1. Having the key cut should be less than $30 at your local locksmith guys - do not pay Ford $88.00+ Also, this is an amazing price compared to what you have to pay elsewhere currently! If I didn't already have one I'd be on the list.
2. Ok, I have been right thru the 300 range for some time now and honestly its the maintenance that is the con in my eyes. If you're like me (picky) and want the car to remain tight/quiet/smooth.. get the wallet out as it costs you constantly. Yes you could just follow the service book and fix things as you MUST when they completely fail; but it'd be a pretty fast bucket of **** within 1-2yrs if you drive it everyday like I do. I don't want to think about how much money I have spent on upkeep over the last 9 months.. ill stop now before I scare myself (and maybe others)
3. There is/was cops everywhere! I seen bikes/highway patrol/undercovers/booze bus(s)/and patrol units around the BPs cnr of warrigul and princess hwy as there were masses of people around. I should also mention they had a chopper going around there and upto chaddy/noble park too! Pity, as they scare/send away the people out for a good cruise and not just the idiots... I'd love to know where all those people came from and what they were doing at the intersection; a good 50+ were just sitting on the grass median strips like it was a park LOL!
4. Yep, can confirm it does it in both the 4spd/6spd autos and of course the manuals. Its not a big deal so long as you dont need to steer much in the few seconds it takes to notice, start the car up again... I have never known for anyone (or myself) to accidently turn the car off with my leg or knee until now though - lucky you were on a freeway if its unexpected Id say!
5. R-Spec is XLD.496 going by his members gallery photos - very similar. I thought it was him too, at first lol. The one I seen looked and sounded stock and fairly new (hard to tell in the dark). Seems to be a handful of these Ego FG F6s with the argents getting around...
6. Around 8:30pm I seen an Ego FG F6 with dark argents on East Link.. got off onto the Monash outbound; rego XFD.927 I think.. Anyone from here? I was on my way home back from BPR, the car looked nice and tidy
7. I wish you the best of luck, be happy you're not in Vic. I had visible, proven damage done to rims and tyers from a repeat pot hole; photos/witnesses/times/conditions/aerial photo/timely reporting/exact location/diagrams etc for them and got nowhere after 2-3months. I went to seek advice and was told 'while you have played ball with them and done the footwork, it just never eventuates and I'd cut your losses as the next step is legal action'. Long story short, I will stick it to VicRoads at every opportunity I ever get now.. *******s!

Boot Slam

The weight of the boot doesn't help, I don't know how many different boots most of you guys have used on different makes and models, but ours are REALLY heavy! The FPV spoilers aren't lightweight either; it adds up fast and its no wonder they can barely hold the boot open let alone slow it down when lowering or closing it LOL! I find the basic Falcon a bit better, with the lighter boot lid, but even then it's not quite enough - sadly.
9. Far out, I feel for you man! I was driving into Carnegie (from Narre Warren Sth) and would typically use Princess Hwy, but decided not to tonight from what I read on here. I went down greens rd, thru Bentleigh etc and ran into a Booze/drug bus in Murrumbeena, I turned down North Rd right before the bus and was expecting them to come after me thinking I Was avoiding them, but they just looked over and went back to testing. On another note, my turbo bearing just decided to give up the ghost tonight too, so I've been pottering around at 1000-1500 rpm and it sounds horrid... no more driving till I can get it booked in at BPR now :( IT REALLY sh*ts me I cant even drive down my normal route due to being hassled just because of the car I drive even if I don't do anything stupid... I hope nobody else got too much bother, coming home from Carnegie I had 2 undercover cars fly past me with no lights, not sure what their hurry was.

