  1. Those ford dealers... funny people... there could be a volcano erupting under your hood and they will say "cant here anything" that's normal..
  2. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  3. My advice is advertise it and hold out. remember there one born everyday (a sucker).. I had my LS1 advertised before I bought my T. A bloody good LS1 with 280rwkw. It was a VT2.. I wanted too much money for it and was content on keeping it.. then like a bolt of thunder, some lady rings me, comes with her husband and drives it away leaving me $21800 cash.. For a 2000 VT SS with 81,000km and plenty of mods.. I had it advertised for 3-4 months, the first person who saw it bought it. the car had a whiny power steering and clutch on the way out.. My mate at the gym laughed (he works at holden) and said he cant sell them in the dealer for $14000. Mine was way above average but goes to show there is someone if your willing to wait. He appreciated the mods and paid for them...
  4. anyone want mine... Ts and mortgages and weddings dont go well together..
  5. But your buttering your bread on both sides... When you trade a car your making profit on the car sold AND on the trade in... If someone came in and didnt trade something, you would be making less. The dealers are around a whole lot longer because people are too lazy to sell it privately... The dealers really hit you for a home run when you try and trade something in... No different to Electronics boutique... trade in 10 PS3 games and we will give you a $100 game for free. then they sell each of your 10 games for $65 each, hit you for a home run.. If I wanted to sell my car, I would park it right outside a dealer which sold similar cars at considerable higher price... Nice big sticker on it and my number... Imagine if the BF2 owner that started this thread parked this car in the carpark of Peter Warren Warrick Farm and said hey im here to look at buying a new car but im selling my car privately... The Peter Warren buyers would flock to this car to grab it before its traded and then they pay $5k more for it..
  6. Read this thread, I think Ive started a war in sunny QLD. Its XR6T's VS old bearded man with muscle cars and beer froth in their beards..
  7. I started that thread just yesterday and they all pounced on it... I like to dangle out the bait and watch the ricers take the bait.. Centura run 11s hahaha
  8. Yes buts its less with a BOV than without...
  9. Hey just buy a good quality BOV and put it on... I tried the block it up trick with the chairs plugs etc. I had the hood up and asked the mrs to rev up the car pretty hard and back off all of a sudden... tuutuutuutuutuutuutuu. Some may like the sound... BUT you gotta see the vibration in the pipes. that cant be good, it would also vibrate your throttle body, pipe joins, weld points, turbo, intercooler etc etc etc. I dont think it can be good for your car.. It could fracture something, its like a jackhammer under there vibrating away. If we stuck a can of baked beans in your gut and blocked off your bum and mouth/nose would that be good for you when you need to fart? The pulses under the hood were ridiculous... I say get a good BOV and sleep easy, they dont leak boost, even if there is still some flutter, it cant be worse than blocking it off completely...
  10. If you want a rock bottom priced set of 20's. I picked up a set of Prowlers (ROH), 20X8.5 inch for $1700 brand new wheels and tyres from Bridgestone near my house... They have one set left I think. Yeah they are last years wheels and probably not to everyones taste, but they are different and stand out.. (black wheel, machined 5 spoke face) Whats the point spending up big on tyres on 20's, they aren't going to handle that well anyway, too small profile. I would never use them on the track, they are only bling wheels to roll around in on the street. You cant go nuts on the street anyway so why do you need them.. If you want for performance go 18s or 19s... If your interested in these dirt cheap 20's PM me...
  11. Id be wary of cop cars. I know they service them but years ago I bought a Late model camira VS ex chaser. It ran fine.... When I took it into a smash repairer to get a body kit installed, under the special lights they have in the booths, they could see there was two or three different areas that had been repaired and the colour matching wasnt great.. that's an ex copper for ya, take all the signage off, slap it together again, there are probably a few little hits n bumps repaired... Id pay the extra 2k or so and get a non ex copper car even if its got more km..
  12. Before I saw the light, I used to drive a Late model camira SS GEN3. I had 275's on 18X8inch wheels.. They scrubbed everywhere. So I changed the tyre to a 235.. Why do you want to go so big? for the drags? I still have the 275's at home if anyone wants to buy them for the strip... (to fit 18 inch wheels)
  13. This is nuts.. How can you buy a BF over the FG? YOu want to buy a new car but be accused the next day (the same day) of owning the old model?? Also the Typhoon and XR6T basically look the same in BA-BF, probably paying double what your XR6T is worth change over (or more).. for pretty much the same car.. At least the FG you know your driving the newest car, warranty will take care of any bugs, resale value will take care of you. To buy a BF2 now it would have to be one hell of a good price. $10-15k under equivalent FG model..
