  1. excellent timing... I have already given my mrs the rock so my credit is long gone there. problem is, after marriage, even if I do get a Fg Xr6T how do you slip out the extra few thousand you need for the intercooler, tune etc.. Ill be having bread and water for lunch everyday and when I get home say, geez honey food has gone up alot... Everyone spends $50 a day on lunch where I work.. (theres my intercooler slush fund).. Gotta do it now before marriage!!! Book me tuner, ill pre-pay...I dont even have my car yet..
  2. Well I had better not get these silly economic arguments into my head for too long.. I get married in 3 months... If I went out today and bought a FG XR6T the Mrs would be ok about it as she is spending a packet on the wedding, but after marriage, Im hoping she dont tighten the screws... Its funny how they forget real quick all the money they spend.. When I come to my senses it might be too late. Maybe I should just run out and grab one whilst the wedding spending bonanza continues (before my window of opportunity closes up...)
  3. I used to own a BA XR6T, I didnt drive it everyday, kept it in the garage and had another car as a run about. My XR6T is sold now and Im selling my runnabout car as well. All to buy one car to use.. (dont wanna pay double insurance, double rego etc) Im thinking about FG XR6T but as a daily driver... Now Fuel prices arn't exactly great and neither is the resale on these XR6T's.. Someone paid $52k for a XR6T with Leather and premium sound not so long ago. Ford smile (or is it a brief smirk) when you sign up for a new car but when it comes to trade they really wind up and lay one on your chin.. One bitten... Dont know if Ill let them insult me again.. But im concerned with a daily driver...FG XR6T... not sure, who drives one everyday and thinks its a sensible car to drive everyday.. My Xr6T used to run for the garage when it looked like raining, it was never dirty, never parked anywhere... Its a different view when using it as a daily driver.. work stuff all over the car, parked at the cinema, in the rain, more km etc etc Who is driving their XR6T's everyday? what are your concerns?
  4. See your correct in what you say... Who wants to pay $20-22k for a rough car? not me.. But if you didnt actually see how rough they are, you would be content in concluding that you could get a BF for $20-22k and that most BA's are overpriced. I would rather pay $5,000 too much for a mint condition car than get a car $5,000 under price and it be rough.
  5. I recently sold my T. An 04 BA 4 speed auto with 45,000km and leather, premium. Mint condition car. This car had plenty of enhancements so the price is not really representative of a true value of these cars if standard. Fuel prices scares people, but I think its the police killing the resale values, letting BF or BF2 ex copper XRs into the market with 40,000km for a little over $20k. How many people said to me, (I can get a BF for $22k) But they are severely beaten up cars the ex coppers. But nevertheless that's what your competiting against. They are killing the second hand market. Plus there are plenty of brand new cars in the $20-30K bracket. People want NEW, even though in 2 years time the XR will be worth more than their NEW car. Look at similar type performance cars, people are asking $24k for a 02 WRX with 90,000km. Cost $39990 brand new. You could get a 03 XR6T with 70,000km for under $20k easy. This car was about $7k more brand new, better car, most likely in better condition but less??
  6. Its weird... On idle, the pressure sits up very high, almost at the red zone, then give it a full boot and it actually comes down a notch... These are factory gages... Maybe an engine oil flush is on the cards and new oil?
  7. Hi, Question 1, why dont Xr6 Turbos have oil pressure gauges from standard? My old EL V8 has one? I recently sold mine but was never in tune as to its oil pressure. Question 2, my 96 EL 5.0 V8 does have an oil pressure gage, shows the oil pressure to be upwards of three quarters, heading towards the red area. Now I checked the engine oil and its only a touch above full so I dont think this would make the pressure go up so much. On Idle the pressure is higher, but when giving it a bootful, the oil pressure reduces about a notch. Is high oil pressure a problem? Do the older cars have dodgy gauges that dont show the proper oil pressure? The oil is only about 5000km old and I used 10-40 last time, a quality oil. When the experts offer some advice?
