  1. www.awcinfo.com I'm pretty sure a few forum members have there product and from what I hear its good stuff and very good value for money. I'll be getting one from there next year.
  2. what if there are CD's stuck in there? I am gonna rip mine out because it appears to be frozen, when you push the CD button it just make a little noise, then nothing happens after that, even though there are 6 cd's in there, after a minute or so it just goes back to the radio and that works fine. Eject and Load don't do anything either, load just says "wait" for ages then goes to radio, and eject does nothing. I think one of the cd's is jammed or something... I want to pull it apart to have a look, what is wrong with pulling it out with CD's in there?

    Tassie Chat

ahhhhh speewwwinn the cruise is cancelled... I was looking forward to seeing my own kind (people who arent tasmanian) lol anyways, it'd be nice to see if there are actually some people on here from Tassie, I know theres a couple but havent seen heaps. I'm in the Hobart area.
  4. you can do better than that. in Melbourne I got quoted $650ish from HP-F, cant remember the exact price but it was something like that. and I got quoted $450 from Herrod Motorsport and they said they change some other bushes while they are there another forum member got it done for $400 somewhere in Melbourne too. there has to be somewhere cheaper than where you were looking, try the place that was mentioned, but I wouldnt pay over $500, if your good with the tools then there is a forum post on how to do it yourself which is really really good and the part would only cost you like $60 Edit - I noticed you were in WA, I still think you could save some coin..
  5. HAHAHAHA the love heart was for 2 reasons.. 1. to get peoples attention 2. I was in a stupid mood... LOL
  6. wow... 385... arent you worried about that? what about injectors, they seem to handle less power. what did you guys make from them? also I would assume you get less fuel economy by upgrading the fuel system?
  7. that's more than I thought the pump would handle. Anyone else had experience with these numbers? I am really only wanting about 260ish at the wheels for now (because of the T5), until I get a company car in about 18 months and I'll turn the T into a project. I ma hoping to save a bit of money with the next stage of mods and if I can leave the fuel system alone and get 260ish I'll be happy.
  8. PLEASE DONT SHUT THIS THREAD DOWN LIKE ALL THE OTHER STOCK FUEL SYSTEM TOPICS I'm not trying to start another injector debate about how much power people THINK the stock system will handle... what I want to know from everyone is how much power they managed to get out of their own stock system before they had to upgrade it and get bigger pump and/or injectors. (also which one needs upgrading first?)
  9. Hey guys, currently when I hit the cd button on my factory 6 stacker, it goes to the cd screen but shows 0 cd's in there even though there are 6, it makes a couple of quick noises then after a minute or so it just goes back to the radio. someone suggested a cd might be stuck and is causing it not to load, but its been a bit buggy lately anyway so im not sure. I was gonna see if I could pull it out and have a look but im not too sure where to start, I had a look for a previous topic on how to get to it but I couldnt find one. I took out the cup holder, then removed the plastic cover where the gear selector is but not sure where to go from there. any advice would be great.
  10. very nice look forward to seeing / hearing the results
  11. custom tune at a good tuner.. eg horsepower factory, cv performance, nizpro, g & d etc... any of the site sponsors and then some... best bang for buck... you wont know yourself after that
  12. 200th Post for me!!! may as well waste it
  13. so obviously my main prob will be the T5.. I'll keep an eye out for a cheap t56 in the mean time, while I get all the parts I need over the next few months... so our06t yours is a BA? are you running a t56??? also do you think the mods ive chosen will give it the right flow and stop backpressure? or should I be looking at something else???
  14. sounds like my idea of better low end to mid range isnt a good idea with t5 and BA bottom end. although they will probably ended up being needed in the end anyway... I'll probably still get the mods I was after and just wait for something to break... because im down in tas and there is no tuners down here, I can't just do mods one at a time to slowly get the desired effect, and I dont wanna go and get some work done in melb then have to go back again to get something else done.... is there anything that can be done to the T5 to strengthen it?
