  1. The launch and chicane speeds I wish I had! I also did end up spending my entire evening doing a write up, but posted it over in my build thread
  2. Took it to the plex last night to see what my trap speeds are. Only managed a 12.2 @ 187km/h which is 0.3s / 7km/h slower than 7 years ago. It was a bit of a warm humid feeling night which wouldn't have been helping. My intake temps were above 50° at the start of the run and ended up around 60° at the end. So googling things, the weather in 2010 when I ran the PB was probably like 14° (it was after the 9pm burnouts, note temp drop on below graph) and probably denser air also (timeslip from 2010 had no weather readings annoyingly). It's kinda apples to oranges anyway since I've had valve springs changed and retune a couple years after that which brought power on earlier, and now have a couple extra degrees of timing as well...peak boost in gear was still only less than 16PSI last night though. Logs from Torque app via OBD2 Bluetooth ELM427 dongle show the horrible heat soak at the track (and my lack of stalling it up much) Keen to see a PB down the 1/4...come on winter! I'm also considering adding ducting to where the stock intake snorkel used to attach, because it's just sitting there open in the engine bay (cold side piping in the way) and will no doubt be sucking warm air when idling, plus dirtying my filter faster as Wiggum pointed out.
  3. I had also entered the Racewars/Great Southern Street Machines Association/CAMS inaugural sprint course that was held in an existing course layout, a closed off road section of an industrial area 15 mins out of Albany. I have never done course work before, closest was a defensive driving day. Never made it to any of the forum gatherings at the RAC skidpan or anything over the years so I was a tad nervous about putting it into a kerb and folding a wheel over (no insurance on a race track!). Pics from the start of the day: Clickable links to allow with zooming in (recommended!): http://I.imgur.com/ttWHXhN.jpg http://I.imgur.com/BxOxzwN.jpg SO Boy did I enjoy myself! ...a bit too much on the first proper hot lap (done after a sloooow sighting lap with all cars then a 70% effort practice lap). Waiiit for itt..... (shame the camera wasn't a tad lower to see the stick...also watch me remember to disable TC at the 1:00 mark after I saw it activate around the hairpin hahaha) Phone cam again gives a better feel for speed in that section I checked the rotors after the first lap and noticed the blue-ing from the 1000m runs was lessening - should have taken pics of the hot spots earlier! Bonnet up between laps! With the kerbs avoided I managed to get faster each lap which was great, but traction proved to be troublesome both on corners and under power. Understandable with 320 treadwear Pilot Sport 3's on there in 245/45/17 Here was my chosen target opponent to compare myself to, a manual BF Not sure how accurate it is but I was told his rotors cost $1200 each. Owner also has some sort of other car which is a 1200hp beast and he owns the local tyre shop that was sponsor for the event so I guess I believe it! These are the rear brakes, look about as big as my front Brembos. Similar caliper to rim barrel clearance as me hahaha. 265 wide 18's, nothing crazy, but treadwear 200 and a lot of contact area (no pic of tread sorry). It turns out the owner Michael Clark had also raced this course before as shown later by his consistent times (when he wasn't intentionally baking the tyres!). Julian's GT40 replica, the engine is very real I considered a sneaky rim swap to get some phat traction I probably would have looked a lot like this I was also keen to beat the only HSV on the course Looking over the 1000m results Mr 075 trapped 30 kays higher than I did - 271.31 km/h, which means a fair bit more power. I have about 440hp and got 241km/h, and it takes 1000hp to run in the 300+ club thanks to diminishing returns due to wind resistance. Not sure what power number 075 had but I'd guess 700+hp. But the results showed I landed pretty much bang on middle of the pack, and well ahead of the Clubbie! Only one second behind the manual XR6T with more experience and fatter tyres, not to mention some AWD track focused cars, I call that a successful outing! I wanted a 58 second lap badly but had too many powerskids in there, the only time I haven't wanted them hahaha Final lap was the fastest (dashcam missed the start for some reason): Check out the in car from the GT40 that placed 5th. Dat launch! Dat chicane! Anyway that was that. Nothing broken, greeeeeaaaat success! All wrapped up I cruised back to Perth feeling exhausted but happy and even happened upon the GT40 along the way which helped break up the boredom of cruising alone (no one else from the crew had Tuesday off or had entered the Monday sprint).
