  1. My thought exactly, if it is buggerd surely it would be doing it all the time.... Probably not fully, both times the turbo was about to come off a smaller more probable issue which was highly likly to be the issue was fixed but didn't turn out to be the problem.
  2. So over the past few weeks I have been dealing with this turbo noise that has been coming and going. It started around 4 weeks ago when I noticed a boost-leak sound appearing once the car was on full boost around 4000rpm onwards. First cab of the rank was to check the turbo bolts, and sure enough a few were loose around the turbo housing. Once these were tightend I assumed the noise would be gone. I drove the car away from the mechanics with a little more down low and no sign of the leaky noise. After about 30 minutes of driving home I was a few streets away and thought I heard the noise come back. I couldn’t get on full boost again as I was in a 50 km/h zone, so I just assumed it was me being paranoid and went home. The next morning I got back in the car and did my 5-10min warm up of the engine before I gave it a few good squirts to see if I could hear it. All went well and there was no sign, the car was running really well with no loss of power and boosting really well. Then again after about 30 minutes I hit boost and there is was again, I boosted it from down low once or twice more just to check it wasn’t a one of and sure enough it stayed there. I put it away and called the mechanic and organised the drop off of the vehicle again the next day. The following day came and again I went through the same process of warming it up before boosting hard. Again for the first 30 minutes it ran so perfectly with no sign of the leaky noise, I went steady the rest of the way and just before I arrived boosted again and there it was. My mechanic hadn’t heard the noise and was just going off my description, so I took him for a spin to hear it first hand and sure enough after sitting for 10-15 minutes it didn’t make the noise. I left it with them and received a phone call that afternoon saying the induction filter had not been looked at in the service and the K&N filter was falling apart. It was replaced and driven quite hard by the mechanic and he said there was no sign of the noise. After picking it up I have driven it for about a week again with power gains and boosting harder with no signs of the leak. Then again after about 30 minutes of driving this morning it suddenly started doing it again. After another discussion with my mechanic we think the turbo may be f*cked and sucked up a few pieces of the filter while it was falling apart. Could this be the case? It just sounds so strange to me that this noise keeps coming back once the turbo has been fully warmed up, If it was f*cked wouldn’t it just be making the noise all the time and not be running very well? Sorry for the length of this post, Just would like a opinion or 2 before I get it taken off and sent away to be checked if it needs a re-build.

  4. Hey Matt, ah mate I think so. I think I can still hear this little noise but I dunno, maybe im listening to ahrd and just thinking im hearing something, Car is running really well so I guess it is good. Need to get it to BPS on the dyno and give it a good workout.

  7. I don't at the moment, need it to stop raining here so I can wash it haha. Yeh it's lowerd but f*cks me what was put in it. Was done when I bought it 2 years ago and forgot what he said was in there. he gave me the stock leafs and front ones so it was replaced but fek knows what with haha. Good ownership on my half

  9. Not sure yet Jamie, all depends on how much this turbo is gonna cost to fix/replace. I have been using Guy and Casey and we have almost eliminated all the cheap and obvious possibilities that could be causing the issue. So if the turbo ends up needing to be replaced id say I'll end up keeping it. Booked in again on tuesday so will see what happens next.

  12. Don't let go of the bulb with the multi-grips when your drilling the rivets out, will leave some nice circle scratches in your paintwork

Hey, Both my tail lights went out the other day without warning at the same time, I don't have an owners manual and the in car fuse box lid didn't have a diagram of the fuses, so I decided to just check all the 10s in the box. After going through them all they were all in excelent condition. I started the car up and was taking it to the mechanic when I realised all the following problems had just arisen. -The intermediate level of my windscreen wipers doesn't work but the rest of the speeds do -The radio doesnt turn off when I turn the car off and take the keys out, but it turns off when I start the car -The passanger side power window control doesnt work, but it still goes down with the driver side control -Air conditioning doesnt even register on the ICC and the fan doesn't work Seeing as I took 1 fuse out at a time then replaced it, surely its highly unlikely I got 4 wrong so I can't see that being the issue. The problem with the tail lights was the brake light switch which is all fixed and working. If anyone has any ideas that I can check before I take it to the mechanic in the next few days that would be fantastic
  14. HAHA trent, nah nothing in the water mate, just thought it was time to start putting some coin in the bank. IF the ute ever sells im looking at an 05 Xr6 sedan, unfortunatly without the turbo. I do have the majority of stock parts left over and what I don't have would be easy to source. When I modded the car I knew it was gonna add $0 value to the car and im completly fine with that, Just unsure if anyone is gonna buy a modded ute like I said without receipts and proof of what the parts actually are. I've been looking through all the "I'm looking at buying this" threads and everyones advice to them seems to be buy stock and mod yourself which I completly understand and did myself. In the end im not in any $$$ trouble just figured it may be smart, I still love driving it sooooooo much so if it doesnt end up going I wouldnt be that concernd
  15. Been a while bitches!! Need some sweet advice with pain-in-the-ass situation im facing. About to put the ute up for sale and don't know whether to attempt to sell it modified or return it back to stock. The main problem I have is I didn't for some unknown reason keep any receipts from the mods I bought and have had done. Seeing as its pretty recognisable I don't want to put it up for sale as a modded ute on carsales then pull it off and put it back up as stock. Whats your opinions??
  16. I am 21 and I called Just Car about 30 mins ago to get a quote. I have a 330rwkw T Ute and mentioned all my engine mods and rims ect. They quoted me 1250 premium with an 1800 excess. going from what I've read the location of the vehicle seems to play a decent sized role in the $$

  21. Yeah you can mate. I have a viper system installed on my ute and it's pretty cool and has a few other nice features as well, Not sure where your from but a few of the bigger car audio places supply and install them.