Impulse Purchase

I used to use this a often for the past 2 years (I only stopped as I ran out). I hate scratches and swirl-marks and was the BIGGEST skeptic on this stuff when my dad (a longtime truck driver) handed the stuff to me after buying a new, dark coloured car! He uses the stuff on his trucks, as do many truck drivers, on windscreens and it makes removing bugs much easier from the film it leaves on the front bar. This I have tested myself on a 4000km trip with no wash. The key is: - DO NOT use it if your car is dirty with mud etc. - Use many cloths, you cant use 1 or 2 to do the whole car, the more you use the better and easier it will turn out. - There is a fine line between putting too little and too much on your panel/glass. - it is fine to spray on your wheels etc, but it can get everywhere depending on how you apply it and if you cant wipe it all off, it will be obvious for a long long time. - DO NOT apply a lot of pressure. - DO NOT use it every single time you need to wash the car. I found it great if the car was dusty/rained on etc form normal driving 1-2 weeks max. Anything more and it wasn't worth the effort over a normal wash. I actually had one of these guys come up to me recently in BP (Berwick, SE Melb) but wouldn't let him spray my car as I didn't want one clean spot.. If I wasn't in such a hurry that day I realy would of got some more I think. PS, people that know me know that I don't rate standard vehicle maintenance/washing, while she's an everyday ride, I keep it tidy and swirl marks would put me into a fit of rage.
11. Once at around 30,000kms and it was quieter/smoother... Then again at 60,000kms, but it wasnt really bad at all and I can't say I noticed much if anything. To give you an idea on the cars life: It doesnt do any track work; its been to the drags twice but mostly stock at this time, spent some decent time on dynos since, had a run to QLD and back (from vic) on an every day car often used for fri night fun/weekend twisties.
12. Nice photos guys, cars look so clean too; I was at Flinders for most of the afternoon after heading through Portsea today. I came back via Arthurs Seat/Dromana, but never seen another FPV all day... Looks like you guys had a nice cruise; I know I enjoyed the weather, it was perfect!
13. Well, ask Ford nicely and they might give it to you. There were many 'agreements' and strong 'recommendations' that Ford would of had to see to before Garrett would supply and honor warranties for these products. Ford do not decide on everything that is needed to keep the turbo going on these cars... ok, think of it as if you were building turbos and Ford asked you if they could put them on a series of their large engined high performance family sized cars. Chances are (we would hope lol) you would know what is needed to keep your turbo in good working order and what would kill them or degrade their expected performance/life. I would cheekily joke that knowing Ford, it would have never of had a filter if the first place. Or they might have even had a worse way to lubricate/cool them!
14. The filter in the ETM isn't very fine when you see it in person, it looks considerably bigger than the fly-screens on my windows/doors at home lol - I question why have a filter at all. The idea is great, bring the filter to a much easier location for service; it would be perfect if it had a decent filter in it. As for the looks, that's personal opinion hahaha Oh, and be ware all lines no matter how thick or what they are made of will eventually have some sort of build up in them; don't ignore these lines going from the filter to the turbo guys.
15. I have read that Ford are meant to remove these filters in the first service after new cars are purchased and then run without from there on it. Garrett had also confirmed this and said was something ford have neglected to do thinking 'it will be fine for the life of the car'. Reminds me how they claim no need for servicing on the ZF or diff either lol! There is a larger filter which is a replacement for this stock one, it will go in as per normal but its got around 3x the screen area to allow more flow - I have opted for this filter for now but if this one gets to the same point, I think I will just ditch it and keep up my 5k oil servicing.
16. Oh dear! You better get new tyres first thing in the morning before the climate control, windows and battery stop working too! What a load! Anyway, I had a small clunk into 6th on light throttle, diff oil service seemed to help, as did all new bushings thru the rear end. It is still there, just - but I can def say its much better. I don't know where else to look from here. Oh, I should add; I have just got new tyres recently (to fix my lack of traction issue - fixed) and it didn't help, LOL Ford!
17. Headsex couldn't be more correct! The difference between each custom tune (I have had 5 from big and small shops now and all touched up from time to time - lots of tunes lol) have been quite significant in the way the car drives. At the end of a day, a number is meaningless as is recommending a tuner when you have nothing to compare it to. Also, it sounds like something so simple, but I don't think I have read it elsewhere other than from Headsex above. Try and stick with shops who tune these cars regularly if not specialize in them solely, chances would be they know the car a whole lot better and net greater tune for drivability/durability and of course, performance/economy.
18. Hi mate, I recall doing what you are doing ringing around n chatting to tuners to narrow down the list to one, its not as 'fun' as it sounds. I have been to Dynomite, HPF, BluePower Racing (BPR), HiTorque... and now will not go anywhere other than BluePower even though its nowhere near my house - people travel across Australia to come see these guys to fit up their cars regularly! My experiences with Dynomite were good, Dion knows what he's doing and was very capable at getting a 'fast car' out of my F6, but I was dealing with him in the early days (2yrs ago )so cant say too much for today.. I would think it can only get better with time and experience. As for HPF and HiTorque, I am happy to cover this in a PM, but not in the forums. Pit Lane have been mentioned above and I have been told many great things about them; but now that I am with BluePower I have built too good a relationship to break now and as they say.. if its not broke, dont fix it. There is plenty of awesome cars around wearing Pit Lane goodies, I'd give them a strong consideration along with the overly proven results at BPR if I was able to do this all over again, now educated. Do yourself a HUGE favor and DO NOT limit your tuner choice to the initial end price; just don't as its not worth the stress, BS, few $$$ from your first bill! I cannot stress this strongly enough as what you save by getting a great tuner/shop who is on your side and has a no BS approach with free (in most cases) touch up tuning and great ongoing reduced costs will save you 1000's in he future from my experience!
19. It isn't the fuel pump or related to that is it? It reminds me of the sound my fuel pump makes, but a LOT louder. Not sure what else is around there so that's my only guess... Good luck
20. Yer, didn't think so. Means you will need to swap the whole trim... Not the end of the world, but I'd think it's a bit of a waste!
21. Do the black ones pop out like the silver ones do? If so, give Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage a call and get pricing on a set of the silver grab handle inserts. If yours do pop out, the swap couldn't be easier; if not... if they dont pop out, you may have to change the trim (again, ask these guys as I'm not 100% sure just going off what I have seen in loan cars etc) Good luck.

