  1. How does the electric lockup work ? Does that mean after a certain speed it locks totally like a stock stall converter and the rpm drops right down or is it via a switch to lock it or what.?

Yeah thanks mate, mine is 4spd auto and my dyno figures are takin in 3rd gear aswell (Always thought it was 3rd) but I have seen some figures on here are takin in 4th on 4spd auto's so I was wondering maybe that could be the reason for my lowish figures compared to some. Ok update, fitted a new Rajab Racing Developments direct fit Garrett cooler and removed the centre muffler, also had a new custom 10psi tune by Rajab Racing and its now making 210rwkw on the same RRD dyno I got my first figures from, its peaking at 10.1psi and I have fitted a turbosmart MBC and instead of it dropping like it used to all the way back to 5.5-6psi it is sitting at about 7.8-8psi in the top end, we had to close the gaps on the plugs some more so I re-cleaned the throttlebody again, it feels strong on the street, but its farting a little at times under boost (sometimes even on quarter and half acceleration when boost builds), its not all the time but every now and again, Alan from Rajab has told me it's valve springs starting to play funny buggers and it should pick up more with a change to heavier springs and hold boost better. Im not sure if its the dyno that's harsh or not and reading lowish figures as I had a run in with another auto XR6T flashed to 10psi which had 2nd CAI etc, which I havent got yet, im still running the factory genuine ford element and the factory airbox with no 2nd CAI, he claims he's is making 263rwkw on APS's dyno on 10psi. Anyhow he was egging me on, on a private road obviously, and I wasnt to confident only making the lowish figures, in the end I thought ill see how I fare and to my surprise I was comfortably walking away from him even with passengers on board and without nearly 200kg of extra ballast on board I would have clearly shown him a clean pair of heels so its got me chuffed. He told me he was making that power after that episode and was looking at me funny when I told him mine. To show that was no fluke I also showed some clean heels to a new VE SS 6ltr auto ute by about 2-3 carlengths aswell. Next stop, injectors and boost to about 12-15psi. Stay tuned. BTW do I just have to change valve springs or do I change collets retainers and all. ? Do they come all in a kit to if that's the case.?

  7. Who made your converter bloosted and how much did it cost ? Did you have any other auto mods or just the hi stall installed.
  8. Just fitting the cooler and piping wont affect a thing mate, wont alter the tune or air fuel ratios in anyway if that's what your worried about. Go for it, I just fitted a RRD cooler to mine and we checked everything on the dyno and shes spot on. Cheers

Hi guys, I want to lower my XR6, I went to bursons today and asked for Kings SSL Rear and Kings SL fronts to suit an 03 BA MK1 XR6T and the guy wasnt very helpful at all, he said there are a few different types and unless I have specific part numbers then he would only be guessing. So have any of you guy's got part numbers of your SSL/SL Kings springs for me, I would much appreciate it, im after the sorta dumped to the tops of the tyres even look but still legal height, my car has 20s on it already so I just wana get it lowered now instead of it looking like a landcruiser. I think most guys who go this combo run them so somebody must have some numbers for me. Thanks again.

Yeah thanks senna_T, I am going to rebuild it later this year with steel rods, forgies, head and crank studs etc and do some turbo mods aswell along the way, hoping to run close to if not 20psi on the street reliably once completed and I have a gun tuner so it should go alright once finished, I know the auto probly wont last so ill be speaking to stan at preston diffs and autos if it sh*ts itself. Hoping to get the MBC tomorrow so ill fit it up and see how it goes. I fitted the factory airbox and filter assembly and its noticably more torquier down low and has better throttle responce down low also over the pod, might chase up a 2nd CAI and fit that with a new K&N aswell but for now ill just test it with nothing more than the MBC to see if there is a difference. On the subject of valve springs, how much are they to buy, and also how much are they fitted.? Cheers

Ok spoke to the owner, he reckons the place that flashed it was AVO and the 3 tunes are stock, 8psi and 10 psi, so I flashed it back to stock, then took it for a drive I think an NA would be faster hahah tried the next tune went abit better and put the 10psi back and it feels a little better but still wouldnt be in the 20rwkw zone I wouldnt think but I will take it and have it re tested on same dyno to compare, if still nothing ive already bought some goodies such as bigger cooler and are drilling and flowing the injectors and will up the boost to 15psi and get my mates to do a full custom tune on it. Might even do valve springs, remove centre muffler, punch cat and see how she goes then, nught break 220rwkw he he he.
  14. Hahaha Yeah I should for an RB but ill perservere with this Dags, ill get this sucker to go hard I am just familiarising myself with it first... Is the actuator a remove turbo job or can it be done on the car.? Oh and I already have 2 quick nissans, just after something newer, resonably fast (11s) and comfy as im catching up to dagabonds age now he he he.