  15. your right, but cant a good tuner tune it down a little so that it isnt making over 300rwkw? it made 240rwkw on 14psi so I was thinking an extra 40rwkw from the mods considering I could drop it to 12psi? would be fairly close ultimately I would want the fuel system to stay stock but I dont think it would handle the 260-280 target ive got
  16. Hey guys, Over the next 3-6 months I will be buying up all the stuff for my next stage of mods to take back to Melbourne to get tuned as NO ONE in tas can tune with the CAPA flash box (or anything else). Its so frustrating as my engine is pinging on the 98 octane tune at the moment with the sh*t fuel down here so I got it on factory tune.. I have a BA with standard bottom end and a T5... (I am fully aware of how fragile both are, but I'll fix them if they break as I fairly baby the car 90% of the time) Because of the fact of how fragile those parts are, for now I dont want huge power, instead I am wanting better throttle response and power in the low to mid range, and hopefully about 260-280kw at the wheels. here is what I had in mind after doing some research.... please some advice would be great as im still fairly new to this.... -Intercooler Upgrade - although I have had my heart set on Rapid systems because I have heard great things about them and they look HOT, I was talking to someone recently who said a slightly smaller cooler would be better for what I want to increase throttle response, so I am now thinking plazmaman 800hp cooler. ???? ---- some advice here would be awesome as I know both are great for big power but im not sure on the whole response and low to mid power etc... -Air Flow - Hot and Cold side piping to match the cooler, and a UBP intake system I am led to believe will help with what I am after. I don't really want to spend the extra and get a new plenum just yet.. -Exhaust - As im not after huge power, I was thinking of just upgrading the dump and cat to a more higher flowing version and leaving the rest the way it is... can anyone recommend a good brand here? - Fuel System - ultimately I'd love to save the money and not buy this but I think my pump and injectors with hit their limits with the other mods so I was thinking... 42lb injectors and a better fuel pump - once again a recommendation here would be awesome... I am hoping to get away from all this with spending around $5000 (including re-tune) and make between the 260-280kw mark at the wheels on either 12-14 psi... But ultimately I want the best possible throttle repsonse and low to mid range power.. any help or advice would be appreciated.. thanks in advance
  17. ok... well I pulled off all the intake pipes and had a look around. no damage to the turbo blades at the front, no chips at all, one is slightly different colour, almost like its been sanded back a little bit but not much (im talking really minor), and it has only about 1mm (if that) play in the turbine shaft and definately doesnt feel excessive. I gave it a spin and it sounded okay no noises like it was hitting on anything or grinding etc.. there were a couple of issues I will have to fix though, there is a line leading to the turbo, maybe the oil feed line (im not sure what it is), which looks like it has been leaking in a spot, I wanted to take photos but my gf has her camera in her handbag and it has our only memory card and she's at work. I will pull it apart tomoz and take photos so someone can inform me what the line actually is. the other thing is the o ring sort of rubber clamp that holds the intake hose to the front of the turbo on one side is broken near where the clamp goes, so I'll have to replace that. could be leaking air. apart from that it all looks good, im thinking maybe if this line with the slow leak is clogged a little maybe its causing it to not supply enough oil when its cold.??? and no more paint has come off the inside of the crossover pipe..
  18. alright well im gonna go wash the car and then pull it apart and have a look if I can see anything or if there is excessive play in the turbine wheel. I'll let you know if I find anything.. cheers for the advice
  19. true, 180,000 k's isnt too bad considering first person who had it only serviced it every 10,000k's (some cases 15,000k's). how much is a replacement turbo for these cars? can you get just the core part (the middle section im not sure what its called) of the turbo or do you need the whole thing? there goes my intercooler money if it is.... Rapid, could that also be a problem when its cold more so??? , because give the car 2-5 minutes and the noise stops and all is well, no miss firing, no loss of power, nothing to suggest something is wrong. turbo feels just as strong as when I first got it.
  20. alot of k's lol... 180,000+ so I'm fairly happy with how good it has been. havent had any serious problems yet. "touch wood" all country k's though, the owner was driving from vic to queensland like twice a month since new, even had services in both states. and I picked it up when it had 140,000k's when I had the car checked by G & D before buying it they said it was in better condition than most cars with 40,000k's they had seen, so I was happy enough with that. .... oh... one thing I did notice last time I cleaned the throttle body while changing the coil packs was that inside the crossover pipe where the intake pipes meet, inside that, some of the paint had started to come away and had chipped off, I removed any loose paint that was still there and left it, as I had planned on replacing the piping with an intercooler kit but that didnt happen due to $$$ moving to TAS. I'm starting to wonder maybe if more has come off.....
  21. Hey guys, just recently my car has developed a ticking noise when its cold above 2k revs, really sounds like the turbo because it seems to spin in time with the noise, or so it sounds. "it sounds like when people used to attach a playing card to the wheel of a bike and it would hit against the spokes of the wheel" I never have it on WOT when its cold this is just driving normal or just enough so the turbo spools. it doesnt sound like the engine pinging, its more consistant, more of a constant ticking but only while accelerating a little bit, I once had to put my foot down to avoid an accident recently and it made a bloody awful noise, like the same thing but alot louder and quicker. it sounds to me like the turbo is maybe grinding on something. but its only when its cold. ive had the supply screen filter replaced last 10,000 k's. And I got no decent tuners or mechanics that I found so far down here in TAS. last place who I was told were good down here I asked them how much to replace the diff bush and they told me these cars dont have diff bushes.. anyone got any ideas?
  22. Hey guys, I was thinking today, that with the stimulus package most probably going through now that its passed in lower hosue, with $950 going to all tax payers earning less than $100,000 per year, it would be a perfect opportunity to do a group buy on something to support australian business. I am a manager of a retail store, and know all too well the pain it is causing, with sales down and profits under extreme pressure, this would be a good opportunity to support Australian business and the Australian Economy. I know that a lot of people on here would be in debt or up to their ears in bills, and the money would definately help that, and of course there would be some people that just COULDN'T afford to spend the stimulus money. BUT the money is being put out there to be spent so if you can afford it, then it's a great opportunity, and with the amount of members on the forums we could definately get a good amount of people towards getting a great once off deal. I had in mind something from a site sponsor, eg. a RAPID systems intercooler, or an exhaust or, maybe some work at a certain performance shop eg cheap custom flash tune or something along those lines. obviously the finer details of the group buy would take some working out, and we would have to see what the site sponsors could offer, with price of everything going up because of the dollar. But I thought I might put the idea out there to see what you guys think. The money from the stimulus package would most probably be paid late march / early april. would love some Thoughts / Feedback / Ideas on this. cheers
  23. lol what idiots.. would be funny to do to someone else though
  24. I'm gonna put the car on ramps and have a look around to see if I feel confident enough to do this myself. if yes then you coulda just saved me a bit of money!!!! thanks for the great write up...
