  1. Try rubbin some magic powder in your eyes  check out the front ,and then the rear, abracbra dabra differnt to standard vik different maybe...but stand out it does not. Not saying it looks bad, just dosnt jump out and say hey ive spent $3K on this!
  2. The car looks awesome - so SHINY! But regarding the kit - flamesuit on - I really cant notice any difference over a standard XR6 (besides the wing of course). I mean the wheels give it a different look but the actual body kit - front/rear/side bars all look the same as a standard car to me.......

    Raising my T

Dont park the car in the driveway? Only solution I can think of - why would you want to go backwards in handling/looks.
  4. Hi guys need some quick advice: I dropped my BA XR6 off today at Power Ford as the brakes are shuddering once again (3 machines so far), however this isn't my problem. The car has 25,000kms and about 3000kms after the cars 15000km service the handbrake stopped working (apparantly a common problem with the BA and AU?) So when I dropped off the car I said: "Oh by the way the handbrake dosnt work, could you fix it up". Dealer "sorry sir the handbrake is a servicable item which means we would have to charge you for it" Me: "its a new car under a warranty, its covered by that warranty" Dealer "no its the same as oil, disk pads ect. they require adjusting or replacement, this is not covered by warranty" Me: "but it was fine at the 15,000km service, how does a handbrake need adjusting every 3000kms?" Dealer "sorry there is nothing I can do, you must pay for us to fix it" Me "when I bought the car I had a handbrake, now my handbrake dosnt work due to manufacturer fault so you must replace it, Im not going to argue about it now" I then walked out as I was getting seroiusly pissed and plan to call the service manager tomorrow. Now do I have a leg to stand on? Are Ford full of sh*te or is the handbrake a "servicable" item? I would have thought a degree or reasonable tolerance would be the way to go ie. if your handbrake dosnt work every 3000kms then it needs replacing under warranty, if it goes out of whack every 50,000kms then this reasonable and is a service adjustment? And all this after I just decided against selling the car as I love it too much despite some of the problems it has had (brake shudder, coolant leak - all the typical BA crap). Why are Ford so eager to lose customers - why argue about a handbrake that would take some mechanic 5 seconds to fix and lose a customer forever???????? Beats me.
  5. your only allowed to buy them if you promise never to install them on a fully sik lancer with clear tail lights and 25" inch chrome rims....
  6. I think you mistankingly drove the ladies version (read automatoc), try a 5 speed. nah - seriously I think they are deceptivley quick as they are so smooth and such a heavy stable vehicle you dont FEEL the speed but look down at the speedo and youll get a shock!
  7. Personally I cant stand 4WDs - why would you want to own something that goes slower than everything else, handles poorly, uses more fuel, and causes significant injuries too other road users in an impact. HOWEVER that being said, I do not propose the ban of them - just because I or others do not agree with someone elses purchase does not mean we should have the right to ban them. That is what I love about living in Australia - freedom of choice - if I want to drive a gas guzzling bohemeth then I will and no-one will stop me, that's why we don't live in Iraq!
  8. I think there should be a restriction put on inexperienced drivers. L platers I dont think should be restricted as someone else said "as long as there is a responsible adult in the passengers seat". I agree. But P platers are a different story - I remember how crazy I was on my P's and am glad the only car I could afford then was a corolla otherwise I probably would have got into trouble. Im sure there is a lot of P platers on here that are good drivers, but they lack the experience necessary to control a hi-po car (or the will power to know when to back off). Im restricted to 250cc bikes on my P's so I don't see why car drivers get off light and can drive anything they want. I know I wouldnt want to be riding an 1000cc R1 or someone on my P's and Im valuing the experinece Im getting on my ZZR 250. I had to attend 3 full days of rider training and pass a freaken hard riding test just to get my P's - car drivers pass a basic road test with no compulsary training. At least when Im on the bike I will only kill me if something goes wrong - in a car you can kill others as well. PS - is the average age on here older than FF, because the responces to this topic on here seem to be a hell of a lot more mature than over there?
  9. Just because it has six speeds dosnt mean it will automatically have a higher top speed. If you get the gearing right a six speed box means the ratios can be a lot closer together, resulting in quicker acceleration than a 5 speed box. Of course you could gear it for top speed, but personally I would prefer the six speeds to be optimised between 0-140km/h.
  10. why is everyone so freaken excited about the territory. WOW another big stupid 4WD conjesting the road - watch me get excited!!! as for turbo and performance versions, whats the point?? Its a 4WD weighing big kilos. I wouldnt want to see Fords lovley 4lt turbo degraded to being placed in a soft roader. BAH!
  11. ive decided to go DBA longlife gold on the front - as I like the crossdrilled look. problem is everywhere I ring gives me a different price. I was expecting $300 for the pair but cheapest so far is $440 at supercheap. im in NSW. Can anyone tell me what they paid?