  4. Car is thus far unkillable (thankfully) and performed great all weekend. Not on track early enough for the 400m runs (had to wait for power to come on in the morning so I could refuel the car!) but I didn't care since 800m drag racing is what everyone was really after anyway. The new Albany Airstrip track was smoother and colder than old Wyalkatchem which was a nice change. My best 800m speed was frustratingly close to my 2015 previous 1000m PB of 230km/h At least I beat the LSA equipped 2015 Maloo My only issue for the weekend was a tiny boost leak that developed mid run Saturday arvo (trap speeds dropped to 209km/h) but the day was over anyway and it was easily fixed once back at base thanks to a spare from @mummba Oh hello there you cheeky thing I fingered this hole. OK, the leak was not so tiny. Removed that section of hose from just before the throttle body entirely and clamped the stub with a nice new chair stopper. Quick night time test drive confirmed...fixed! Quick odo check on the way to racing Sunday confirmed engine should almost be broken in and good for the 1000m event: Sunday morning 800m racing saw me equal my 229.30km/h of Saturday (bit odd if you ask me, I think the timing gear has readouts in steps larger than 0.01 of a second, we saw a few identical results over the weekend amongst ourselves). Come Sunday arvo the 800s were done and it was time for the 1000m top speed (single car at a time) event. Two runs were had and I felt it hitting a wall in fifth. A quick trip to the staging lanes by Dr Boosticle saw the 240km/h speed limiter removed (finally hahaha) and I was able to do one more pass before they closed up to let the top 20 duke it out. I managed to run 241km/h down Albany Airstrip, putting me 70th out of 127 cars. I was 47th in 2015. Competition is getting tougher! 39th in class but unsure of the total class count. There was mention of a headwind up to 20km/h as well which would have robbed a bit from everyone's trap speeds. Also got ten more km/h than that LSA Maloo from earlier, an important yardstick hahaha. I'm assuming it was stock. I was very stoked after the 237 and 239 to bust the 240 barrier, here's footage of the run. You can hear the Racewars Radio lads mentioning the high kms that the engine has done (I boasted about it to them on the start line during the 800m runs) Manual mode, all day, erryday Phone version if you can be bothered (slightly better sound and feeling of speed) So with that day's racing completed the Racewars crew I'd booked a house for returned to our lodgings and everyone except me got on the turps to celebrate the excellent weekend. I refrained due to having a third day of competition ahead!
  5. "Minor" update which is taking hours to write as usual Luke fixed all my boost leaks while I was on holiday in Jakarta for a wedding (what a sucker) and once I was back we had a quick go at a tune touch up (well, he did, I just mashed the pedal) to make use of the KPM 1000CC injectors and new intank fuel pump but we got rained out and with no spare time before Racewars 2017 didn't get to add more boost, just a little more timing. I cleaned out the intercooler with the advised product...E85 Before...yuk After...still yuk, just a different shade The first batch of outgoing E85 showed it was doing a decent job though Actual stones in the intercooler...WTF Wiggum warned me that any popped off hoses were my fault now so I made sure the difficult to reach joins weren't going to be a problem...heh All back together and good to go on the five hour road trip!
  6. Best show ever It's how I learned not to wizz on the electric fence
  7. Working on a giant post in my build thread showing logs from the run, stay tuned
  8. Nah, spare in there just like 2010 though.
  9. Show us what they sound like when you are doing a skid
  10. Something chipped the new paint off in multiple places on my RHS caliper, not happy about it. Just can't have nice things, if you want them to stay that way, don't use them. But then again what's the point of owning them if they just sit dead! 241km/h in 1000m weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  11. I'm glad I didn't have to spend an hour writing it up hahaha
  12. PPS 12.2 @ 187 IIRC, air was warm, moist and thin. Most frustrating. 2010 me laughs at my efforts.
  13. What colour are your 1200hp axles from factory?
  14. Dash is slowly dying, fuel back light intermittent, tacho back light partially goes at random too. Bought a spare, only 200,000 km. Car will feel new again! CBF fitting it though, it's a different colour which bugs me.
  15. If it's got tits or wheels, it's gonna cost you money and cause you problems
  16. Blade bushes? I found replacing mine with Superpro at the front end of the rear blades improved the back end a lot.
