  1. I would agree that the correct oil to use is Mobil 424. I have used this oil in a Kayaba japanese p/s pump and is as quiet as a mouse. Don't let any air into the system, but if you do need to refill it after air has entered the system, jack the front end off the ground and crank it over whilst turning the steering from side to side. If you just refill it after air has entered the system and use the idling engine to pump it around, the air contaminated oil will just circulate through the system leading to annoying pump groan on steering application.
  2. Any idea on metal spec used (re durability?)
  3. Does anyone make a better Intercooler pipe from the turbo to the standard intercooler? Price? The standard one is a joke! (not feeling up to stuffing around by making one: *&%%%$#@!)
  4. Guys, I've had and modified turbo engines for years (with plain bearing turbos mind you- no failures) and have always just used good oil and good Ford filters (AFL1) with oil fed directly from the engine oil gallery to the turbo via an external line. Is it imperative to run this filter? (1 less failure point?). No other turbo cars that I have heard of run an "auxilliary" fiter like this. Is Ford being overly cautious because it is not a plain bearing turbo? Would'nt the engine filter take out particles smaller than the screen anyway, or am I missing something? The recently purchased BF should be good for a long time with good oil changes yeah?
  5. Any ideas of fitment dates (re build dates) for the "new" item?
  6. Have been reading that some cars have been twisting input shafts on these boxes and that a newer (improved) heat treated item is now available. Is there a build date for cars for this uprated/improved item? What will the old one take before it shows signs of distress and temporarily curtails the search for more power? Are there any other weaknesses that increased power levels have shown with this box?
  7. VDO used to have one in their ctalogue a few years ago (make sure it is their big catalogue and not just the instrument catalogue). This was before Siemens bought them- not sure if they still do, but definitely worth a look........Cost I was given was around $400 then.
