    Diff Bushes

umm when I was living in melbourne I got a quote for herror motorsport of $450-$500 to replace the diff bush, based on a forum member who said they had it done there for $400.. and on top of that they said they replace some other things while they are there.. cant remember who I spoke to there though.. was 6 months ago though dunno if its more now.,
  2. ive got the same problem. same setup, little bit less power. would this cause a loss in power? guess I'll replace the rear muffler when I replace the cat...

    Diff Bushes

I think I have the same problem. over bumps the car rattles from underneath.. but a friend of mine had the same problem and it turned out to be just the handbrake cable loose and hitting against something. in mine I lifted the handbrake slowly while driving over a bumpy road and the noise virtually stopped, also my handbrake is so loose that on a hill it doesnt work... when my car got impounded they couldnt keep it on the tow truck because the handbrake wouldnt hold it.. lol... all im saying is check the handbrake before spending $500 on diff bush replacement..
  4. yeah I read a post about Tassie fuel being mixed differently so its probably not helping, luckily I am right in the city so havent really had a chance to give it to it too much until last night when I was running late for a flight, I am glad that there is a tuner in Tas now using the flash tuners so I can get him to look at it......
  5. yeah thanks mate... I just read that post... I havent had access to the net in about a week... so I missed that post... hopefully see you down there... has anyone had this same problem before??? I really like to know roughly what im facing before I get into it...
  6. ahhh you might have just solved 2 of my problems... I am down in Tassie now... so you Tassie guys keep an eye out for a blueprint T with Vic plates EXR6T.... I work right in the city and im living in Sandy Bay... I am gonna call howells automotive tomorrow and speak to them. I need to get my T looked at because I am having a few problems with my T since I got down there and it could be to do with the fuel being mixed differently like you said.... I feel a bit more at ease now.. cheers... see you guys around
  7. hey guys... few problems with my T..... when I put my foot down in 3rd and 4th I get the usual kick and boost kicks in, but while its boosting there is a strange noise coming from what seems like underneath the car. The noise sounds like an electrical sort of sparking/surging but really loud and only when boost comes on hard. you cant really notice it in 1st or 2nd, but seems more common when its under load on boost in 3rd and 4th. its a hard noise to describe, its not a constant noise like a hissing or anything hence why I use the word surging. the car is idling rough sometimes, and is starting REALLY rough when you turn the key, it struggles to start sometimes or chugs and revs really low as soon as you start it. NOT GOOD!! I have already replaced the valve springs, and most of the coil packs, the car is tuned by HP-F. and it seems to be getting worse. the car was serviced only 2000 ks ago. my biggest problem is can't just take it to my tuner, because I have now moved to Tassie, and from what I have heard there are NO good tuners in Tassie. and none that even use the CAPA flash tuner. so any help you guys could give me would be great.. thanks in advance
  8. does this make sense to anyone? I can't quite work it out, but if there is any truth behind it I would be interested in what it actually means.
  9. this is really interesting... what are the costs involved of getting this sort of set up smoke'em?? also excuse my ignorance but which type of fuel is more reliable and better for the engine?? or are they pretty much the same thing?? also.... does anyone know how much power a standard LPG system could handle?
  10. decision made.... selling the T.... too expensive to run, and not a good car to boot around the city in when I move to Tassie, im gonna miss it but I get a company car in about 12 months, so better to sell now before fuel is $25 per litre and anything over 4 cylinders is a write off IMO. on that note. $110 to fill up @ $1.81 per litre for BP98 in Nunnawadding yesterday!!!
  11. Thanks for the advice Craiginmackay. I will wait and see how I go with financials so ill take your advice, my GF is studying ATM so she will probably just accept any job and then go from there. I am moving for advancement in a company so I kind of have to do it if I want a career with the company any time soon. I am probably doing it a bit easy at the moment, so I might need to learn to budget a bit, it will probably do me some good I think being on a budget for a little while.. but ive tried driving my T softer to get better fuel economy, so for the week that I drove softer I improved my fuel economy by about 2-3lts per 100km. but I must say it was the most boring time ive spent in a car in 6 months, so if im gonna keep my T I may aswell drive it normally. anyway, thanks again for the advice, I got a flight at 6.30am so im gonna go to bed.. cheers everyone else for talkin me out of selling my T
