Hi everyone , Looking to get the centre muffler removed on my BF T ute tommorrow. Does this affect the tune on a standard car, would it need a custom tune. Also one of the reason im doing this is to get some more ground clearance, do you get much by remove the centre muffler. It has SL springs in it

Trying to find if anyone had the same problem as me, and found this topic. I've got a knocking noise seems to be coming from the RHF. The only way I could describe it would be is if someone had stuck a peg in your spokes. only makes the noise when you are moving would this indicate wheel bearing

Can someone tell me , which way the rubber joiner is meant to go on the pipe off the turbo up to the crossover There is a triangle on the part. Is this towards the engine or away. Also on the plastic pipe, on the engine side is this meant to be perfectly round , mine has a small section which is a bit flat. Also to get some knowledge, what is this pipe used for, is it pressurised air from the turbo to the engine. Or freash air for the turbo , from the air filter. Thanks Andrew

Well have finally found, where the noise was coming from, was checking under the bonnet toady and the rubber joiner from the turbo to crossover has a tear along the bottom edge with the pipe just sitting there. Has been in to Ford that many times complaining about this, and they keep saying that all connections where checked Must off had a small hole , and has finally let go. been to all auto shops to find a silicon replacement, but no luck. does anyone have a aftermarket replacement p/n they have used? have heard stories on here, about cars which where losing boost, and when fixed the computer is still suppling more boost to compensate for the leak. and then causing trouble by boosting the engine more then it should. How long does it take the computer to re-adjust. thanks

yer I agree, would'nt worry about getting an extended warranty I have it on my car, luckily it was included in the sale and I didn't have to pay for it. Every time some thing breaks or is faulty , suprisingly it is not included in the warranty and I have to pay. So its pretty worthless.

Thanks Gypo, very helpful replys. The spooling noise I refer to is the rushing air/ whistle when it comes on boost which has been getting louder, and lifting off the throttle on fast gear changes you get the ''chuuu'' or sneeze common for a turbo car. car is definately going better by seat of the pants feel. Funny you mention the panel filter, the spooling noise has been getting gradually louder over time but I never had the " chuuu" 2 weeks back, it had a ford serive and they replaced the factory filter panel and this is about when the " chuuu" started. Will have to get a boost guage hooked up as mentioned to see properly. Is there a way I could check the waste gate myself.

Well, had a look at the back of the engine couldn't see any hoses lose, haven't got a boost guage hooked up to be able to see what boost is doing. Had it Ford service and they still say all is o.k, but they really don't seem to like investigating causes to issues unless the computer tells them there is a problem. Could a car that is standard start making more boost ? Am getting the nice tutu noise from the blow off on throttle lift off, could this indicate that the blow off is now venting to atmosphere ? The car only has 50000 on it so don't know the turbo would be on the way out? Once again I do like the noise , just trying to investigate why there now appeared.

Thanks fella's Yer definately not complaining about the noise its now making, just wasn't sure if it was now making more boost then it should and not being tuned may be causing damaged. The car is definately going harder, but this may be the good noises making it seem like it is. don't get me wrong I do like it. just don't want to be hurting it . Will look at the nipple when I get home

Hope someone can tell me whats going on Have a BF XR6T manual ute, factory standard. For the past month or so I have been clearly able to hear the turbo spooling, which has been getting louder. could not before was factory quite. Have check all the hoses and there all on tight, also had a service at ford and they said they check all the hoses and there o.k. Was told they checked against other's in the yard and sounds within limits, which I find hard to believe. Now starting this week , I can clearly hear the blow off valve like an aftermarket one on gear changes or when backing off. sounds for all the world likes its had a tune, but I know it has'nt. Is there a reason a standard car would start making more boost? While I like the sounds its now making, id like to know why its now making them when before it was quite as. Does seem to be going better now, which I had put down to the cold weather. Has anyone else had a standard Xrt, suddenly become vocal.

