  3. Folks, Has anyone else experienced continous issues with their Airbag system ?....Mine has just faulted again for the 7th time (over the past 2 years). It was only supposedly just fixed at my last service 60k 2 weeks ago. The last 3 occasions, the dealer has indicated that they have added a new earthing strap....3 times ? which I find a little suspect. What does one do now ?....I'm frustrated in having to take it to a dealer each time....Can I hassle Ford direct ?...What are my options to try and get a satisfactory resolution... Thanks for any help guys.

  5. Where's the "Don't care" option ?
  6. Said on the radio this morning, that there was a maintenance issue at Kernell which has affected the supply of Optimax. It is anticipated that it will be a further 10 days before supplies are back to normal.

    My Computer

A1. Are you running any P2P software, such as Bit-Torrent, Emule, Kazaa...as more often than not your uploads will exceed downloads. A2. Both Adaware and Spybot search and destroy are good at spyware detection and are available in free form. You can also check out www.whirlpool.net.au as there is a permanent thread relating to free anti-virus software and the like, as well as online scanners, in case you feel that you want a 3rd opinion.
  8. Yep, I know that one very well. The one in Hemel did originate first (I will confess that my mother used to date the person who designed it many many years ago) As for Swindon, it is all flat, with no clear visibility of the so called roundabouts, with the exception of a little bit of paint, which easily get's hidden under all the traffic....I used to find the only guaranteed method, was to point the car towards the exit you wanted, and floor the pedal...worked for me every time....even the police hated that roundabout.
  9. Dazza, Aeriel shot as requested.
  10. It all depends on the junction. In some situations traffic lights are better than roundabouts and vice versa. Back in the UK, a lot of councils jumped on the bandwagon and decided to replace traffic lights with roundabouts, on the basis that roundabouts improved traffic flow. Every was fine, until traffic levels reached a point where roundabouts only contributed to the congestion, primarily through lack of driver education where motorists blocked the roundabout. These days, the councils limit the flow of traffic onto roundabouts, using traffic lights !!. I kid you not, when it can take 30 minutes or more just to get onto the roundabout. As for roundabouts, I know of this wonderful roundabout, which will confuse the hell out of any visiting motorist. It is in a town called Hemel Hempstead just north west of London. This roundabout is called affectionately the 'magic roundabout'. There are 6 major roads, each terminated by a small roundabout, with a large roundabout in the middle....so at each small roundabout, you have to go round to the left, but you can go round the large roundabout to the right..... The following picture will give an idea...
  11. Well at least there are some decent American's out there...by the looks of it, about 49% of them http://www.sorryeverybody.com/
  12. That's interesting, So you can't call a normal landline or mobile with VOIP, just another VOIP user? At the moment that is correct, until such stage as carriers (in this case ISPs) sign agreements with telcos to provide a gateway been the Internet and standard phone lines. This is something which Skype have already done.