  12. LMAO BUNGALOW!!!!! f*ck!!! maybe I should just shut my mouth and stop my whinging, if im getting a place like those two for $350 then I think I should just be happy with what ive got (being my T). and hope to god that I get one of the places I have applied for so I dont have to live in a "Bungalow" lol P.S HANRA YOUR UTE IS HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. http://www.charlottepeterswald.com.au/view...dy_bay_12960982 this is option 2.... $340 a week, not quite as nice.... but still good.
  14. yeah its a nice place, but maybe a bit out of my price range if im spending $150+ a week on petrol like I am now. not to mention the servicing every 5000 k's and the more expensive insurance etc. hence why I was thinking of selling my T. I might just leave it for now, and if I get into trouble then I'll sell my T. P.S wish me luck in getting that place.
  15. http://www.charlottepeterswald.com.au/view...dy_bay_12960492 that's the house im HOPING to get in Tassie, but I think I might have to go for something a bit cheaper and closer to the city until I work out how much my GF will be earning p/w.
  16. lol.... maybe.... im just starting to think that the T's fuel usage for an everyday car is a bit much, which again brings back to the point of having it for the weekend.... hrmmmzzzz I would save about $50 per week on fuel by getting a sh*t box.... really doesnt sound worth it when I put it like that... maybe catchin a bus to work is the best option
  17. ive considered this.... a good idea.... but also having the extra $$$ from selling the T for 18-20k and buying a sh*t box for 8-10k would really help with this move... I think its probably part of the reason im thinking of selling the T cause im worried about money moving down there. I would love to keep the T for the weekends... or for everyday for that matter. but I just dunno if I can afford it.. :( if my GF gets a decent job fairly quickly I might be able to keep it.. I suppose its just that fear of the unkown that im worried about
  18. what about a toyota MR2? Edit: Nevermind, they get about 400-450 per tank 55ltrs so its not that great economy
  19. what abour toyota camry? the v6? is the fuel economy any good on that? or should I really look for a 4cyl?
  20. 9k no???
  21. hmmm dont like the look of the corolas I still think some of the 318is look okay.. any other suggestions? what about Mazda? have they ever made anything good that's not rotary?
  22. LoL SCRIBR, your YARIS isnt either of those, its exempt from both those categories.... LoL @ YPURV4 - I think you just proved to me that the 318is is a girly car (your fiancee is selling it).. but that does sound tough though.. I just like some of the 318is, most are sh*t, some I think look hot. well I guess I'll have a look at some carolas then... your right RACEFPV that it is a povo BMW, but that's kinda the point, I only have to drive it for 12 months before I get a company car. Senna your probably right about it being unreliable... and ive heard they can have a fair few problems which can be $$$$$$$$expensive$$$$$$$$$$ to fix.
  23. sorry if I was unclear senna I will be driving to and from work still every day, just I will be stuck in city traffic the whole time, so hence the worry of fuel costs.
  24. as I said in a different topic, I am moving to Tasmania for work, and because of the fact that im going to be working in the city and living just out of it and fuel prices are starting to hurt the bank now and im not driving in traffic, im thinking of selling the T its not a definate, it depends on what rental property I get, if its cheap I'll keep the T, if I get a nice place that is a bit more expensive I think ill have to sell the T. MY QUESTION !!!! WHAT CAR SHOULD I BUY?? I want something that has good to very good fuel economy, and doesnt look like 1. a girls car. 2. a gay car (mazda mx5 etc). I was thinking a 94 BMW 318is, but im hearing now that they tend to be a bit unreliable. what do you guys think would be a good city going option that looks okay?? oh and I only want to spend about $15,000 so I can use the left over to live off until my GF finds a new job. my ideal situation would be to keep the T and get a nice place, but its proabably not gonna happen.
  25. Thanks for the replies guys, I might have to bring my car back to vic if I ever need to adjust the tuning. but the roads sound like fun. LoL @ the birds with two heads hahah yeah ill probably take my car down to the drags now and then, im trying to find a place right in the city so I can walk to work, then I can use my T as a weekend warrior. I might just do servicing myself. I dont trust everyday family car mechanics with my car after my bad experiences previously..
