  1. Averaged 10.17 L/100 km when I lived in the country, and I wasn't being shy about using the accelerator to get to the speed limit or for overtaking, mostly driving at 105-115 kph, and that is the average for an 8 month period and about 21,500km. Per tank average was between 9.1 and 11.3 Since moving to the city I get 12.7 L/100 km, mostly daily commute in stop start traffic, and that's over about 2.5 months and 2,900km, and again, I'm not being shy with the accelerator to reach the speed limit. Per tank average varies a fair bit though, per tank goes between 11.8 and 13.6. I have a fuel use app on my iPhone so figures are pretty accurate. Oh yeah, I always run it on ultimate 98 and it's a manual
  2. Just ticked past 60,000km in my FG, had it serviced yesterday, no real problems except for an issue with the automatic light sensor which existed from the time I got it and took two trips into ford to get fixed properly (it always thought it was dark... premium display is hard to read in night mode during the day). Only other real problem was a dead headlight at about 55,000km.
  3. I'd recommend a portable unit myself, $500 tom tom (ie top model) will bluetooth to your phone etc, and even show you your messages. I bought my FG XR6T as an ex ford "demo", so it came with sat nav, and I have to say I find it rather annoying. It's slow, and it gives some pretty stupid directions. It's also not as simple to update as an external unit which can simply be plugged into a PC. I have a Tom Tom which I got as a present before my car... it's definitely better functionality and customisability (I don't think that's a word) wise. All that said, I do agree that there is something about the factory unit, it is handy, especially with the whole integration thing, but the remote sucks, for $2.2K you'd expect a touchscreen. Also be sure to keep spare batteries as you can not do anything with the sat nav without the remote. When I first got the car the batteries in the remote where dead and it kept coming up with a warning about using it while driving which I couldn't get rid of. My GPS is also quite slow when it comes to calculating routes... needs an SD card with roads only for the state you're in, or at least the option to change which states it searches for suburbs etc.
  4. Hey all, I was going to wait for the new "orion" model to come out but after seeing ads for the latest deals on the normally aspirated XR6 I'm considering buying a new car now. I currently have a BA MKII XR6, auto, which I really like, except I bought it second hand and the stock standard stereo and inability to upgrade really piss me off. My car will be out of warranty at the end of the year so it seems like a good time to go to a new one. When I bought my car I was tossing up between my current car, which was 9 months old at the time, and an almost out of warranty MKI turbo. I test drove the turbo and loved it, except while driving it at a steady 70kph at one point it lost all power and I had to go to neutral, turn it off and turn it on to get the engine running normally again which didn't seem good for a car about to be out of warranty. I've always missed the turbo though. So anyway, I'm looking to upgrade to a new XR6T, seeing as to get the features I want I pretty well have to buy brand new. Most importantly I want the Premium ICC so I can upgrade the stereo properly using the Alpine Vehicle Hub Pro and I want a Manual... though I've yet to confirm my desire for a manual through a test drive. I also plan to get the alloy spare (I drive in the country every so often and I don't want to have to drive 80kph if I get a flat). Driveaway without any discounts this would cost about $48500 by my calculations (stupid high WA stamp duty). I was also considering a sunroof and the sports leather seats but I'm not sure I really want to fork out the extra 5 grand. Any thoughts on the manual vs auto thing (I think I just prefer the control of a manual, plus there's a huge lag in my current auto when I put my foot down which annoys the hell out of me). Also if anyone could give any insight as to how much sunroof and leather adds to resale when selling 2nd hand, are they a pain/comfy in summer etc? Ford are currently throwing in stamp duty, 12 months CTP and comprehensive insurance on the auto XR6 for $39990 so I figure they must be able to do a decent deal on the turbo. I'm thinking that when they bring out the "orion" the price on the turbo will be up on the current $42990, and they'll be less willing to get the price down. Should I be waiting on the new ford next year? I'm not sure I'll like it based on the pics I've seen. So yeah, your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey all, found the site through google while trying to do some research on the newly (slightly)updated XR6T. Been here before but never joined, thought I had but that must've been the ford forum. Now to make a post in another area...