Yer, there's no problem once it's idling, once or twice it has jumped up and down and stalled at the lights Took it in to ford, no error code on the computer so it must be in my head Have noticed when your reving it out, that it seems to give a feeling of the engine being restricted But not sure if this is just getting use to the car. Some day's you can really feel it came on boost and others you can't and it feels slow

My car is starting to develop a problem in starting, when you turn the key it is similar to having a flat battery where the engine will turn slowly 2 or 3 revolutions then fire and run fine A couple of times the engine has fired, ran ruff backfired and stalled Have done the TPS , throttle to the floor and try to start and also changed the battery, with no luck. Also doesn't seem to have the same get up and go. Has anyone else had this problem, if so what was the cause. Car only has 40,000k's BF turbo man

I had my car damaged at work, a truck drove past and its barn door swung open denting the back of the car. The damage was not that great, only a couple of dents and scrap's, smash repairer said it would take a week top's. 3 weeks later I was still ringing to see where my car was. While it was in there, I decided to get the front bumper resprayed due to driveway scrap's as its lowered. When it was finally ready went to pick it up my freashly painted bumper was all scrapped underneath, said that this could not be helped as it was lowered, still wanted to charge me full price for the job. The finish on the repaired panel was dodgy as, with run's everywhere and there was still a gauge out of the harder cover just painted over. knocked it back 3 times, as it was not acceptable work. When I dropped it off, reset the trip computer. on picking it up the figure's where Engine running time 5 hours Average fuel 99.9 ltr/100 Average speed 2kmh With half of the full tank of petrol gone. When I questioned them on this, they denide driving it. Showed them the recipt for the full tank of petrol the moring it happened. either way it had a good thrashing, probably from cold too. Don't think they realised that you need to hold the button for 2 beeps to reset, so only did the avaerage speed And to top it off they stole my 2 new fishing rods that where in the back. Apparantly they where never there, which is funny because one of the workers had commented on them. The painful thing with most insurance work is that you have to take it to there approved repairer and not one that you know will do a good job and respect your car.

I travel the M5 everyday to and from work, and have been getting increasingly frustrated by this problem. Most afternoons it is quicker to be in the left lane where you can pass 10 cars in the right lane who are doing 90kmh with no traffic in front of the lead car , and im only doing the speed limit. I don't have a problem with people doing whatever speed there comfortable with, but do it in the left lane. And most of the people that sit in the right lane doing 10 to 20kmh below the speed limit are P platters shouldn't they be more up to date on the keep left unless overtaking, that and the fact the by law they are unable to go above 80 or 90. Another pet hate for those that known the M5 tunnel, is why do we need to slow to a stop on the hills out of the tunnel, there's no traffic light we all have to stop for. Its a hill use the accelarator drive up

Ha, Ive had the problem a lot of us have had lately, with the TPS where car idled very ruff at the lights then staled. TPS lite up on the dash. Took it back to the dealer, reflashed it problem went away for a month or 2. The other night it did it again, though a lot worse, backfired then stalled. No light on dash Reset the TPS by holding foot down and cranking the ignition, which has stopped the stalling. But the car just doesn't feel as strong as it did before all this drama. Had the bonnet up last with it idling and noticed that there was a ticking noise coming from the throttle body valve. Is this normal, or does it highlight a problem? Also what is the normal operating temp of the engine, noticed mine has been running at half guage lately. Sydney temperature this week outside 20 to 23 deg Car is stock thanks

Well I'm always so careful with my car, parking well away from others in shopping centres and walking a mile so I won't get any scratches or doors openning on it. to date no scratches. Then last night my worst fears came true, and it was all my own doing. Once again parked a mile, in a big spot next to a garden bed so no one could get me. Came back to car sweet no one next to me, reversed out and crunch. Lowered car, larger then normal guttering equals damaged front bumper with a big scratch and lots of chipped paint. All my effort gone to waste. Does anyone have an idea of the cost to get a front bumper resprayed? in Sydney Any good shops in the Milperra area. Has anyone else gone to such lengths so there car won't get damaged, and then done something stupid themself's and hurt there pride and joy themself.

