Massive Understeer At The Track, What To Do?
Smoke them tyres replied to xr_velocity's topic in Wheels and Tyres
Sliding and taking the foot of the loud pedal The nice slides show that there is no available wind up in the driveline ie no tramp from the blade links. Exactly how it should be. The design engineer's reason for putting them there in the first place. The momentary lightness in the wheel is probably a moment of tyre slip as well. The old soft bushes would have just deformed to absorb it. Not the lightest cars. A small price to pay for the gains made..... -
Vibration On Freeway After Spring Change
Smoke them tyres replied to Pazzo's topic in Suspension and Handling
Driveshaft angles at that ride height less than ideal. The rear section must have each CV spinning on it's own centreline...only by a few degrees or so. This lessens vibration. If it all spins on the same centreline, it can induce some element of whip/vibration. Agree with the post above. The car is not designed to be at that consistent height in normal operation. -
Massive Understeer At The Track, What To Do?
Smoke them tyres replied to xr_velocity's topic in Wheels and Tyres
Great, intuitive and thorough write up....well done. Just what is required to see how it has improved without actually being there. Setup (IMO) is now within the "window"....an effective window showing that bucket loads of money don't need to be spent, just spent in the right areas. Sounds much better and much more pleasurable to drive: -increased and sustainable mid turn grip, not just transient turn in -balance -compliance -controllable and easy to drive at the limit -able to be steered to good effect on the throttle ......just how the car should be. And all linked to one another. The last 2 points are very good indicators that the chassis is now much happier and more balanced. This is good info that shows monster spring/sway bar rates are overkill and achieve more in "unbalancing" the car than anything else. Keep an eye on the front inside tyre wear as time goes by. If it starts to happen, replace the upper control arm bushes with poly as well. That will put an end to that issue. Easy to do as the spring/damper assy remains untouched. A press is required though. Make sure to have a good look at the upper ball joint lock bolt. One of mine had a thread issue. I replaced both of them just to be sure. I think the std ones may be a bit soft. A 6 point hex head will fit in it's position ok. For fine tuning...... When you feel comfortable with it, I would still try it with no rear bar, but having the "baseline" to judge the difference is important. It's effect should be to help lessen the front understeer at the limit (ie help unload it) and improve rear traction also especially on bumpy exits. Having the 275's at the rear will help it greatly with no rear bar. -
Quite a beat up really considering that almost all the comments were from KK.....another outright l*ar. The comment was reported by who? Really reputable if they cannot even say where it came from wouldn't you think? Do you honestly believe that she and the media are reputable???? If it is to be taken at face value (which I wouldn't)....."investigate" is completely different to enact. More beat up and innuendo for a lack of brains and ethics is all that Labor have. That's what has gotten them into trouble in the first place. They cannot even tell the truth on their death bed. Yep, politics is a grubby job, but that mob have taken it to such an incompetent unbelievable LOW.

Taken it to the track yet? -
Still a concern though, as to say we are ok compared to the others who are in monumental debt does not give me a warm inner glow. And the fact that we do not have much to show for it.

Without having a go or being a SA, it's quite a blanket statement to say "ALL". More a matter of degrees I would think?????....shades of grey etc. The range of competing interests that we all have as individuals is large. I agree that they all could do better, but the opposition should not wear the same reputation as the current mob in govt. They have done that ALL TO THEMSELVES....how they have manged to f*ck it up so quickly and so thoroughly beggars belief.

I have thought for some time that this useless PM would: -take people's opinion of politicians to a new historic low -have public opinion turn on her faster than KRudd I just didn't estimate how low. How this cobbled together rabble can be so useless and hare brained is just beyond belief. The thread on tools at work is in the wrong place.

Agree absolutely RHR. I can sum it up from my point of view like this: -no genuine policies because of no brains/no competence -no willpower to acquire the above If they had some ethics, it would at least provide a safeguard against their own ineptitude.....but seeing as they do NOT....... -a lack of ethics leads to -fabrication, deception, untruth and smearing as your only available tactics. What a horrible, untrustworthy and condescending person she is.

