  1. Hi all.. had a bit of a search and found some info on the products, but nothing that covered what I'm searching... Just trying to sort out my exhaust system and the last things I need to consider are my dump pipe and maybe my cat. Currently I am running a 4" dump pipe and a 3.5" metal cat. Now while I have lived and loved the massive power this setup has allowed me to run, I am now scaling back a tad in the efforts to make a quieter system for the car, its a daily drive. What I am looking to find out is if anybody has run a normal 3.5" dump pipe vs a 3.5" split dump and how they found them to be different in volume, sound and performance? Same thing with the split cat, I am considering 2x smaller cats (I think some systems are starting to use this) in hope that it still flows, but may be quieter.. has anybody had both or heard them in comparison? There is very little info or even chat around about tha sound side of all this exhaust gear; any info would be greatly appreciated!!
  2. I have dealt with Dyno-Mite and would go there if in the west, very easy to get to for the westies LOL As for who I'd personally see, I'd be taking a small drive (from the west) over to Cooper St, Campbellfield and see Chris and Theo at BluePower Racing. I am happy to battle hours of traffic for them and their expertise for mods, service, problems... at the drop of a pin honestly. They're also great blokes always up for a chat over donut, muffin, cake, maccas or a coffee or 2.
  3. It is only the FPV bodykit that sits lower, not the susp. Also as said above it is the same on both models with the optional Typhoon R-Spec having different dampers. By the sounds of what you said; I'd be looking at a Bilstein shocks, factory or king springs (you dont have to get low or hard ones..) and if you want to tighten it up a little more, go swaybars and maybe some new bushings. Again, have a chat to senna_t he is awesome, helped me out and I am sure I have the right setup for my needs at a not so over-the-top price!
  4. timbos99, you're right! I just double checked to confirm this when I went out tonight and I was incorrect. As said above I never use these buttons and must have been holding the button down too long for it to be a single push in the past lol.. So to clarify, if you press the manual buttons momentarily, the roof will go to the full position.
  5. The manual slider buttons (arrows) will not automatically go to full open/close/tilt when pressed only momentarily - it will just begin to open/close/tilt while pressing them. You'd have to hold the button in till it got to the position you wanted - this is why they are manual buttons. The presets (numbered 1 & 2) are the automatic buttons and they will automatically slide to your preset position (any position you like as its user set) with one quick touch. If you hold these buttons, you will reset the saved sunroof position for that number to the current position of the sunroof.
  6. Yes, most of us have the 700 series in our cars. There is no way that the movement you described is normal, like arm said, just have the preset buttons 1/2 set to full tilt or full open... I cannot rem using the manual slider buttons other than to test the worked when it was installed LOL! My colour coded handle along with new button/memory pod set me back around $80ish together inc GST from The Sunroof Centre in Noble Park. I emailed custom sunroofs and prestige sunroofs also - custom said 130ish for the two and there was no answer when I tried to call them to confirm pricing, prestige are still yet to reply I have booked to get my sunroof fully serviced, alined and to see if I may need to new seal to get rid of some of the wind noise as Im positive it was silent when I had it installed years ago by prestige. The seals are pretty expensive, I hope it just needs adjustment!
  7. Might be off, but I have the electric pedals option on my F6 and I find that the further 'down' it is, closer to the floor, the less responsive it feels in a odd way. Also, re-flashing your tune or resetting your trans/cars adaptive settings would be a good idea.
  8. I opted to have the sunglass holder taken out; it *can* stay, but it looks cramped and silly. It was no great loss to me as I never used it because I could hear them rattle in the holder on some roads etc... The holder also feels cheap and plastic (it is, obviously lol) but I mean in comparison to some other cars I have driven with a glasses holder and it honestly did not rate with me. Good riddance to the thing!
  9. OK - good news! I now have matching beige handle/switch instead of the black I had.... haha On a more 'publicly' interesting note, it seems installing into an FG is quite normal now, just book it in and get it done.. The FG isn't anything unusual, special, wrongly designed etc.. its just a car with a support in the roof where they now need to move the support in fitment of an electric glass sunroof. Book it in and enjoy it asap!
  10. Yep, I love BPR and would happily drop by when the need arises, but its a PIA to get to from the SE suburbs.. don't even get me started on peak hour traffic going that way either! I am happy to drop by some local places, but need some direction guys; I know of no good local exhaust places.
  11. I didn't plan on mentioning names, but they are they guys who have fit up my car in the first place. They did sort out the rear knocking, rubbing and ruined upper heat shield, but they didn't pick this up.. They've had my car there a number of times, not sure if I really want to go back there with this in mind. Plus it is a long way to go for something hopefully so simple lol
  12. Oh man ... the shade grip too?! that's the final straw!
  13. You could get a pop up style or even an electric sliding sunroof in, BUT the electric sliding style would slide up and outside the roof, not into the roof cavity like on the sedan. Best to approach the shops as there is a few options and brands available for a ute now unlike in the past.
  14. Yer, the FG one does seem to sit further back going by the pics, compared to mine anyway. It is the same sized sunroof though.. Is yours similar Adrian? This is how mine sits right now, excuse the pov black buttons, they're will go soon haha:
  15. Hi, it will only make the noise when moving. I don't have any noises or problems with stationary no matter how I turn the wheel or load the drivetrain. I still tend to think its the exhaust too; but with 2 shops telling me there is no chance and me not being able to prove otherwise.. its got me stumped lol! I have never had the noise/clunk occur when turning right, but I have had it a coupe of times when driving straight over very* bumpy roads where there is enough bumps to get the car almost rocking... I got under the car and see no contact marks on the exhaust or chassis rails, but again I won't be able to try the whiteout trick tonight.. maybe later this week. Does anybody know a GOOD exhaust shop where they like custom work in the SoutEast suburbs of Melb?