  17. You can have mine, it's in the in law's shed all torn up hahaha Works great Trade you 2 PSI for it PS cheers for fixing table Keith, I knew you'd come through with the goods on that one Cheers
  18. What colour is his pod filter though? We also discussed this last night at the drags. Speaking of which it was a slightly warm, humid night with less dense air and I trapped at 187 a few times down the 1/4. 7 years ago my PB trapped at 120mph so 194kmh, need a cold night to get a PB. Or 2 more PSI. 16 pound is so 2008
  19. Man I gotta go to bed, here's a couple of decent pics I've found so far Hard to make out but the red GT40 is the lead car in this convoy down from Perth RW Taxi rank Not much changes under here Mark and myself, both cars flipping each other off in this excellent shot by @TH0MM0 Before you give me crap for losing to a girl, I won this 800m race and have footage to prove it Racing and economy do not belong in the same sentence The odo count when I finally got home
  20. Oh forgot to post the sprint results. I finished my first ever circuit event in 21st place in a field of 41 which I was very happy about, here's the final results table showing all runs: Class: ALL (All Competitors) Place Car No Driver Vehicle Practice Run 1 Run 2 Run 3 Run 4 Fastest 1 124 Simon Richards 1991 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R 1:00.12 53.49 (P) 58.07 53.62 DNS 53.49 2 109 Jono Hansen 2003 Mitsubishi Evo 8 57.63 56.27 1:19.08 54.70 59.46 54.70 3 160 Ian Clarke 2006 Subaru WRX 1:09.57 57.65 54.88 55.54 55.59 54.88 4 161 Matt Palmer 2001 Mitsubishi Evo 7 57.45 55.40 56.86 (P) 1:01.13 57.00 55.40 5 40 Julian O'Hara 2007 Ford GT40 Replica 57.42 55.95 55.55 55.44 55.50 55.44 6 Chris Caruso 2007 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 1:04.20 59.79 59.40 55.83 55.54 55.54 7 262 Brendon Winterbourn 2011 Mitsubishi Evo X RS 58.71 57.37 55.79 55.62 DNS 55.62 8 134 Nick Hansen 2008 Nissan R35 GT-R 59.40 58.99 55.64 55.64 56.56 55.64 9 204 Shane Kenna 1998 Toyota MR2 1:04.70 1:02.78 58.73 58.56 56.16 56.16 10 90 Brendan Blake 1998 Nissan Skyline 1:07.12 58.45 57.04 57.02 56.27 56.27 11 180 Jarrod Lewis 2001 Mitsubishi Evo 7 1:10.78 1:00.36 58.56 56.68 56.95 56.68 12 224 Jacob Ayres 2001 Subaru Forrester 1:03.97 1:00.49 57.70 57.67 57.03 57.03 13 181 Jared Smith 1999 Nissan Skyline 1:06.70 59.45 1:00.42 57.79 DNS 57.79 14 167 Matt Davis 2001 Subaru Liberty B4 1:06.13 1:00.28 58.23 58.61 57.88 15 179 Alex Meyer 1998 Nissan Silvia 1:03.97 59.05 DNF 58.48 57.95 57.95 16 121 Nicolas Del Carlo 1994 Nissan Silvia 1:01.00 58.62 58.04 (P) 1:04.04 58.04 17 9 Michael Clark 2007 Ford XR6T 58.47 58.25 58.76 58.30 1:09.16 58.25 18 190 Aaron Doust 2002 Subaru WRX 1:07.69 (P) 1:07.35 59.06 58.41 1:17.38 58.41 19 214 Shane Hardie 1999 Mitsubishi Evo 6 1:04.20 1:01.04 59.86 1:00.04 58.54 58.54 20 129 Andrew Del Carlo 1993 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R 1:05.00 1:01.23 1:01.02 58.75 59.41 58.75 21 106 Steven Bellas 2007 Ford XR6T 1:06.87 1:03.24 1:00.20 59.18 59.09 59.09 22 198 Ben Jindrich 2011 Mitsubishi Ralliart Lancer 1:10.19 59.25 DNF 1:00.37 DNS 59.25 23 234 Paul Sanford 1999 Mitsubishi Evo 6 1:04.78 1:02.47 1:00.11 59.35 59.84 59.35 24 111 Adrian Wiseman 1986 Mazda FC RX7 1:02.91 1:00.94 1:00.83 1:00.04 1:00.19 1:00.04 25 39 Brendon Walker 1998 Nissan Skyline 1:09.45 1:05.18 1:01.23 1:00.32 1:00.59 1:00.32 26 209 2015 Mitsubishi Evo X 1:17.63 1:01.59 1:01.84 1:00.42 1:00.56 1:00.42 27 164 Goran Hajdin 1993 Nissan Skyline 1:10.71 1:00.58 1:00.44 (P) 1:04.53 1:00.44 28 171 Brad Dean 1999 Nissan Skyline 1:05.45 1:01.31 1:01.36 1:00.65 1:00.59 1:00.59 29 154 Brenton Lapworth 1984 Toyota Corolla 1:00.63 1:01.93 1:00.69 DNS 1:00.69 30 212 Mark Sforcina 2000 Subaru WRX 1:04.87 1:04.42 1:01.92 1:03.94 1:01.50 1:01.50 31 86 Gary Francis 1988 Mazda MX5 1:10.87 1:02.05 DNS 1:02.05 32 103 Michael Giles 1999 Toyota Chaser 1:07.45 1:04.48 1:03.87 1:02.20 DNS 1:02.20 33 202 Hudson Sforcina 2000 Subaru WRX 1:07.22 1:04.00 1:04.33 1:03.34 1:02.42 1:02.42 34 75 Paul Kingston 2007 HSV Clubsport 1:09.80 1:03.43 1:03.02 1:02.92 DNS 1:02.92 35 79 Brendon Greaves 2001 Nissan Silvia 1:05.42 1:03.64 1:03.45 1:03.08 DNS 1:03.08 36 233 Aaron Grant 1983 Toyota AE86 1:15.21 1:08.65 1:05.05 1:04.63 1:04.10 1:04.10 37 217 Daniel Inthalasoot 1998 Nissan Skyline 1:13.48 1:05.60 1:04.34 1:05.37 DNS 1:04.34 38 995 Alan Mort 1977 Torana 1:12.69 1:10.56 1:08.24 1:07.91 1:06.78 1:06.78 39 41 Nathan Turrell 2002 BMW 1:08.24 1:08.25 1:07.34 1:07.81 1:07.34 40 158 James Crutchley 1996 Nissan Skyline 1:18.80 1:11.89 1:08.26 DNS DNS 1:08.26 41 215 Mark Sugg 1938 Ford Pickup 1:22.67 1:11.94 1:09.28 1:09.95 1:11.18 1:09.28 Edit Whoah that be a wide table.