    City Rail

OK, I know this is a car site, and who would want to catch a train when they could use their XR, but for those that do, here is the latest edition of the City Rail website (not) http://www.sh*ttyrail.info/ You will need to edit the URL to insert the 'I' in place of the *....unfortunately even the URL get's redefined.
  14. And on what length contract are customer's expected to sign up, and what are the early termination fees should you wish to cancel before the end of the contract ?
  15. Personally, I don't believe it is worth the agro. In the case of Optus and Telstra these are based on signing you up for fixed term contracts, whether it be 12 / 18 or 24 months. Now we have all seen how mobile phones have evolved over the past few years, and the same is currently happening with broadband internet, primarily ADSL, although wireless is becoming popular. In the case of standard telephone services VOIP is one, which does require VOIP capable handsets at each end, but there are other emerging technologies, such as Skype. The question is, do you really want to be fixed into a long term contract in such a dynamic changing environment ?. The savings you may make, may be offset by exit penalties should you decide to change for something better within the contract period. This is my own personal preference, and whilst these types of 'offers' don't work for me, they may work for you....it all depends on what you want and your circumstances. Just to make you jealous, I can phone any fixed line in the US, Europe for ~ 2.5c / minute using Skype, from my PC. My brother recently called me from Germany - If he was to use Germany's phone system, it would cost him 82 euro cents / minute....with Skype only 1.7 euro cents / minute....As for call quality, absolutely no difference. So with emerging technologies like this, do you want to gamble with contracts ?
  16. Nice to see that the FordXR6Turbo forum isn't biased towards Fords, they even advertise Holdens.... (Yes I know the ads are powered by Google, but surely we ought to filter out the competition)
  17. Friendly banter, that is all. Personally, I would like to see a new forum rule which stipulates that posts must be made in English with proper grammer and punctuation. Failure to do so, will result in the offending post being deleted. This will ensure that other members can actually read the posts, and respond to the actual topic in question, rather than trying to interpret what the poster is trying to say, and accidently post an off-topic reply. (although most responses appear to be deliberately off topic ) At least this forum is not as bad as some...where every tenth thread seems to be deleted for being off-topic, bad language, personal attack etc.
  18. Lucky sod ? Absolutely....enjoying a wonderful day at home with the family. What a great way to start the weekend. Thanks everyone.
  19. This is obviously not a fault engineered into your car by Ford but a part failure, sorry but you cant expect everything to be absolutely failsafe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I appreciate that it was a part failure, however Ford have obviously not engineered any detection mechanisms, as they do with bulb failures and the like. It would be more prudent to provide an audible / visual warning, rather than give a false impression that the car is locked. They do this if you attempt to lock the car but the door's aren't fully shut, so surely it would be fairly simple to implement checks to ensure that the locks have engaged.
  20. Yesterday I went to take my T out for a drive, only to find that after unlocking my car the offside rear passenger door wouldn't open, as it was still locked. I could open the door from the inside, but then found that I couldn't lock it. I always press the remote twice to lock the car (primarily to hear the horn beep as an audible warning that the car is locked), and this worked OK, and the locks engaged on all doors with the exception of the rear passenger door. On opening the rear door, all locks dis-engaged and all doors could be opened. Great security. I would have thought that should a lock fail to engage, then the horn would beep rapidly in succession, as it does if the doors aren't fully closed. I was able to take the car to my local dealer, and they replaced the lock (under warranty) and everything is now good. You have been warned....Locking the car may appear to lock the car (horn beeps on second remote press), buttons recess into door panels, but in reality it could still be open if you have a faulty lock. Thanks Ford....great security.
  21. Doesn't look like there are many IT geeks reading this at the moment....you could always try whirlpool.net.au, and you will probably get several dozen responses.
  22. How you raise you kids does have a significant impact, although it is not the only thing which is attributed to safe driving etc. As for saying Ford are the leader, they may be better than Holden, but they are just as guilty. The maximum speed limit is 110 (with the exception of NT, but this may change), and yet Ford provide a car that is capable more than twice that (currently limited to 235). If the car manufacturers truely have a duty of care, then they would ensure that their cars (without mods) cannot break the rules of the road. Now that would be duty of care. But then, if they did that, Ford and all other car manufacturers would loose revenue, because who would want to buy a car that isn't allowed to perform like they do at the moment. Let's not forget, that both Ford and Expensive Daewoo are both Australian off shoots of US corporations. PS : If I have mis-understood your thread and responses, it is probably because I can only read/write and speak English. Perhaps if you care to use correct grammer, spelling and punctuation you will have a better chance of putting your point across clearly. EDIT : And to answer the thread title, isn't this what all business do, ie reduce safety features, reduce service etc, to increase profits. One could argue that in the case of reduced Service, Ford are worse than Holden. Just ask those who experience squeaky brakes, diff clunk and the like. Having been a previous Expensive Daewoo owner, and now a T owner, I can say that my experience of Ford service is generally attrocious.

    Joke Of The Day

Substitute Norwegian for Irishman, and it's more applicable
  24. Ok, so they reduce revenue through reduced fines....so in order to balance the books, they'll increase tax on petrol. As for the electronic speed reminders...
  25. If you feel so passionate about it, raise it with your local MP. Personally, if you get done for hooning, wear the consequences. Perhaps one reason why VIC is taking this approach is to be heavy handed, because bahaviour like this is out of control. Penalise hard, and perhaps you have a chance of stopping it. Whilst it may not be the best solution, when you have few police to enforce the law as it stands, then perhaps you have to implement drastic measures. If you Hoon, you have every right to be penalised as the law defines...if you don't want to take the chance, then don't hoon. And please don't give the crap about taking high performance car without parents's consent...as this becomes a parental responsibility.