  16. I have not had a change to try this white out on the dump flange no, it's not the easiest thing to do with no hoist and the roads wet every time I get some free time lol I tried to load up the car in drive and reverse, neither seem to move the engine more than I'd think to be normal - do the mounts looks OK visibly? I didn't have any work done on the car when it started happening, around 6 months ago; it begun quite randomly
  17. These are the only places I know of; I am sure there others that are reputable so please have a good look around lol... Prestige Sunroofs: 11, Harker St, Burwood, Vic., 3125 - (03) 9808 8966. Custom Sunroofs: 110, Mitchell St, Maidstone, Vic., 3011 - (03) 9318 4978. Sunroof Centre: 4/401 Princes Highway, Noble Park, Vic., 3174 - (03) 9548 3366.
  18. Prestige told me the same thing Adrian; must be true? They said they normally have a few on hand they buy as spare parts, but it wasn't normal fitment for them. The FG does have support beams across the roof where the sunroof would typically sit and this is why it not available even as a factory option, no matter what you are wiling to pay. However, there are some places fitting them, so there must be something that can be done... at what cost financially or structurally thought, I am unsure. It was a very hot topic around 12 months ago, especially for people who got G6E and G6ET models.
  19. Adrian, how much is this extra fancy, ultra special, VIP only, sunroof beige controller? When I got mine years ago, Prestige were out of that one and I took the standard, stock, pov, pleb black controller... I forgot to ever swap it over like I'd planned!
  20. I agree with what arm79 has said; it appears to have more to do with the placement and fitting of the glass and seal to the hole and plastic edging. I had mine installed (again a BF) at Prestige Sunroofs, so while I cannot comment on Custom's work I have seen a mates car with one of their installs that was just as tidy as mine - no problems for either of us. I paid $1950, but it was ~3 years ago now and this was for the Hollandia 700, they refit my front map lights and sunroof switch, I left the sunglasses holder with them. A very tidy install that, again similarly to arm79 has only got a bit of wind noise with the shade open at 100kmhr+, this is no worry to me as I drive with my roof vented/shade open or roof closed/shade closed 100% of the time.
  21. OK, I haven't got a hoist anywhere close by so I got up under the car to check out these engine mounts... It as hard enough to locate them and take good enough photos let along change them over; if I need to swap them, I will definitely let my mechanic do this one! Anyway, now that I have the photos I don't there there is anything visibly wrong with them, but on the same note I have no clue what to look for other than the obvious stuff. Below are the shots I took of both mounts, anyone able to give me an idea on how these are holding up and if I should look into them further as the source of this clunking? Also, is there a chance they could be failed without showing much proof? Thanks in advance - now to the photos:
  22. I had this issues under warranty and ford kept trying to do what you are trying. Silly thing was, I had tried it too and told them it wasn't a simple solution of lubrication of what's visibly within reach... They ended up replacing the whole pedal box and sent it to Ford who told them it has internal stress fractures and have since been replacing most under warranty unless there is something to void warranty etc. If you don't have warranty then I dare say I have no suggestions to fix this issue. A new pedal box is hell expensive just to fix a squeak and my new one has slowly started getting it back, to a much lesser degree for now. I have noticed in pretty much all BAs and BFs that are not new that I've been in to different degrees. I also think most people don't notice it due to tyer and or road noise paired with wind noise and even the stereo being on.. For somebody like me who has worked to get all the silly random noises sorted out; it has highlighted the accelerator pedal noise at times. I wish you luck and let us know how you go with your progress
  23. fpv6t - I had no idea they were oil filled - thanks for that info.. should make it easier to tell if its leaked or broken. I will will have to see if I can get under there and have a play now yes.. the use of a hoist seems the best way me thinks! Arm, I never see any cruises on the night I'm free and check.. I often look over here, FF and FM but nothing coming up I see. I haven't even seen any last min meet ups recently either like the old days haha The idea of the engine (or something) moving makes sense.. as that would certainly move the exhaust around and not be visible when trying to move it from underneath... Just had the car getting stuff done on it today too, I should of put this thread up earlier and checked while it was on the hoist
  24. I will see if I can try and check the dump flange, I keep getting told its 110% not the exhaust, but I still question it when its on the road bouncing around too! I didn't think of engine mounts; thanks for the idea there Adrian. How could I possibly diagnose a buggered engine mount? Is it a visual thing by any chance? PS, hows the Force going? I still wanna check it out lol I know I am a picky *beep* with noises on my car, but this one is not me being picky, I promise!
  25. Hey all! As the topic says, I have a mystery clunk when I am turning left at speed or any bumpy left hand turn. It sounds and feels like a solid metal on metal clunk and almost a thump... I've had 2 workshops looking over the car on the hoist and we've gone over exhaust (I swear it feels like the cat/flange hitting the chassis, but its solid as when we move it under the car) replaced all upper and lower ball joints, front bearings, rotors have been off and machined too lol.. lower control arm bushes and rear sway bar mounts. The front sway bar mounts worked a little loose but they were fine otherwise once tightened up. Also new springs, shocks and other bits and pieces I cant remember right now. I have spent a heap of $1,000.00's now trying to get to the bottom of this now and I'm so bloody sick of it It feel like it is under/nearby the underside of the driver seat/footwell area and its not a small noise that most people would ignore or not notice. If you have the stereo up loud, even though it cannot be heard the passengers will still feel it and ask "wtf was that?" It can be felt thru the whole car when it hits and I have had the exhaust hitting at the back in the past (now fixed) so I am quite familiar with the sound of a clunk from the back end of the car and this is nowhere near the same location. Can anybody give me some tips on what to check or how the heck I can replicate the problem while stationary Thanks in advance guys.. this is doing my head and wallet in!
