Thanks for the replies -all seems to be pointing to Fuel pump/Pressure under load. I'll give it back to fix on Mon and see what they come up with - I'll let you know Cheers Paul Clipsal 500 FORD 1, 2, 3 - F**k Yeah! Whincup's a freak-Nice Drivin' Lads - FORD v Holden: FORD 1 ...Expensive Daewoo 0 (though, lucky they didn't have my fuel pump lol)

Thanks Senna - but why if its the fuel pump would it totally stop - not start, then run again? It then ran at fullrevs not a blip?

I've done 10500k's now - 3 oil changes done going gangbusters - then today it DIED in the ass. Just on my way Back from Armidale today after being away all week (some3 000 k's this week) and under full throttle its starts losing power 4000rpm+ 40k's from home. It gets worse over the next 100k's, starts spluttering under load, then more power loss down to 300rpm, then pops, splutters and stops. Just 40k's from home. Can't start. Splutters and cranks but no go. !/2 tank so plenty fuel. Called my Ford Service - no Idea, call roadside assist - TOWED to nearest Ford dealer in Gloucester (v.small country dealer). It starts and runs in the workshop - not a spluter (makin me look like a liar)...puts the computer -no error messages (lucky I haven't edited), cranks it to 500, 6000rpm, fine. so we go for a drive...and it all starts again, lack of power etc, splutters afterb 4000rpm power down... So I take him back, he says he can't fix it and sends me home (he thinks its a fuel pressure regulator)...I limp home, 60-70km/h- under 300rpm PI**ED OFF!!. I call my Ford service (FPV) guy and he says -Oh yeah, maybe its the fuel pump??? Says it may be playing up when it gets hot??? This is a f**** performance car - fuel pumps shouldnt die just cause it gets hot?? So I need to get it over to them Mon first thing. it starts ok now its cool. but if it's the fuel or fuel pump this shouldn't make any diff?? Guys, Any Ideas?

Pommy - the Conquer looks NUTS! Yours is the only one I've seen -anywhere in that colour. Great choice man! Have fun.

Bought my car 17 Dec 07. Emailed them twice. I got on the blower to FPV marketing last week. Mine just arrived today. All should be sent by end of Month -So they say.

G'Day pommy Congrats on the R-Spec, Enjoy! Nice colour too - love to see some pics, havent seen any RSpecs in Conquer What No. on your build plate?

Plug it in, press play on your ipod, press radio AM button - until AUX shows on screen - IPOD comes thru the AUX channel. Voila

For XR6T owners it seems the new one is better in all respects -better looks, better standard specs. For XR6T and F6 fans power gains are easy. So what if the new F6 has 300kw, current T's and F6's are pulling 300, 400, 500+ kw - for those who want power - just pick your tuner. For F6 buyers it comes down to a question of do you like: Gnarly Beast? or Smiley racoon.

Hmm mixed feelings Me definitely likes the new tech upgrades on the Turbo - sounds hot, and F6 will be a balltearer. other Mechanical developments are top notch - quality engineering advancements, what we expected. Launch control and exhaust valve should suit the manual lovers and the V8 boys. Me likes the interior, dash, layout, materials, looks better quality, more refined and new tricks like one touch lane change -nice touches. Certainly did a good job inside. Me Kinda likes the exterior XR6T and XR8, looks sharp a nice evolution, not quite as mean looking headlights - lost that gnarly look of the BF nose (esp on BF F6). Not sure about the outer headlights being smaller than the inner headlights - so wich is main beam & which is high beam? Looks a little Toyota Aurionish - looks less like a ford, more like a mix of Ford, Subaru, Toyota. I too think it's exterior look will date too quickly. XR8 shoulda got twin tailpipes - it'll piss the V8 boys off. Me doesnt like Racoons - Not Mean lookin, just silly lookin. New F6 looks like it has a stupid Grin on its face rather than a gnarly menacing look. It also looks too complex in the front, and too slopey on the back, Just MHO. And whats with the lack of scallops under the FPV headlights, that became signature for the performance Falcon range with the BF's - the FG XR range looks are better at this point than the FPVs And what the F*** is it with the red "START ENGINE" button? And who forgot to put the grill on the F6 intercooler? Glad I got in on the R SPec. It says FORD all over it.

Sorry no info on the colours. But: ZF is Awesome - No I don't miss the clutch, just love shifting now and it changes quick! It's a smart box, hammer it hard up mountains, it'll learn and gear brake on the way back in Sports. Give it stick in short shifts, then in sport mode it will shift the same. Good choice too for city, so much easier, and open road, it loves hard and fast changes under throttle- eats it up.

Did you find anything that works? I need mudspats too for my new Typhoon. I have the same poblem - I drive country roads 100% and every day the car is covered with tar spots and crap from the pot hole filling, as well as a lot of stones thrown at the paint esp behind the front wheels. Does anyone know who does/could make some mudspats to fit the F6 >>>this is Dire! Iam using heavy duty detergents/degreasers every second day and had to touch up numerous stone chips already. Realllly need them

IMHO the black rims cheapen the look, makes it look "boy-racerish", like some guys in their Skylines or Swifts got a can of black to it. I think the new machined rims give the car a classy edge, and look s..t hot when you're driving along - which is what everyone else sees... but then I am biased
-
Congratulations, they are an awesome machine, look forward to seeing some pics.