  14. Maybe FG owners (wishing to mod) will start pinching BA-BF Turbos and strapping them on their FG's. If I go to Woolies and return to my car to see some legs underneath trying to unbolt my turbo Im not gonna be happy... (Ill throw a packet of scotch fingers at them) If the checkout line is too long, BA-BF Turbo owners might just be driving home in their now N/A XR6T. BA-BF Owners beware of the FG modders..
  15. You dont wanna be putting boost in there and the XR6T leaks it out like a kid avoiding eating his peas and chucking them under the table on the floor... Its my understanding though that under boost, soft or hard setting they wont leak boost. that's the reason why I bought it. There is much commentary in other threads/forums about if you leave it too soft it will leak boost.... Is that the same as if you pull a face and the wind changes argument or is it true... In saying that is the stock BOV known to leak boost??
  16. I have the Kompact series Turbosmart Plumback BOV and it is a direct replacement. No Adaptors needed. (it is the 25mm model). The reason why I bought it, it has a bigger internal valve (still vents through a 25mm opening and I wanted more confidence that the standard BOV isnt leaking any boost. Its also made of metal and Im sure Turbosmart built it pretty well. Sort of like making sure my XR6T eats all its vegetables... BUT..... I checked the instructions and the boost side and the exhaust side of the BOV are opposite to the standard Bosch BOV. I would advise anyone who simply installs it the same way the BOSCH unit works to check which way it vents as it works in the opposite manner.. The Vaccum line fits in it aganst the boost side. (Per attached)
  17. Maybe there was a bird under the hood? After it ate all the seed it took off after you left the car idle and went inside...
  18. The guy at Turbosmart said no matter if its on soft or hard it wont leak boost. He said all it will do is close the shaft quicker or slower when blowing off dependant upon soft or hard... ie letting more or less air being vented... He said it has nothing to do with boost leaks....???? What do we think?? Also Do the stock bovs leak or it that just a Turbosmart myth...
  19. Just have a look to see if its an ex copper... Is it 60,000km of thrashed ex-copper km as opposed to 60,000km of cruising to work? There are a few cheaper BF XR Turbo's going around all ex-copper....
  20. The turbosmart guy also reckons the stock bov is worth $30 and leaks boost all over the place? Do you reckon they sit there all day and discuss BOV's? They must be fully sick..

    Holy Crap!

Did he have you at "Hello" .... What if he has been with a few fattys in the back seat? would that change your tune...
  22. Hi Pat, My brother wants to buy a XR6T or XR8 FG. Do you have them in at the moment... I might come in with him on Saturday... he wants an Auto...
  23. If you run it on soft does it leak boost? The Turbosmart guy reckons they test them on 150psi and they dont leak boost...
  24. I bought a Turbosmart Kompact series Bov for the XR6T. Its a plumb back BOV. I have a few questions... 1. Can someone explain what the diiference between soft setting VS hard setting? 2. What should I set it on running 15psi? 3. Are these BOV's installed the opposite way to the stock BOV. The boost and exhaust side are opposite?
  25. HEre is a sequence of events for mods and their effects..... Remember these cars are very big, its not easy to make them feel fast like say a WRX Stock: Very linear power delivery, gradually built a nice head of steam, no funny noises, I thought,"doesnt feel like a turbo car". Just felt like a N/A 6 but just more power, kept building power gradually, obviously moreso than the N/A. I know what you mean if you are a little underwelmed, but its still quick. I used to have a worked Expensive Daewoo 5.0V8 years ago, sounded tough but didnt feel quick in the car, my mates WRX felt explosive in the car, we ran the same time at WSID. (13.8s) Edit: 236rwkw @8 or 10psi??, start feeling that turbo shove when it comes on boost, you start thinking, this is pretty quick car. Still gradual but can definately notice when it comes on boost. Starts with the chatter noise etc... Excellent result for the money you spend.. Edit: Some juicy mods and 276rwkw @ 13psi. Now we are cookin, when its on boost it feels seriously very quick, pins you in the seat. Traction control gets a real workout, gets angry on boost. definately not a linear power delivery now, its like when the boost comes on Dr Jerkyl and Mr Hyde.. Edit: more mods 322rwkw @15psi, awesome power, feels fantastic coming on boost, quick car now. Cant tip toe past like a N/A 6. It spools up hard, can hear it winding up, loud chatter sound. Off boost it still feels like a stocker, quiet and civilised.. Off the line gotta build boost to take off hard or else pretty slow takeoff if just tramping the pedal.. Feels just a bit more muscular than the 276rwkw state of tune. I reckon you could give a WRX a head start and wind him in pretty quick.. Go and get a custom tune if nothing else. The car will radically transform. My car now feels like that "nothing special car" off boost and gets very angry when it comes on boost. Pins you in the seat.