  12. has anyone bought the unifilter airbox kit - available for Xr6 and xr6t? I want to buy one for my na xr6 - am looking for feedback.
  13. rabbit: sorry but I (STUPIDLY) dont have 0-100 before the exhaust! but as a guide Motor got 0-100 in 8.1 secs for this car but it was an auto. The XT manual got 0-100 in 7.2 so im guessing somewhere between 7.2 and 8.1 for a stock manual XR6. performance is very much enhanced - you can feel it throughout the entire rev range. So much so that I really dont think ill waste anymore money on mods as I feel the car is quick enough now to dispatch 98% of cars (turbos excluded of course ;-) PS - the sound alone is worth the money (very deep and throaty with a very nice idle - sounds like a nice V8)
  14. rabbit and saleen: basically the car is a manual and only mod is a cat-back Herrod exhaust which cost $550 fitted from Ford at Parramatta (get to keep my warranty too!). Anywho mate is now a mechanical engineer, who does turbo type work so one day I took my car out with him while he was testing and he hooked up his G-TECH (which he has had proven accurate at a racetrack - due to the nature of his new job). Anyway had a few runs and average 0-100 was 6.5secs (with a passenger on board and half a tank of Vortex).
  15. I have an NA - and I love it! not as quick as an XT - how do you mean (same power and weight, with better suspension)????? the suspension work, looks and interior are worth the extra money. If you can afford it go the turbo, its great and its a bargain If you cant (as I couldnt due to extra running cost such as fuel and insurance plus extra purchase price), then go the NA - its a very underated car - that damn turbo thingy stole all the limelight!!! 0-100 in 6.5secs is quick enough for me!
  16. Thanks Pete - As TIC-302 stated, G-techs are quite accuarte despite what some members may believe. To me the time isnt really that amazing - I mean a stock manual XT does 0-100 in 7.1 secs (according to Motor), so around half a second off to 100 is a good result - I was hoping to just get into the 6 second bracket, but did it quite convincingly. Despite the exhaust I assure you the car is stock - herrod stated I would get around 8-10rwkw with the exhaust so im guessing somewhere around 190-195kw at the flywheel. PS: Now that double demerits are over, im going to have a few more runs - apparantly theres an abandoned airstrip somewhere near Windsor....my mate and I are going to try and find it on Friday night!
  17. that's cool - im assure you im not lying, the run was wirtnessed by three others and repeated twice. g-Techs have also proved to be within 0.01 secs of a track timer on multiple experiments - my mate bought the G-Tech as he is a mechanical engineer undertaking a project that requires him to test the 0-100 runs of certain cars - he chose this particular model for its accuracy. as for the show pony comment - c'mon guys im just teasing - no offence ment. Not trying to say the NA is better or anything (I would buy a T in a heartbeat) just showing off what the NA is capable of.
  18. yeah c'mon ed-au, hurry up and start the Team N/A club LOL. maybe we can teach those show ponies in their turbos a thing or too... with your mods you should be able to beat my 6.55 - remember a turbo does about 5.9 stock so we only need another half second or so!! On tuesday when I repeat the run ill kick out my passenger to save weight and see how I go!
  19. - while 6.5 is quick (for an N/A) I realise I could do better than 15.3 down the quarter. I shifted into fourth at only 3500rpm so im hoping to repeat the run on Tuesday night. Will keep you posted - hoping to get into the 14's.
  20. My mate just bought a G-TECH device that measures 0-100 and quarter miles ect. Anyway we just drove out to a nice deserted area and I got to see what my non-turbo XR6 can do!!! Firstly the car is a BA XR6 N/A with the only mod being a Herrod cat-back exhaust (which set me back $550 fitted). The temperature was 25 degrees, road perfectly flat, half a tank of premium unleaded and one passenger on board. Car has standard tyres ect. complete with spare wheel and jack. in other words STOCK. Best 0-100 from two runs was 6.55secs Best 400m from two runs was 15.31 @ 145km/h I was very impressed with the figures seeing it was only my second attempt at ever launching the car hard. We were turning around for a third run when an SS police car cruised passed so we decided to call it a day. Im now saving for extracters - maybe I can pull a sub 6sec pass???
  21. Krash - IM NOT CRAZY!!!! ok everyone including my girlfriend and my ford dealer think im crazy as when idling at lights the car sways from side to side - it makes me feel seasick!!! took it to the dealers and he said he dosnt know what im going on about. so still not fixed but maybe if more people report it then theyll realise theres a problem. oh and that tappet sound - I had that - and got it fixed - faulty purge control valve, about 3 days wait for part and 1 day to fit. Cheers, merlin.
  22. turbo6 I tried your trick - hard to notice much difference at idle though it feels a little smoother. am worried by some of the replies here so have booked the car in for Wednesday- better to be safe than sorry! will let you know what was wrong with it
  23. it worked when I posted it but now it wont work for me either - here it is again!
