No scientific proof to support my claim, but I am convinced the car is more responsive and accelerates better after the 15K service....... :alien:

The fleet market is important to FOMOCO so they are keen to secure fleet business, however the Dealers aren't owned by FOMOCO and are driven by profits so they allocate cars to retail sales before fleet sales so the fleet buyers are usually the ones who are "pushed" back.

I rotated my tires front/rear, re balanced, and alignment checked at 10,000km and plan on getting it checeked every 10K or sooner if I see/feel anything out of the ordinary.

The head lights are polycarbonate so the protectors are not realy required...but they make good GP on them at the dealers so they continue to push them. Grim/leaf catchers IMO. The foggies are suseptable to damage though, with some already havein g to replace broken ones. Some members have made up covers or used the 3M film with some sucess.

Erm...your post is a little confusing but if I understand your question, the optional park lamps on the BA were deemed to not comply with some ADR and have been removed as an option. They were never intended to be fog lamps. I have not heard of any plan to replace/retro fit them with fog lamps or any other type of llight.

Are you sure it is pinging? I have a similar noise when my car is cold and under medium -heavy acceleration. I first heard it one morning as the missus raced off without warming it up. It's off to the dealer for investigation next Monday. FWIW - At the dyno day there were no signs of detonation at all.

Ok then I can safely tell the missus that the 17th is canned. I await an alternate date

Thanks Hammer007, you are spot on there and saved me a lengthy explanation. As for my first post, it was technically incorrect since the upgrades would not be completely free but effectively half price since they are paid from pre tax money as you correctly point out.

On call that week end, doesn't mean I cant go just that I can't promise to either make it or stay.

Now they are smooth as a baby's.....

I did the same a while back...the pain of paying $100 for them has subsided and I'm happy with the result

I have no idea what they did on the 3k service as I never saw any paper work. I do know that they did not change the oil though. BTW - I had my 15k service today and the total cost was less than $150. The oil and filter were changed - filter $12.27 and the oil (Castrol FMX Magnatec 1030 - 6.6 lt) was $42.90. prices are excl GST.

What you are saying makes sense, however, in march this year my lease company sent me a nice letter asking if I had "contributed" to the maintenance and/or running costs of the car. Further more they stated that the ATO required that I provide tax invoices for all claims except fuel/oil where I was only required to make a declaration. I am quite sure that if I "repair" my ECU or exhaust and have a tax invoice to that effect I will have no problems....we'll see I guess. First I have to cover off on the insurance before I change anything.

I was discussing with the wife why I had to make a post tax contribution to the running of the car so that the company avoided any FBT, and that any out of pocket expenses for "up keep" I incur are deductible against this post tax contribution on a dollar for dollar basis. She replied......."so you can get $4k of mods for free then since you gotta pay the money one way or the other" :idea: :D I'll now have to see how flexible the Lease company will be

I may be wrong here, but isn't the Outside Diameter of either wheel including rubber about the same? Check with a tape measure and if they are then the speedo will be accurate. Also the Standard BA has 16's on them and you can "option" the XR with them so there should be no problems. A quick call to your local Ford service centre will confirm that the standard steel wheel is exactly the same on the BA and AU. If swo then there should be no probs with brake/wheel arch clearance. As for running 18's on the front and 16's on the rear....don't think that will be illegal but will sure look funny :lol: :lol:

Only front as far as I know. FWIW - Mine went in today for treatment........done 15,000km
