worked out, but my feeling is that it is going to need a larger intercooler as it only has the stock one on there now. What do you guys think, and if my hunch is correct and it needs the larger intercooler what are your suggestions?
  5. Ok, just a quick update. Well today I took the car back to Springwood Car Care, they checked a few things plugged it up to a computer and it came back with a wastegate error. The guys up there tried to explain to me something about when it reaches a certain boost level the computer drops a couple of cylinders for around 5-10 seconds to help protect the car. His suggestion was to get it custom tuned, change the fuel pump and injectors as well as wastegate. Now while I know a bit about cars, I don't know a great deal about turbos. So my question to everyone out there, does this sound real or are they having a lend of me? P.S.The car has never been tuned before and pretty much is stock standard under the bonnet Thanks
  6. Hi Guys, I'm sure you may have already covered this, but I need your help. I have a 2003 Ba Xr6 Turbo (auto) that has done 110 000Km's, only things changed on it are CAI, Dual 2.5 inch cat back exhaust, and plazmaman STG1 piping kit. The car makes 253rwkw's. The Cars been running fine until just recently. The problem is that you can drive the car normally all day, and no problems, but give it a boot and as it starts to take off, it feels like it losses all power, starts shuddering gives no accelerator response at all, but give it a second, tap the accelerator a few times and she comes good again. Now I know the first thing most people will say is, change the coils. Been there done that, several times, replaced plugs several times as well. Sinclair Ford said that they can't find a problem, my local mechanic gave up, so I took it to Springwood Car Care today. The Car spent half the day on the dyno only to be told that it was the plugs, so he changed them and said it was fine. I drove it home and the same old problem is still there. Now I'll ring the mechanic in the morning but any help from you guys out there would be good, as this thing is pissing me off and hurting my pocket at the same time. Thanks Guys P.S. This is my first post, so please be gentle.
