The Subaru purchase is on hold for the moment due to the POX resale on the "T" so perhaps I will take the MPS for a spin when it's available. BTW If Mondie is impressed then I probably will be too..

It seems that the new Mazda may start from $48.6K so I have ammended the figures.. $/kW = $257, $/Nm = $128.

    Mazda MPS pwr to weight ration (kW:kg) = 0.118 $55K, $/kW = $289, $/Nm = $145 XR6T (BA) = 0.142 $47K, $/kW = $196, $/Nm = $104 Subaru Liberty GT = 0.132 $53K, $/kW = $279, $/Nm = $161 Subaru Liberty GT Wagon = 0.131 $55K, $/kW = $289, $/Nm = $167 SS Commodore = 0.151 $52K, $/kW = $208, $/Nm = $111 NA XR6 = 0.107 $38.5K, $/kW = $212, $/Nm = $101 The XR6T is the best bang for your retail dollar in this line up....although the SS does have a slightly better power to weight ratio (6% up) The Mazda does not really compare on this basis but then driving it may show it's strenghts. The "AWD" system is a bit esp compared to the Subaru set up. What we need is an AWD XR6T wagon and I'll be very happy....

I got a leter from Leaseplan a couple weeks back.... Offering a free install of vaporate on my car.... Did any other leaseplan drivers get one?
  5. Thanks Lucus1 for the detailed reply.... I'll give it a go and if need be post back any questions. Dave
  6. Would some kind person be able to assist me with some guidance on how to remove the front bumper assy from my "T" TIA

    2nd Hand T's

Dealer offered me 24K trade.... that's prety cheap esp since I have seen n/a XR6 of same vintage on lots for over 27K....
  8. OK.... Mine is a operating lease and all paid pre tax so I get the hit for all the FBT.. Do you have any comments regarding a private lease Vs CHP same residual, rate, term?? Waiver - any reply will be considered general comment not "advice"
  9. I have a novated lease/salary sacrefice set up. I would actually be better off leasing or CHP after tax and claiming the % usage as a tax deduction as I strugglr to get the 25K P.A. Is your novated lease statutory method or log book method for FBT purposes? I am thru leaseplan and they only do the statutory method (easier for them, more expensive for me) If statutory, then I suspect you will be in the same boat as me if you dont do much more than 25K P.A. If log book method, you will probab;ly be OK. Have you spoken to your accountant?
  10. ROFL.... and I'm a cat lover.... Here kitty.....
  11. here here... you forgot to mention that we NEVER should have stopped calling them chattels, let alone the abolishment of Conjugal Rights. Now we are reduced to begging.... And they wonder why we end up down the pub with the boys or out driving the car......
  12. Just be aware that these puppies dont hold their value so drive it till it dies, or make sure your payout is very low at the end of your lease CHP or whatever....
  13. That's where I lurk these days...well at least till I decide what I will buy... Subaru offerd me a $24K trade (not enough) - Mine is a Feb 03 with 70K on the clock. I'd be happy if I could loose it for better than $26.5K although at that price I still feel I'm getting ripped off. I am suprised at the depreciation of these cars and The BF will really screw resale. Oh Ford, you've done it again. At least the Subaru's tend to keep their resale value longer and I should at least get enough to cover the balloon next time.
  14. have you tried adaware or spybot search and destroy? Both cab ne downloade free. Adaware - lavasoft.nu, spybot - google will find it you want at least V1.4. Comes with "teatimer" which alerts you to any registry changes and you can either allow or deny change and also remember choice or not for future.
  15. go to www.trendmicro.com.au then click the free virus scan...follow the prompts etc. Sounds to me like you have a trojan or virus. good luck with it and post how you go.
  16. Thanks for the vote of confidence in my choice.
  17. Hi Mondie, thanks. Looks like a Subaru Liberty wagon - either the GT or the 3.0R. No sedans allowed at work now and the missus wont let me get a Ute. Test drive them tomorrow. Bet I choke on the trade offer they give me. YCL - I'm pushing 70K now and was hoping for around 28K....oh well.
  18. I leave the TC on all the time, Played around with it off a few times. Can get a bit hairy esp in the wet without it if you have a heavy right foot.
  19. The time has come for the "T" to go. I'm interested in knowing what other owners have sold their "T" for and what sort of milage it had.
  20. I must admit I have not actually driven one so I am perhaps being harsh, however my main gripe is that the increased weight and sub 200kW is a BIG come down from the "T"
  21. Good thought however SWMBO has a 3 month old BA XT company car otherwise I would have bought it and kept it for her....and taken the the company Magna and let the wife drive it, while continued to drive the "T", no allowance to worry about, no hassle.... BTW I still have her Daewoo wagon to get rid of so another spare car is not an option.
  22. Dont think they make a fairmont wagon anymore?? Else it would be an option.
  23. thanks markxr6t and blonk for your comments. I now have another option to consider. As for the territory "T", I went tyre kicking today and the Ford guys tell me the Turbo Territory is a real possibility..... I await the outcome.
  24. Thanks guys for your comments. yes I am not looking forward to handing over the keys to the "T" A Turbo territory AWD Ghia Now theres an option, I heard it was gonna be a Diesel turbo though....... The SS wagon would also be worth a look too if it materialises. The Berlina still wins so far as it is real and available... but heres hoping FORD can give me something to stay loyal to the blue oval.