Yes well the dyno boost hose was joint to the inlet manifold and the reading the dyno was getting it 10.1psi then as the revs and speed increase it slowly goes back down to the 5-6psi range again.. Also would me fitting the pod make any difference to dropping off power do you think because obviously it would have been tuned with the factory airbox/filter in place and I fitted the pod myself...

  17. I think your right senna T, ill give it a good going over everything again, try the MBC and if still no good ill get it custom tuned, might also ring previous owner and ask him who tuned it aswell and if he got any sheets with it...
  18. Oh ok, but would it show 10.1psi on the dyno if it was on the standard tune ? Also didnt give me any sheets or info on it other than telling me it had been flashed to 10psi which was 1 of the reasons I wanted to put it on the dyno for to see if it was showing 10psi...

ENVY-T, Unsure what tune is in it as it was purchased like that but on the dyno the air/fuel was spot on, no sign of detonation, but I agree maybe who ever originally tuned it may have put stuff all timing and stuff into it to keep it extra safe, might call up the old owner and ask who originally tuned it...Might give all the exhaust manifold bolt's and turbo bolts the once over to see but I dont think that will be much of a fix if its getting 10psi to the inlet... ZAP_F6, No havent tried flashing it at all, do you mean it might be running the stock tune as in the stock generic tune slightly modded or something else..? Flukey, No I dont... fordboy1981, No idea if its custom or generic but it Sounds like I might have to take it in to get a custom tune done to be certain, at this point just looking for any other possible causes as to why its so low on power... RAP1D, I was thinking the same thought, the boost graph on the dyno is jaggedy up and down badly at 10psi and then jaggedy all the was back down to the 5.5-6psi level, I might try a turbosmart MBC and see if that helps hold it up abit better if not ill replace the actuator, I will probly change it reagardless for a stronger 1 anyway... Tree Monkey, Ive read when its valve springs there tends to be abit of a dip in the mid range and then it picks up again, its not doing that so im not sure whether it may be the case, anybody have any idea on what valve springs cost both on there own and fitted also... senna_T, As mentioned to tree monkey its not dipping mid range and I thought it would atleast be cracking 200rwkw before I would have to be worrying about valve springs but you never know its 1 of them things that can happen... revheadrobbo, Only fitted it becuase I had it lying around, and no its not enclosed and the car was cooled down when it was on the dyno, its not sealed but sits down behind the headlight... senna_T, no not enclosed so I might remove it and fit all the factory stuff back in, but I dont think that would be the cause... Hi guy's im here to pick your brains, I have an 03 XR6T Auto with 91000k on the clock, (One 40s plus year old Dentist owner from new, and it only Had 84000 when I purchased it), only ever mod performed was by previous owner who told me he has had it flashed to 10psi and he gave me the box with the car, only mod I have done is fit a pod filter that's it.. Anyhow I thought great been reading on here of every man and his dog making between 200-240s rwkw but upon putting it on a dyno recently just for interests sake it only makes 185rwkw, (Dyno Dynamic's dual retarder dyno in shoot 6 mode), now I have cleaned throttle body out, gapped the plugs, tightened all clamps, flushed boost solenoid, etc, it's reving out fine so it's not cat blocked but it's boost spiking to 10.1psi to be precise so the dyno say's, but the more it revs out on the dyno the more the boost drops and goes all the way back down to 5.5-6psi and stays there, no matter what its not holding the full 10psi through the whole rev range (Not sure if this is why low power?), so anyhow it's getting the full 10psi to the inlet manifold where it was Tee'd from for the boost reading so it's not leaking I would say, SO has anybody ever had this problem and if so any possible fix or solutions ?. There is no splattering, no fuel starvation, air fuel is spot on etc, its just not making the steam and im quite dissapointed after hearing what everybody else is getting. Any idea or things I should check?? Cheers

Just been reading around and have noticed some people run 968 bosch injectors and other's run siemens deka's, what I want to know is, does any of them have an advantage over the other or there basically as good as each other or 1 particular brand is better but more expensive etc etc.? Looking at purchasing some injectors and am up in the air as to what to buy. Cheers
