  2. Hi All, Paul will have a disc of photos I took from the Dyno day by lunch time tomorrow. Give him a call or drop in if you want to see any images... Troy
  3. Fat ride mate, I love the wheels, sits nice on the road, shame about the power loss, but you'll get it back! Enjoy...
  4. Nice ride mate, Looks real tough with the all black rims...
  5. Man that is awesome, sounds so sweet! Looks like it pulls pretty hard!
  6. Chief are good, they custom made me a cover for my AC Cobra, sight unseen...fits perfectly, but $$$$ How much do you love your car??? I thought it was worth it!
  7. Keep her de-badged! I think it looks tougher, I'm about to do the same to mine, but I am also doing a bit of custom paintwork as well, so mine will look even more different when I make her naked! Customising the Ford badges too, for something different ;-)
  8. Couldn't tell you as we did so much work, and it was part of the deal I did with Mal. It was only the rear the 2 shafts custom made, but the Uni and CV was upgraded as well as the yoke to the diff. Give Mal a call if you need a price, he'd be happy to answer any questions...
  9. I have just had some polishing done on a set of wheels, and the guy who did them swears by White Diamond, and his work was brilliant...came up real good. It was obviously a metal polish, not for a body, but he's a pro and that's what he recomended as a brand to use.
  10. Ok guys, time to update the project information... I have been at Mal Woods for the past 2 days, getting some pretty major surgery carried out on my T. We have ripped out the T5, and replaced it with one of Mals T56's 6 speeds, but upspec'd it a fair bit, with bigger input and output splines and altered 1st gear a little from standard, and a few other trick bits Mal suggested we do. We have also installed the new Option 3 Plus clutch with organic plate, alloy flywheel etc. We have also rebuilt the diff and changed ratios to 4.1's, and put in one of the Torque Tuff LSD's at the same time...while this is going on in one part of the workshop, Mal knocked up my new tailshaft for me, knowing that this T is going to have at the end over 500 RWHP, standard one aint good enough, so Mal custom fabricated one with new yolk and heavy duty cv etc, and made it out of Chrome Moly tube...tough as! The other thing he custom fabricated from an FG gearstick was a very short throw arm to go into the short throw shifter on the new T56 box, and man it's short throw, and quick changes!!! I drove it back from the workshop at Warwick late this arvo, and it feels great, I can't wait for everything to bed in and get some K's up on her, so I can start giving her a bit of curry! By the time I got home (200K trip) she was loosening up a bit more, so look out... It was so worth the trip to get this work done, great work, great bunch of guys to hang out with for 2 days and watch the whole process happen. Thanks again Mal
  11. She's gonna look great with those wheels man!
  12. Man that's rough, and ballsy... Fell bad for your heartache Bro
  13. Looks great mate, Gee I thought mine was getting low...look at yours, man I feel for you at that height...I'm struggling with 20's on 20 profiles and I'm sitting just on the guards! Still, looks real FAT!
  14. Hi all, It's been a while since that last update. With Xmas and New year and the workshop having time off we're back on track with the project car. As we all know with any project there are always hurdles to overcome, and we are again at that stage. Tunings been going great, we are now at 340 RWKW still at lowish boost, but we now have clutch slip issues! No biggie really as we I stepping up to a 6 speed manual T56 road /race box from our mate Mal, and twin plate clutch is going in at the same time. There are a few other goodies happening real soon too. Full Tein coilover setup going in with EDFC computer, HD antiroll bars etc...and some real good testing going on at at QR...Fun times, and empty pockets ahead...Full brake upgrade coming in march! It's only money...
  15. Just an update to let everyone know where we are at. We now have the Stage 3 PW kit installed, quite a bit of work involved, but very satisfying now complete. We still have to modify the turbo, and install a bigger actuator in the wastegate, as we can't control the boost properly...should be done this week hopefully. Cold air is done, as well as the battery re-locate. Still have to put in the fuel surge system, but after we sort out our boosting issue. We still can't accurately say what power figure we are at for now. More upgrades coming real soon, will let everyone know as it's happening. Check out the difference in size of the stock and aftermarket intercoolers.
  16. Yeah we are getting there, but still a way to go yet. We start fitting up the Stage 3 Kit this Friday (intercooler/plenum/cold air intake/battery re-locate/fuel surge system), so should see more gains by next week...and more boost! Hard to comment on the exhaust, as we have done a fair bit of testing, on 2 different systems. 1 stock performance upgrade system, and the other was custom made from diff back, but split into a quad system of sorts. We are going to dore more dyno work on the 2 different systems later this week, and then make a decission on which way to go forward. I'm pretty happy with what we have done so far, it's quite a different car to drive...going from 5lb to 12 lb boost, and some real good tuning... I'm getting real anxious now on where we are going to end up after this weekend
  17. Not sure of the brand name, I'll check with the shop that did the job for me and let you know...but they are the closest to the Ford tips that you can get, I believe.