Senna, Do you know how this will effect existing car loans with G.E ? I did hear they where leaving and didn't think it would have any impact on me, but as I'm 5 months into a new loan I'm wondering if it will.

I'm not sure, just assumed being part of the workings of the car and not a general maintenance item that it would be covered by warranty. Thou true if they don't find anything even thou a code appeared, I guess you have to pay them to have a look. How does warranty work, say your gearbox went. Do you pay for the serviceman doing the work, and ford picks up the cost of the gearbox. Or does warranty cover everything and you have no out of pocket expences? Unsure never really used it. going away for the wkend just don't want there being any drama's, and stuck far from home. So I just have them look at it, make sure there is nothing going on. I guess after reading some of the issues others have had, I will get told the car is working correctly and it was in my head

Ha guys, driving to work this morning, had a bit of a problem with the car. Rolling to a set of traffic lights the car started running ruf as, and the ETC light came on in the dash. rolled to the side of the road and turned the car off, to read the manual to see what it meant. Throttle Fault Sensor, re-started the car and all is good and drove fine. Have the car booked in tommorrow to be looked at. has anyone else had this problem, what was the curse. Had noticed that the car for the last couple of days didn't have quite the same performance
-
Ah Chris Saw your beast on the M5 yesterday arvo, looks the goods. Though couldn't get beside you to have a proper look. Have you tuned it yet, sounded awesome when you booted it on the off ramp.

Yer, I did have that conversation with them when they told me how much it was for just the standard muffler, I said that I would just go to the muffler shop and get aftermarket. I was told if I did put a aftermarket cat back system on it would void my warranty on drivetrain as it would chance the flow of the engine. But if I put the John Bowe system on, it would not effect the drivetrian warranty at all. As the car has an extend warranty of 175000kms I was hoping to keep this at the time being. just wondering what if any gain in performance his system would give, with the John Bowe throttle body, CAI and exhuast, while keeping full factory warranty. Thanks

Ha guy's Had my car in for its 30"k service yesterday, and when they put it on the hoist to inspect I was told that there was some impact damage on the rear muffler and at some stage it will need to be replaced. They said that they are a dealership which carries the John Bowe Performance range, and they could replace the exhaust cat back with his performance one. With this exhaust carrying there full warranty. Has anyone got this on there car or heard of it? I asked if this increases the performance, to which the answer was yes, I asked if the ecu was tuned for the new exhaust and it isnt. I thought it was inpossible to put an exhaust on these cars and gain performance without an edit. Car is stock standard. Also after the service on the drive home, I noticed the performance has lost some of its edge, and it is using less petrol. Has anyone else had this after a service, maybe it was flashed with an update from the factory Thanks

Ha guys I have a XR6T ute BF 6 sp man, with only 25000km's on it. This is the first car I have had with factory warranty on it, and I am trying to work out if I should lose this for more power. I have had this car for about 3 months and the problem I have is that it just feels slow now. However I know this isn't the case when I drive my girlfriends Echo, or look in the rear view mirror. I have been having that mod vs warranty issue that some of us have. I understand the mindset of "play and pay" the issue isnt trying to get around ford warranty, I understand this is gone once you edit. I just want to try and look at all the factor's before I do anything. I have been looking at getting the phase 1 kit fitted ( injectors, customer tune ) estimate 310kw at the engine, for $ 2400. What I want to know is with this mild power up, will there be issue with breakages. have you guys had any issue with the engine, or drive train. I understand with a generic edit, there has been engines blow, but has there been any on custom tunes. or any other problems. Guys with injectors and custom tunes how many k's have you racked up. Also is $2400 a good price, and what else need to be considered with this power up, clutch or is this o.k at this level. Thanks for your time