Tyres...

For a 19" tyre that is soft, wont go hard by half life, puts 380rwkw with a tonne of torque down to the ground, has almost better traction in the wet and very quiet - I see no other option. I respect cheap tyres and what they do for their cost; and I have used them in the past, but they dont suit my application or driving style/preferences any longer. Some food for thought: I recall a chat I had with Rodney Jane (Bob's son) 12+ months ago and he admits tyres in general are 'quite' overpriced, everywhere... but there is no competition to the modern day tyre at this stage and it cuts him up more so how wasteful they are on materials and resources. If anything else was to come out that worked, it would lower the prices we all see considerably. I personally think it is very similar to most things you buy in your day to day life... think about it, everything has a sensible limit where price no longer justifies the benefits You can start to throw money at it and get very little in return; hardest thing is to find this point without testing the waters, obviously. Also IMHO, I wouldn't take the words of any tyre seller/fitter toooooo deeply... they all (sorry to stereotype here) recommend different brands and contradict each other and even sometimes themselves on different points.

Tyres...

xr6tc - I paid around just under 2000 from memory for the 4, fitted and balanced. It was about 4 months ago now but I also have a mate who got the same after driving my car; paid ~1900 I think but without a balance at tat stage. Hope that helps

Tyres...

I was using the PP2's also, have now gone to the Yokohama Advan Sport V103's and they are better all round. Significantly quieter/softer and much more progressive on 'the edge' without feeling floaty or boat-like. Price wise, a tad cheaper, but once you're paying good $$$ for tyres, it all seems much n much haha
25. This sounds fairly normal to me.. If you are a little enthusiastic with the throttle in any auto mode (which you obviously were is you dropped a few gears), the box will hold gears for a while after you get off the throttle thinking you are planning on having more fun any moment... this is a GREAT thing wen you are on tracks or on windy mountain roads! If you wait a bit, the box will drop back into higher gear/s; or you can blip the throttle a tiny bit after you come off and it will then begin upshifting away to 6th again. An easy way to avoid it if for some reason you do not like this is when you accelerate regardless of throttle input, ease off the throttle gently and progressively; don't just go right to 0% throttle as it will hold the gears like you mentioned. It is a smart box...