  8. As per a previous post, I bought an ex chaser years ago and it was in immaculate condition.. These days they seem to be getting worse? I dont theink the engine and gearbox will be too worried at their style of driving but its the little things... Im an immaculate man myself, im sure many on here are as well. I dont care about the price. In saying that Id say if you could find a ex copper that was somehow cared for (a miracle) it would be excellent buying.
  9. Dont upset the hulk!!! Ill go down to centrelink and toughen up the docks. Get rid of these no good bums leaching off us hard workin people. They should have me as prime minister, id teach people how the world works.
  10. Your right... I am disgusted. How could you ever ever say that its required for Police use. Must be a marketing thing for Lambo, but if it was from taxpayer funds just un-digestable. We need good financial stewards in this world not monkeys writing cheques. The marked Typhoons above are all in the same shot.. Ive never seen one marked in NSW. they must be attention seekers in QLD
  11. They are ridiculous loud those pumps. I went to a funeral a few weeks back and there was a whole series of cars driving slowly. When we all parked, someone that was about 3 cars in front of me said what the F**k is that in your car buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz buzzzzzz buzzzz buzzz. My car used to buzz on a cold startup in the middle of winter so I dont think that cold/hot fuel has anything to do with the noise. My Mrs after that day would not get in that car again, too noisy for her. I had to sell it, no bull. Car is sold as she refused to use it or drive it. Car was mint condition, beautiful car and I had to sell it. Doesnt matter where that pump is mounted, people would hear it a block away and there is nowhere in that car you can hide from it. Im not doubting the effectiveness of the pump but the noise is almost untolerable. It is very intrusive, not too bad for lovers of XR6T but anyone else, its way way way over the top. Next XR (FG) no 044 is going on that.
  12. Can someone post a picture of a typhoon which is a Police marked car? Those who argue with me are obviously coppers or people who bought an ex-cop car with an interior that resembles a dogs breakfast.. Look I dont want to stir anything or anyone up, so I will end my contribution here. Doesnt mean that I dont have any valid points. Apply some common sense please. Sorry If I offended anyone
  13. Its an attention grabber? then why are the typhoon police cars all unmarked cars? attention grabber???? And How can it be an icebreaker? the copper pulls someone over for speeding (after hiding behind a rock) and says im booking you, do you expect the driver to say "nice typhoon" smile and say now "book me". ICEBREAKER? Of course its overkill. a Typhoon, a $60,000 car for Police use? What does a Typhoon do that is required for the Police duties that a XR6T cannot. The FPV starter button? If they can get the typhoon cheap then im sure they also get the XR6T cheap as well or SS or whatever. There is still $10k-$15k wastage per car. For every 10 typhoons they could have grabbed 13 times XR6T's. Dont know who approved that business case. Lets be real what is needed is the minimum spec performance car that will have adequate handling, speed and space to store their things. Is FPV Typhoon the minimum spec car for those duties? What did they do in 1980 when the FPV Typhoon wasnt available (lucky if they did get air cond back then)
  14. Are you guys serious? A little lighthearted humour.. As if I would think that they shouldnt have air cond. Do FGs or VE's even come without air cond? I dont think so. I cant beleive that is what you focus your reply on. The point im trying to make is a Typhoon is a bit overkill for cop use..
  15. I hope that's true... The police shouldnt be driving around in typhoons as they are now, that's where our tax dollar is going? Even a XR6T is overkill, give them a Falcon XT with sports suspension and that's it. I say the police shouldnt even get air cond. I have seen a few ex chasers and I just think how in one year and 40,000km could you damage a car like that. Do they tear the seats when they are driving around? hey Tim do you mind just tearing the fabric on the back of my seat whilst I run in and grab this drug dealer? There is a few dealers in sydney that sell only police cars, half of them they fit leather interior in it (and try and charge out for it). Imagine how bad the interior would have been to have to re-upholster the seats?