  18. Hi all, As Mercury have told us, we have has an adventurous last 2 days. Yesterday, we installed a CES off the shelf performance exhaust, and got some great figures from it...ended up with 311 Rwkw @ 12 PSI boost. I have spent the day at CES today where we have removed the back section which was the twin tip out back section, and I have had the rear end custom made, still with the 3 1/2 inch system, but converted into a twin 2 1/2 inch system, but splitting the pipes out each side...yeah I know, I like the look, and it's a bit different, but a hell of a lot of work! Will be dyno'ing it again tomorrow to see if it makes any difference, we know it won't gain any, and hopefully won't lose any either
  19. Would antone out there have a set of 17" wheels off a XT6 that could be borrowed this weekend to dyno an XR6 T?? Car is being developed as a project car, and has 20" wheels on it...but we desperately need to dyno the car as a comparison with 17's... Willing to pick up and deliver back to you... Any help appreciated
  20. Ok guys, car has now had a Flash Tune and we came up with some good results for now. Still have standard injectors at the moment, but fuel pump is done...but will be replaced with the Process West surge system when we do the front mount etc. We have left it at 8psi boost until we do the exhaust system next week, and I've been told we should hopefully get 40+kw out of the exhaust, and then we will re-tune it and add injectors...and more boost! I'm getting exited
  21. Walbro Fuel pump is going in as we speak, and injectors are on standby...just in case we need them this arvo.
  22. Hey guys, Thanx for all the feedback, I appreciate any responses good or bad. Big day tomorrow, we are going to dyno "flash" tune the girl, using the CAPA Ford Flash 2 box and Advantage III software. We'll see how she goes initially on a safe tune, and then we are going to push it a little, and probably end up replacing the fuel pump and maybe injectors?? Not sure until we make a start. Will keep everyone posted on the results...
  23. Yeah that was the silvia they built a few years ago. Their latest toy is an R32 skyline, makes 675hp at the wheels on 30psi. Trent (the owner of Mercury) competed in Drift Australia this year and I travelled with the team producing their team videos which we put up on youtube. Check them out!! Just search for "Mercury Motorsport Drift" and the videos will come up. Trent ran his DRIFT car at the drags and it went 10.357@138mph.....with only 480rwhp. The boys are expecting a time into the 9's with the current power. He took me for a ride and HOLY CRAP it is fast.
  24. Yeah it something that is on the cards. Mercury Motorsport have built a lot of nissan engines, many making over 600rwhp, so when the time comes, I will get them to put some pistons and rods in and spend a bit of time on the head. I am really keen to find the limits of components as we go, eg find out first hand at what hp do I need to replace the injectors etc. That way we can document it the whole way along and it creates a bit more value in the stories for Street Ford magazine.
  25. Ok Guys, thought I would start a project thread on my BA XR6T. I bought it back in June of this year as a pretty standard thing (had 18” wheels and lowered springs). It didn't take long for me to start playing with it, so I got a bit of a stereo installed, which helps with the driving entertainment and I also found a set of 20” wheels from a mate who had them on his Typhoon. More recently though I have been looking around at doing some power upgrades with the intention of getting around the 350-400kw at the wheels area. I figure this should be pretty achieveable and I wouldn't exactly be the first person to do it, but should make driving the old taxi a bit more exciting. In my line of work, I have supplied numerous photos and articles to Street Fords, and when I was discussing my planned upgrades with the Editor of the mag, he was keen to follow the progress of the car and run regular articles in each issue tracking its development. Now, not wanting to wait until each mag comes out, I thought I would post up progress here on the site so you guys get to see it unfold as it happens and my trials and tribulations along the way. DAY 1 – Initial Power Run, Valve Springs, PWR coolant surge tank, GFB BOV I had the car on the dyno at Mercury Motorsport who are undertaking the mechanicals during my project. To my surprise, the car made 276rwhp on 5psi boost!! I thought this was a great results considering we ran the car on the dyno with my 20” wheels which would have to be costing me some horsepower. Mercury have had cars lose up to 10% with bigger wheels on, so I guess my engine is making some good grunt!! :D Obviously the most important thing to do was to get a baseline for the car before we went about doing the modifications. After the dyno, we put the car up on the hoist, gave it a thorough check over and then got to work on the valve springs. The guys at Mercury were using the Atomic valve spring tool which looks like a good bit of gear. I didn't take a real good note of the time, but I would say about 4 hours or so had the valve springs all installed and the rocker cover back on, looking like we had done nothing to it at all. :( The next few items we installed were just some tidy up parts in the engine bay that I have wanted to get done. First up was the PWR coolant overflow tank which fits real well. Last off we installed a GFB stealth fx BOV. It mounts in the standard position, and I chose black to help it blend in. We will be doing more work on the engine bay towards the end of the project with some custom painted covers and highlight parts, just to make it a bit more individual. Well all in all it was a fun day at the workshop. I am really excited about the progress and it should all happen very quickly as more and more of our parts arrive and the boys chrun through the countless hours of fitting and dyno tuning. There will be plenty of opportunities for me to thank those involved, but I gotta say I am very impressed with progress so far. NEXT STAGE – Dyno tune using a CAPA Ford Flash II at Mercury Motorsport. Then the car is booked in for a CES exhaust system with more dyno and tuning to come. Will keep you all posted!! Troy
