Still rekon it looks dodgy... roadbike engines dont make 1200 horsepower... Would you pay 2 mill for a roadbike engine and a bunch of fibreglass? Be a bit rough if you collected someone on the road too... dont think it would stand up real well against a truck...

Get a stage 1 kit from RDP as I said above and your clutch will be fine, and you should sort an R8 without too much drama. Then save up for the rest of the bits (including a clutch). In the scheme of things, to get more bang out of the stage 1 tune with some injectors you are just going to run more boost. This is not necessarily a good thing for your engine. Once you do the cooler and whatnot you will make better power on less boost which should be better for your engine... just some food for thought

Hmm, mine already had a 2nd CAI and K&n filter when I took it in. Blokes at RDP said it was up on standard to 301hp or something at the tires (which in hindsight sounds like a lot of increase for a snorkel and a filter...). May have been mistaken there but pretty sure that's what they said. Whatever it was, I was bloody happy with the result

Mate I had mine tuned at RDP a few weeks back. Stage 1 from them is just a filter, CAI snorkel and a tune (If you want to save cash you can try and pick up your own tuner box off the forum, can usually get them for around $500). Tune was excellent, gave me 330hp at the tyres, which is about 30hp over standard. Power is smooth and a pleasure to drive. Personally, if you want some big power, I would go with your stage 1 tune for the time being, then collect up the bits you need for another round later on. Nominally: - Cooler (and pipework if you can, UBP, crossover etc or a full kit) - Injectors - High flow cat - Fuel pump - Clutch if you got a manual Depending on if you have a BF or a BA that should see you through to well over 300RWKW without too much hassel. Hope that helps

How in the hell do you get 750hp from a 1300cc motorbike engine? Jesus, even the new 1000cc R1 is only punching out around 180hp (dont quote me on that figure for the record..) Sounds a bit bogus... Unless there's more to it.

hahahaaa. Had to be done I suppose

Mate, I was in the same position as you. I have had my BFMK2 november build for about 2 months now and couldnt be happier. My reasoning was along the same lines your going on: - Great price! Got mine for about $34,000 on the road with leather interior and all the options! - Last build of the BF, therefor in my opinion the best. All the bugs have been ironed out, everything is refined. You are buying the most updated model, which I feel is a good thing - Lots of updated/aftermarket parts and upgrades available for the MK2, LOADS of information on technical stuff, LOADS of people (such as this forum) with a wealth of knowlege on this vehicle. You will be waiting a while for the same with the orion. The way I look at it, by the time they have sorted out the bugs that will be present in the orion, say 3 years from release, I will be done with my lease on my current car and ready to upgrade Hope this helps mate, and good luck! I love my T

If someone just wants the dump pipe, im in for just a cat, so you can put me down for that if it works.

You mean just to put mr mouth up there in his place? I rekon it would be worth the money These responses give me something to work with. Will contact the blokes for the wog twin plate next week and see how I go. I rekon I'll aim for the 350 first (which I should be able to get with just the cat according to my tuner) and I'll do a full system later on when I inevitably chase more power... Man I'm gonna be poor...

Nothin like beating on teenagers hey lads. 265 is my best. Woulda hurt though :D
-
BAH! BFMK2 (with good bottom end UNLIKE your lemon) + rapid systems + injectors + custom tune = more than greenie. Go annoy someone else mr BA bottom end.... On more mundane matters the woggy organic twin plate sounds interesting... where can I get more info on this? anyone else had success? How well priced we talkin?

Thanks guys for the feedback! Yeah it seems like Mal Wood has a well deserved reputation here, his gear is pretty proven! Just wasn't sure if there was other options I should check out as well.

Hey all, Yes another clutch topic. I have had a look around but havent really found a definative answer... I'm in the process of obtaining parts for the next round of mods, should see me with a healthy 330-350RWKW or so. I am obviously going to need a new clutch. Would like something to maintain the stock feel, so nothing too heavy. Blueboost suggested a twin plate of some description. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm aware the mal wood option 3 would probably hold this power, but is a little heavier. Any input appreciated :D Dont want to spend a zillion dollars either :S
-
Really?? I thought they could just access the tunes from the tuner box with their gear, like normal? That would be a pain though :S Pay another 800 bucks for 3 tunes again... that would hurt... Might ahve to give them a call.

I've heard your attracted to worse things than guard rails Tab...

I have a similar problem to you Doolz, about to go in for the next round of mods, expecting 300+RWKW on standard clutch.. I expect clutch will slip on max power. Most clutches are starting to go at about 270RWKW from what I have heard. My plan at this stage is to get it all tuned and sorted then get a Mal Wood option 3 when I have the cash. Until that point, just dont bury the boot and go max throttle in anything above 3rd gear and it should hold up alright as long as you dont abuse it... same with anything, its how you drive it I guess. But you will be losing a bit of power on the dyno due to clutch slip at that power level I would guess..
-
True. But i think he was talking about the lag, not overall power... Dunno, either looks sweet to me... But i dont really know much about dump pipes. I always thought bigger = better...
-
Rightio if they do a 3.5 you can put me down for one of those instead. :)
-
Lol! Yeah Greenie, saw yours and thought What the hey! Cant have you hoggin all the fun Yeah, Rap1d talked me into it I dunno though, with the distnace and all, there is some hills too...staying off boost might be harder than I think... but yeah should be alright. Goodnight clutch though afterwards haha!
-
Yeah sounds fair to me. Car isnt going to RDP unfortauntely though, they are about 9 hrs away. Gona have to go up to CPV performance in Mackay, but I'll give them a dingaling and see what they rekon. Cheers for the feedback. I was just a bit worried about the dump because the increased flow can apparently put too much load on the stock wastegate actuator... hmmm.
-
BLIMEY that was quick mate Hmm, well I hadnt planned to do the injectors, just that I could get a muffler shop here in town to do all the exhaust stuff, and I could do the cooler myself... Thanks for the opinion though. I guess if I stayed off boost I would probably be alright. Maybe.
-
Hey all, just after a bit of an opinion! I am looking at the next round of mods. Looks like its gonna be a cooler, injectors, high flow cat and dump pipe. So far I have a custom tune from RDP, cold air induction and a filter. Putting out around 330HP at the boots. Problem is I am going to have to drive my car a bit of a way for my next tune. Do you think I can get away with getting the dump pipe and hi-flow cat installed down here or will it overboost like a mofo? I was thinking of installing the cooler kit myself (rap1d systems kit) and limping it to the tuner (about 3.5hrs away)... Opinions please?? Not sure what to do as I dont want to have to pay the tuner to install the cooler kit, exhaust, cat blah blah blah as well as the injectors... could be expensive!
-
As i said, any option to get just the cat? What is the benefit of the dump over the standard BFMK2 one...
-
I would be keen on the cat for the group buy. Is there any way to get just the cat for a good group buy price or do you have to get both? How much better is the dump than the standard BFMK2 dump? I think cats are a good way to go though, lots of people needin them...