  16. Years ago, I bought a VS Late model camira ex chaser 5.0 V8. It was in mint condition but the BF2 my mate bought was just horrible. they are a bit hit n miss. But I think of the coppers of late dont care about the cars as much...
  17. Whats the general rule of thumb?? 1 Police km = 100 privately owned km?
  18. A mate of mine bought a ex-copper 2006 BF Mk2 XR6T with 59,000km for $18,000. He was going to buy my BA (which is now sold) but he thought it was too expensive. He brought it around on Saturday. Far out, its an ex copper, the paintwork is just horrible. Maybe im too picky but im sure everyone on this forum is about quality and mint condition cars. The ex-copper has Scratches from pillar to post, here and there on the body, front bar has marks all over it, rear spoiler has marks on it, front seat is frayed from big arse coppers getting in and out of it, dash is scratched. roof is a mess. The drivers door handle hardly works. I took it for a drive, it went well in a straight line but there was some funny noises in the front suspension, (those coppers must have hit some medium strips at pace.) He thinks he got a great deal and tried to say "see yours was too dear in price." But its like comparing apples with oranges. Thoses coppers must really thrash those cars, my neighbour has a old magna 92 model with 250,000km in better condition that that ex copper XR6T. No point paying $18k for a lump of crap, id rather buy my BA for even $35k before I bought that car. shocking condition
  19. I took one for a spin. 6 speed manual. Down low it was more than willing to spin up the tyres pretty easily. Just love the bulge on the bonnet. In my opinion feels no quicker than my old SS GEN3 a few years back. It has nice power. Would I buy one? I reckon a BF2 XR8 wouldnt be too much different and at around half the price these days, gotta question the value. I then took out a XR6T FG. Initially when rolling around the car park, it didnt feel as tough as the XR8 but on the open road, it would absolutely bury the XR8 in a straight line. I went back to the dealer, jumped out of the XR6T and said to him, with this car, how the hell are you going to sell an XR8. Anyone who drives them back to back wont be buying the XR8
  20. I know how it feels.. 17 year old at the lights in the XR6T and an SS rolls up.. Its almost criminal not to embarrass him but its also criminal to race him as other innocent people are using our roads as well and dont deserve to be rammed into. Let him go, its the lesser of the two evils. As a 17 year old, to say dont race the SS/WRx etc would be like sticking a hot topless girl in front of any of us and say "dont look". My advice would be leave it stock, take the turbo badge off it, stick some nice wheels on it and just cruise. You know you will munch the SS, why waste your petrol proving what you already know. Actually its probably better to modify it to over 300rwkw so when the boost comes on it just wheels spins. that's what I did with my car so now there is no point racing someone on the street as you know you will just wheelspin.
  21. I used to have an edited SS GEN3 and I compared it to a stock Typhoon. I thought the SS was better up top down low and everywhere else. I just dont beleive it when they say all the torque is there from 1900rpm, more like 3000rpm. But my modified T makes the Gen3 feel slow in comparison
  22. I walked in the door last night and said to the Mrs Ive got a surprise for you. I pulled out a Citric Acid set of bra and undies for her. Its matches my car I said in amazement.. She didnt think that me buying this colour underwear was any great revelation. she looked at me and said take it back, dont like it. I was like wHAT!!! I was gonna paint my whole garage citric acid, how would she like that?
  23. In magazines people always "upnote their horsepower" I had a mate who had his VL Calais turbo in a magazine. I know it made 207rwkw but he quoted them as having 270rwkw.. whos gonna know?? But on the flip side... dont people with Citric Acid XR6 Turbos automatically get an extra 100hp on the dyno?
  24. Hi Trish, Im in sydney, just west of sydney Thanks for the replies.. At the end of the day.. Ill get what the market will pay for it. Whatever its worth..
  25. I was driving my T in a 40 zone at 40km/h and pulled over to park.. As I pulled over some foul mouthed woman started beeping and screaming at me.. She floored her Astra as she drove by (in a 40 zone) I ought to wash her mouth out with soap.. What else would you do to her mouth?
