  1. Im glad they got the bastard, but the retaliation of his followers is a concern.
  2. If it altered the structural strength of the car at all then no. Also if it affects the airbags sensors then also no.
  3. My missus drives my car a fair bit, mostly with me in the passenger seat or passed out legless in the back. She's only driven it once or twice without me. After I got it tuned and built she was a bit scared to give it a bit but after a few goes off the lights with a few ricers she's used to it now. Hopefully she won't be driving it too much now, she'll be stepping into a brand spanking new XR5 Turbo so she will have her own bit of boosted fun
  4. Yeah I'm not too keen on the fuel smell and my car being a daily it would be a pain to drive with the windows down all the time, think I'll go a surge tank under the car.
  5. Nice power mate well done. Makes me wants FG F6 now. Just a quick question, with your swirl pot in the boot do you get a fuely smell throughout the car? I'm thinking about putting one in mine but don't really want the fuel smell.
  6. They got some great footage from the chopper.
  7. I did see footage of a cam facing the driver (look like Lowndes at the time) and one facing forward at ground level, probably attached to the front wing. I think it was on fox sports footage.
  8. I was talking to a mate who was up the top of the mountain. He said you could hear the thing screeming the whole way around the track. The noise would be unreal.
  9. Button did a 1min48sec lap Lowndes did 1min49sec lap. F1 car smashes Bathurst record Jez Spinks March 22, 2011 - 4:02PM McLaren racer nearly 20 seconds quicker than a V8 Supercar around famous track. A Formula One car has set a new record at Bathurst – lapping Australia’s world-famous motor racing circuit nearly 20 seconds faster than a V8 Supercar. The unofficial time of 1 minute 48 seconds was set by 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button, who was driving the first modern Formula One car to take to the hallowed track. Button’s time, set in a 2008 McLaren, surpasses the previous fastest time clocked by a V8 Supercar, a 2min 6sec achieved by Craig Lowndes last year in a Expensive Daewoo Commodore. Advertisement: Story continues below Five-times Bathurst winner Lowndes was only a second slower than the Briton when given his first taste of a Formula One car as part of a special driver-swap event run by Vodafone, the title sponsor for both Button’s McLaren team and Lowndes’ V8 Supercar outfit. When they swapped to the Late model camira V8 Supercar, Lowndes was six seconds faster than Button: 2min 11sec versus 2min 17sec. Lowndes says the F1 car is impressive compared with a V8 Supercar, and admits it could have gone quicker. “When I first went out it was the acceleration [that amazed me] but when you go through turn two you really realise how much acceleration you have,” he says. “In comparison the V8 [supercar] seems to labour up the mountain. "Potentially it could go a lot quicker but realistically I've been told to bring it back in one piece." Lowndes says he relished the chance to drive the car, admitting he’s not expecting a call from a Formula One team. “No, it’s about 14 years too late [to get a chance in F1] but it’s extremely satisfying to drive a car that’s purpose built for speed and precision. It was a rush of a feeling.” Jenson Button suggested the idea of running an F1 car around Bathurst, but says the circuit’s undulating nature wasn’t without its challenges. “I could hardly turn the wheel coming into the turn [for Conrod Straight] and it was a bit scary down the straight with it being so bumpy,” says Button. “The bit I really enjoyed was from about turn five onwards as you start going up the hill. That section was a real buzz. “This is an iconic race track and it’s great to celebrate the unofficial fastest lap in an F1 car.”
  10. Not too sure about the XCAL2. I think you can check fault codes on it but not to sure about logging, I could be wrong though. I'm thinking about adding an oil cooler in the next few weeks so it will be good to see what temps eveything is running at before and after. Just need some time to have a bit of a look at it.... Stupid work
  11. You should keep them as spares for fun times, like powerskids.
  12. Well I decided to wait until my missus got home from work lastnight to see what I was doing wrong with the computer. With her being a bit of a wizz with technology she got it working in about 2 seconds flat! Turns out I had to download a driver for the xcal. Had a bit of a play with it this arvo after work but ran out of time, I'll have a good go on the weekend.
  13. I downloaded the livelink software from the herrod site and now the computer is saying it cant read the hand held device. is there a driver that need to be installed to communicate with the tuner?
  14. I did a HSV bar once that was thermosetting plastic. It's a yellowy type of colored plastic and an absolute PITA to weld.
  15. I think I read it on one of the mustang US forums. Maybe it's different with our cars
  16. They look good man. While you're at it throw on some bigger brakes so you can pull the thing up haha. On another note, our flights are booked for September
  17. I read that the laptop is best for logging but also read that the device can do it but for a shorter time obviously due to memory. I'm not too keen on cruising around with the laptop in the car.
  18. Ive got a Xcal3 for my car so after finally looking through the instructions I found that data logging can be done with them. So I did a few google searches and found some instructions on how to set up the xcal. after following the instructions I selected 'start data log' on the tuner. it told me to start the engine, after doing this it changed screen for a second or 2 and then said 'communication lost'. Im after some pointers on what I could be going wrong or how to work it properly. I dont want to change anything with it, im just interested to see what my car is doing. It seems like a bit of a waste of money if the features of the tuner cant be used properly. Any help would be good
  19. I'll be doing the same in 4 months. Ive had a few ideas but dont know where to start. I think you would usually start with thanking everyone for coming especially the bride if you're lucky. that's about as far as I have got. A few more ideas or pointers would be good.
  20. these guys build some monsters.
  21. mine ran 335rwkw for a year until a dodgy coil spoiled the fun, went hard until then and copped its fair share of fun. bent number 2 rod. The T5 is still behind the now built motor.
  22. Got my little turbo keyring on Friday. Cool little thing and pretty solid too. Is there any left? My brother is keen on getting one.
  23. Mines got a awc djr on it.
  24. Ah thanks for that. Would any of those colours be close to citric by any chance, maybe dash??
  25. I've ordered a keyring but how do we pay for the stickers that we have requested in this thread?