Sycophant is the best (polite) word I know to describe her. What an absolute keystone cops operation they are. People will not have to worry about interest rates with home loans, the Labor Party will blow out the cost of living first. Labor and their mono thought voters say they are worried about TA being PM....what a crock. I would say they take their blinkers off because the incumbent is the actual danger.

A great common sense read. How true all of the comments in this thread have become. I am ALWAYS suspicious when narrow goal groups shout their message loud and ridicule any other discussion. Narrow minded zealots rather than consider likely/possible alternatives- zealots and dogma.....always a bad recipe. It is now believed by the "non believer scientists" that the level of radiation activity from the sun is a more likely cause. The level of radiation over the entire earth has to be a contributing factor one would think??????? Then there's the CFC's taking their toll on the ozone layer for the next 70 years or so. The sun's "activity" apparently correlates well with the temperature variations on earth by geologists. Increased radiation would also help explain melanoma rates etc??? Professor Bob Carter and Lord Christopher Monckton are also worth a read......or a view on YouTube. The fact they have gone from GW to CC says it all....a fall back position if ever there was one. It would also suit Joooylia as they have created their budgetry black hole and rather than show some fiscal rigour, will run around trying to find new ways to fill it.

Guys, Not sure whether I'm getting a good deal atm on my Dec05 BF. Currently with Lumleys for comprehensive at approximately $950/year. The only mods are a PW stage 1 intercooler and uprated std height Kings with KYB dampers (front only). What have been your experiences....good and bad.

Harley used to be owned by the same mob that made bowling balls....AMF. Maybe there was an engineer exchange program within the company that still lingers to this day????? They seemed to be finally heading in the right direction with the Buell's with the new engine, but have now closed Buell down. I don't think they get the whole business evolution thing.

Humour not intended to be taken seriously....... Difference between a Harley and a Hoover?.....position of the dirt bag. Corners are too much fun to ignore. They ain't great on anything resembling a fun corner. That LH side transfer case is laughable, as are the footboards. Handlebar tassles are another one. Fine if they kept the motors, but the frames, suspension and brakes are in need of moving forward just a few decades. Losing some weight on them would be a help too. Only 2 cylinders to house, but still the weight of the Nimitz. Probably how they manage the "smooth ride" with basic suspension.

Absolutely spot on Ian. The current incumbent drongos unfortunately for us, neither have the brains or the guts to get the job done. The Mary River thing is evidence enough on it's own..... These are pics of the Kedron Brook (yes, normally a brook) which I took today. It was built as flood mitigation after the '74 floods......and it's catchment area is not that huge either.

Krytox Or Dielectric Grease?
Smoke them tyres replied to bjcrown's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
The effort required with no lube is what may screw the coils........ Krytox is good, but that price is ridiculous. It can be sourced from other outlets than Ford who get it from other places anyway. Dielectric compund would be safe to use for there. There are also rubber lubrication compounds out there and that is what I would use as a reasonably priced alternative. -

I have an older Falcon that I will be converting to fuel injection soon (). The triple DCOE's will have to go in the display cabinet..... Wolf V500 to go in. It was made just before fuel injection came in, and hence the fuel tank opening is not big enough to fit a pump assy in, so a surge tank with an internal pump would be the go. I have an external pump (Bosch 044) at the moment and it is just too damn noisy. I can't fit an XE/XF tank as the chassis rails in those were different for the coil spring rear end, and they massaged the shape of the tank, so a fuel tank swap is out also. I could make something, but would rather buy something pre-sorted....the list of projects is long. I found this from EFI Hardware in Melb..... Are there any others around that I can be pointed in the direction of so I have some choice? It would need to be able to: -allow pump fitments like Bosch 040/044 (600hp capability) -twin pumps to allow for redundancy would be great, but not a deal breaker -mount style? -fittings? -price? -presumably, it would be fabricated alloy