Yeah they'll send it to you, with an FPV compendium with other FPV info + a choice of gifts - a travel bag, or folio case and wet pack (have a look at FPV website - benefits of ownership). Also theres an invitation for advanced driver day - this also comes in the compendium with info on which tracks they do it at, and a choice for when you can do it. They say it takes 8 weeks for the compendium+ cert + paperwork on the rest, I bought my car in Dec, and am still waiting, but I called them, and they said expect it late Jan. Cheers

F6 Using Oil And Thinking About Mods
F6Rdodg'nroos replied to Sean F6 365's topic in FPV PERFORMANCE INC.
Sounds like an batch issue with rings, and not beacuse you smoked the wheels in the first few days. Rings dont just wear out that quickly, unless theres no oil in it at all. Run in dictates that you drive in with "purpose", maybe not smokin it up, but certainly in the 3-5000rpm range. This should not affect it drinking oil like this. Driving like miss daisy will affect the run in worse, but even then shouldn't result in them being shot. I think you need to have a full check on compression, with and without oil in the cylinder, that will see how well it seals. take it back and get it fully investigated - god bad or ugly runin in doesn't matter a pinch - either way - it's a Warranty issue. -
Too true and to make it just that bit more confusing the 2010 V6 Duratec is meant to be short on torque only 540Nm when pumping out 309kW....the I6 is a torque monster, they'll be tryingto build torque upwards of 575nM in a US built V6 (which is what the stock I6 will have in Orion seriesI this year).... I6T will be a hard act to follow....most tuners already know that, when we know how much torque you can extract out of the beast. IMHO the build with the I6T is the one to get... and hang on to it, if not just for patriotic reasons. The last of the Aussie builds should be prized.

Also see Wheels Mag Aug 07 and Motor Sept07 when those first spy pics came out- the new Orion lineup is toted to be: XR6T 260kW I6T (tuned up BFII) XR8 280kW 5.4 V8 F6 Typhoon 300kW I6T (tuned up BFII) with new low restriction intake and 0.79bar - a sales rep said they're aiming for 308kw and 575Nm (sales pitch??) GT/GT-P 320kW 5.4 V8 (higher revving, new oil pump, bigger valves, new upper plenum chamber, buttefly throttle ala mustang, and input from Herrod) The Inline 6 Turbo Orions will have the new air intake eliminateing the restrictive crossover on the BA/BFs All still speculation on power till it hits the streets. until 2010- Inline 6 stops being manufactured (end of an era)and switch from 5.4L Boss drivetrain SeriesII Orion XR6T and F6 get US 3.5L Duratec V6 Twin Turbo (dubbed Twinforce) with 309kW (F6) New V8's supposed to be 6.2L and/or shorter stroke 5.8L Also mentioned is use of the Jags C-XF 5.0L all alloy V8 in NA and Supercharged.??....

New Member And New F6 R Spec Owner
F6Rdodg'nroos replied to F6Rdodg'nroos's topic in FPV PERFORMANCE INC.
I have noticed the wheel tyre combo on this car is not to bad on country roads (90% of my driving), firm but not as kidney rattling as I thought.... However I am a little concerned as my last XR6T copped a number of bad knocks and needed 3 wheels straightening (one was egg like) with only 17's and theres more give in the tyres - and I think the wheels were a softer alloy. Has anyone had any rims bent (or cracked) on the phoons with 19's (or 18's or that matter), and are they any hrder alloy than the Xr's? -
Rob, thanks for all this info - not at all boring, must admit I'm a bit of a novice on the chassis side , so I am learing alot here. I understand what youve explained about spring rate - and yes I can see what you mean now about the roll resistance limits of the springs. I did notice a bit more roll at medium speeds, less at higher speed into corners - a coil over sounds like a good marriage bw the sping and shock - It's all good food for thought. Yep, the street option may be best, I'll keep testing it on these roads and see what else I can glean from its current set up and what may suit best - Thanks again for the detail. Good idea for new post on this topic for the phoon - look forward to it. I'll also let you know how it goes stock as I mow down some k's in my mountainside testing grounds! :auto: Cheers Paul

Quite the opposite - It's performance will be better with time and Kms provided its run in well. On both points - Run in: I've had 3 BF Falcons, one XR6, then XR6T now F6PhoonR, and run them all in hard, and have done 90-100,000kms in each of the first 2, and up to 3800km in the F6. 1. First 500km, drive it reasonably hard but avoid going over 4500rpm, and vary the engine speed by shifting down through gears, then accelerating, dont use the brakes to slow down, say at 100km shift to 3rd, then 2nd, then take off again. Also do standing starts and positively accelerate through the gears from 0-100. 2. 500-1500km, drive it harder and dont hold back, increase loads at higher revs up to 5000rpm, and do the same shift down and then accelerate up through the gears -key is vary the engine speed. DO NOT coast on freeways at low revs or drive in high gears under load. 3. Change oil at 1500km - Then Drive it like you stole it for next 1500kms 3. Change oil at 3000km drive it like you stole it and still a good idea to keep varying the engine speed- shift down, load it/decellerate lthen accelerate etc. My last two had far more power after 20-50,000 then even more power at 90000+kms than new - and just kept getting better, all with this run in procedure. Its this loading and varied engine speed that beds in the rings, bearings and also provides a map for future power development. Also the FPV guys said this was good. Tuning: It would make sense then, as the engine itself starts to increase power and performance as it beds in (and run in continues after 5-10000kms up to 20,000kms) IMHO 5k would be a minimum to start tuning it - ensure the engines well bedded in and as the engine itself gets better, the tune then will be even better again. Cheers Paul
