  1. don't think I saw one. What was (supposedly) so offensive about them?
  2. Really HATE to be be the bearer of bad news but I have found in my years in the trade that loctite on flywheel/flex plate bolts is a bit of a bad thing. The ONLY times I have ever seen either come loose is when the bolts were done up with loctite. (surprising I know but bear with me) When you do the bolt up the loctite gets squeezed out between the crank and the f/plate. Over time the vibrations cause this loctite to break up and then causes the f/plate to come loose again. For your sake I hope it doesn't happen to you. You prob don't want to do that job again.
  3. I could do that in my sleep.......................................................and probably only in my sleep!
  4. What? no comeback to the the Chev badge question Dags??? Does look tops with those wheels though, Heaps better over standard!!!
  5. Whoever designed the standard BA XR6 17" wheels need to be shot. They are a PAIN IN THE AR$E to change tyres on!! Secondly, anyone have any centre caps they don't want? Broke 2 while trying to get the stupid retaining circlip out.
  6. I am a mechanic and I honestly test drive EVERY car that comes thorugh the door BUT according to what the problem is. never actually thrash the car but do some things that aren't quite 'legal'. If the customer complains of a vibration at over 100kph, we need to make that vibration happen. Some cars we have test driven upto and over 100km's. my dad once took a customers cars to wollongong, as a serious test drive. Whenever we need to do a large test drive we inform the customer while they are there. Occasionally we will take some money off the invoice to compensate for the large test drives. It is part of the service that you must drive the car to make sure it is performing as it should. What those Expensive Daewoo mechanics did and also the other stories told (including mine) are wrong, plain and simple but don't automatically dump on all mechanics just because a little fuel is missing! (although my father sacked a bloke who was syphoning petrol out of customers cars while he was out a few years ago, ended up costing us quite a few hundred $$$ to repay the customers back when fuel was only 80c/L)
  7. Prob the worst I have heard was a Ferrari Testarossa that was involved in an accident while being driven by someone other than the owner. 50k zone, ran into the back of a trailer, skid marks about 130m long, flat spotted all 4 tyres that are upto 365 wide for the rears AND bent the brake pedal. Car was actually repaired although don't think the owner ever took it back (not that I would either)
  8. While the data used for the court case wasn't the engine data recorder it was for the ZF auto. My wife works for ZF and at the time they had the car cordoned off in the workshop surrounded by fencing and black cloth to make it hard to see. The only person that got to see the car was the head technician so no-one knows if there was any physical damage other than him. Appartently he wasn't allowed to discuss his actual findings.
  9. damn dude, nice missus. Oh, and what the hell is the go with the last pic in that asian cat one? That's twisted sh!t right there
  10. Grudgee, WTF??????? 377d 18h 43m 28s

  12. The new version (and yes I know, probably a repost as well.)
  13. REPOST There ya go dags, did it for you. still, any reason to watch it.
  14. maybe so, BUT if he does that and gets pulled over then that 3 month ban goes to 12months or more. A bloke at my wifes work lost his licence for 6 months for speeding and other stuff. He continued to drive and got done for un-licenced TWICE (dumb mongrel). His suspension went from 6 months to 5 years. Would you believe he got caught AGAIN reversing a truck out of the work premises to let another truck out, they doubled his suspension. He now has about 8 1/2 years left. So, my advice, fight it if you want but you seem to have plans anway and a little unfazed by it all, Don't drive, and see you on the road in 3 months.
  15. Thought I would post some photos of some 'FAILS' (literally) broken rod led to this one. broken gudgeon pin led to this while this was caused by a screw from a throttle butterfly shaft (believe it or not but I have seen it with my own eyes)
  16. one more little bit of info I will put in was that the murder was basically in your backyard ford_power
  17. Wanna bet! There was a murder case a while ago where the data taken from the onboard computer was used in court that helped convict the murderer. Don't ask how this implicated the suspect (at the time) but it was used, the technician got a plaque as thanks that is now on his office wall. Don't know how much more info I can give without getting in trouble so will have to leave it at that unfortunately.
  18. I have been putting all my money into a bloody company called Shell. Haven't seen any returns other than smoke at the moment!! Seriously though I do have some shares floating around that have fluctuated seriously opver the last few years. At one stage I had lost about 33% but have know come back into the positive with about a 10% gain and climbing every month so suppose it's not that bad. Would have been better in a term deposit though.
  19. the cops in my area have 3 favourite spots. I happen to drive through those 3 spots everyday. That said I have only been tested once in the 18months I have lived here!
  20. that's just asking for 10%.

  23. no-one was home when they went past my place and I wasn't at work either. but I did manage to mind my car. And my work was more than 6 months ago as we have had a dead car out the front since january and it's not in the street view.
