The saga continues, Ok all this is what’s happened…… I went to Ford service center to get the problem fixed. I explained to the manager & the supervisor of the center of the problem that has occurred & they said to me it might be the TPS as previously stated on page one. I then asked them how long would it take for this problem to be fixed, They were unable to give me a time frame as they had to find the fault first then go from there, so I handed them the keys and they gave me a ride home. Four hours later I haven’t heard anything, so I decided to give them a call to see if I would have a car for the weekend. They say to me its been ready for a while now & thought to myself uz are fu*ked! When I got there and I state this is what they told me, what the problem was- They connected a laptop to the car ECU and found some dirty data and I was told that the this data said the waste gate actuator was closed (im guessing momentarily) I then asked what that has to do with the problem im having as the waste gate actuator has nothing to do with the idling RPM they said due to this dirty data the ECU will decide if the problem is severe and will shut down if it detects any possible damage & this is why it may have been playing up, he also said that it’s the only thing that they found on the data log. So to fix the problem they reset the ECU (deleted all previous data) put the latest tune & tested the car & found that the revs were not dipping past 750 rpm any more. I drove home less then 5 mins and everything seemed fine, so I guess only time will tell if this problem has been fixed. And to all that have been reading this I thank you for your advice and help, this journey has really pissed me off and I guess it could happen to anyone, just as its not me again!

I guess everyone’s got there own opion but for me I don’t have $57k to though away so im going to do the most I can to protect my pride & joy. To put it in prospective this car to me is like a rich / well off person buying a high end sports car e.g.- Porsche / Ferrari, I would imagine that if you had a car like that you would spare no expense. So to cut a long story short my XR6T is my Porsche / Ferrari & it will probably be the most expensive car ill ever own unless I win the lotto or get a fat pay rise.

Well Dirty32, I guess u have never bought a new car? A XR6T starts at $42k not including any on road costs I then added as many extras as I possibly could afford- Metallic paint Leather interior, they mixed a colour to match the paint Neo and embroidery different from standard and choice of stitching colour over $3k option (custom form the factory) premium audio Paint protection Tint Floor mats (XR) Spare Alloy 18" striping pack Side air bags Reverse sensors They were asking me to fork over $57k but I got them down to $52k and I had to wait over one month for it to get built. So to answer your question yes When putting insurance for the car its $57k to replace. This is why my fist post is so ridiculous!!!!

Well thanks all for your help….. I'm glad to know there is some sympathetic owners out there. I have call Ford up today and they will be picking up the car tonight (via tow truck) and bringing to the factory to look over…. I spoke to the dealer principal & says that they have never heard of this problem happening. So fingers crossed that my beast comes back better than ever (maybe they can chuck some 20's on to compensate for the pain and suffering)

Just to clarify, I went for a little drive this morning and the revs are idling at 750 rpm but when I slow down at lights (clutch in) the revs drop down to nearly 500 rpm and then it go's back up to 750 rpm. What is the normal idling RPM?, I dont remeber it being that low Ill be contacting Ford today to see what they can do to fix this problem.

No warning lights, no smoke coming from the engine bay, no fuses blown.... nothing that’s why I’m so puzzled. Forgot to add that I just went for my first free service at 3,000 k's and the car passed with a clean bill of health, do they actually check if the ECU is ok / or do anything, Or is this free sh*t just for show. Just had a quick look in the engine bay and even the oil is still fresh (yellow) and all fluid levels are full steering, coolant, oil (even the air filter still looks brand new) Just wondering if I take it back to Ford would they be able to- 1. Find & tell me the problem 2. Does the car ECU log that a problem has occurred? 3. Can they run a diagnostic check to find & fix that problem 4. reprogram the ECU I’m also worried that if im already having a problem at 5,000 k’s what’s the longevity of my car going to be?

Hi All, I own a BF MKII (Update) XR6 Turbo Nov 07 Build & I have just had my fist break down! I’m currently at 5,700 km’s & I was on my way home from picking up the misses from work & about 25 - 30 mins into the drive (M5 General Holmes Drive) Mid – High traffic and the car cut out!! I was in first gear start stop traffic and when I was slowing down (after clutch coming out) the revs went all the way down and stalled, I then tried to start the car again thinking that I stalled but when I started the car again the revs went to around 800 – 900 rpm so I thought sweet, I put my foot on the accelerator and the car would go to about 1,000 rpm and cut out so I repeated around 4 -6 times as you can imagine the traffic building up during peak hour and people shouting at me to get off the road. Lucky for me a tow truck was about five cars back from where I was and pulled In front of me to see if I needed help. So he stuck his head in the car to watch what was going on & asked me if I had fuel (yes but low 55 k’s till empty) & if the car was overheating (just under half) I then did it again and he said it must be a ECU problem?….. but was a bit puzzled as it is a new car. After about 5 -10 mins the car started but the revs were lower then normal and every time I slowed down the car would drop down to 500 rpm so we went to the servo & put $50 of BP 98 Ron fuel and cooled down the car. I call road side assist (Offered to New Ford owners for the first 12 months) and was informed- 1. that my car was not on there systems even after giving them my VIN 2. Did not know what NEO was when asking what the colour was 3. Only provide a tow for up to 20k’s (I was about 45 k’s from home) 4. Offer a courtesy but only if your car is over the value of $60,000.00 (I bought mine for $57,000.00) 5. Was told that it only applies if it is a real emergency (Why would I call?) And to add to that the woman on the phone was a smart ass!! I drove home from the servo praying it wouldn’t happen again….. the revs still quite low dropping down to 800 – 900 rpm when slowing down, but managed to make it. I can’t believe this would happen after changing from a Magna (current shape) with no problems to a car that’s worth three times more. Thoughts?

What does the striping on your bonnet say?
-
Hi All, I guess the discussion was made for me……. I was offered a FREE!!! XR8 bonnet so I have taken it up. But I would like to modify it as suggested above, I found a place that can do the bonnet cut out. Here is what it looks like- The good thing is I will still have the original if I want to go the stock look.
-
Just wanted to know if anyone has fitted a XR8 bonnet to there XR6 Turbo, I have seen a few around but was wondering if this is a nice touch or against the XR6 Turbo code of conduct. Here is the other option I have been thinking of- Drift Bonnet Hi All, Thoughts?

Hi all, Just wondering what VCT (Variable Cam Timing?) does for performance of the car, is VCT similar to VTEC or VVT? On that note does the XR6 Turbo also have VVT (Variable Valve Timing) or is that something only four bangers have?
