My turbo recently shat itself so I have replaced it with a new core and .70 front cover. While checking it all out tonight I noticed the new cover doesnt have the hole for the line which goes to the boost solenoid. My question is, does the cover need to be drilled and tapped for the pressure fitting or can I pick the boost pressure up from the intake manifold? Cheers Beau
Thanks mate, yeah it came up good after the new paint job and the shiney bits in the bay. Yeah it's a bit of a handful but we've brought the power in more progressive so it doesn't torch the rears as much.
it had a crack in number one cylinder. Nothing changed internally except for a new set of rings and bearings, arp headstuds and cometic head gasket. It has a Plazmaman Plenum, fuel rail, FPR and Plaz surge tank on it now
Heres a thread of the mods done to my car http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/58926-im-in-finally/ I got the car retuned today, pretty happy with the outcome. It made 579hp/431kw at 21psi on 98 pump fuel. A big thanks goes to Dan at LK motors who has built my latest motor and stayed back late today to get my car tuned. As soon as I get a chance to scan the dyno sheets I'll upload them
Well the motor is built and we dropped it back into the car yesterday. Today I'll connect everything up and run the fuel Lines for the surge tank and sort out the wiring. Shouldn't be too long and we can fire her back into life.
For anyone interested the annual Expensive Daewoo vs Ford day is on again on the 1st of July. Last year was a great show with its fair share of some cool and tuff rides. I used a brand new holesaw. I slightly started to drill into the dash with the holesaw to give the correct size then cut the vinyl part with a blade. Once this was done I drilled the rest.
Yeah I see why you would use one with the bigger hole, mine was only 35mm so the holesaw was easy. I did mine a few years ago no but I remember my wife sitting in the back seat saying "if you stuff that up I'm gonna cut your balls off".
I drilled my dash to put my starter button in, I had my fingers and toes crossed that I didn't stuff up. That was a 35mm hole. Drilling a hole that big would've been a fun job. Looks good mate. Qik1 has his eboost2 in the same spot.
