  1. I picked up the car today and they found an "internal" fault in the engine mamagement computer and have replaced it. Apparently if failed big time while in the workshop and the car seemed to be trying to run on 2 cylinders at one point.
  2. I have been advised that the noise is pinging and they are going to change the computer to resolve it. Oh well another 24hrs driving the AU loaner :(
  3. My dealer tells me that the change in performance may be due to a software upgrade done at service. I'll try and get some more info....
  4. You mean the rest of you guys *dont* wear a suit :hiwelcome:
  5. And you've started taking your meds again havent you.....
  6. A new exhaust for the V8 for an increase of 10kw to 245kw. makes you wonder why they didnt do it up front.
  7. I wonder why.......either not married or..... What was it the mother inlaw (to be) whispered in my loving brides ear on the wedding day that made her laugh so.... "remeber my daughter...Isle, Alter, Hymn"
  8. Yes you would think so but perhaps your location is a killer Or maybe the thought of "selling after 8 months, whats wrong with it, how hard has he thrashed it" are in the potential buyers mind. Sorry to admit it, but that's what I'd be thinking........until I met you face to face. :D
  9. Are you sure it was a "sleeper" and not a dressed up XT?
  10. Well today I got the "proof" I needed. The wife took the car for a spirited drive today....on her way to church (no pun intended). Took off like a deamon and when she returned she tells me the car goes harder than it used to So that the final word as far as I'm concerned until and unless FOMOCO make an official statement on this matter...

Glad to see you are dedicated (addicted) like so many of us. BTW - 3 useful posts......please dont exaggerate
  13. Cats are reasonably smart (Realy ) They only need to get a nose full of the pepper once or twice and they'll avoid the car.
  14. I'd be very suprised if the base frame is not exactly the same across the entire range, so adding in the additional hardware for the arm rest should be possible. You may find it cheaper to just buy the entire fairmont (or whatever) seat back and get it covered with leather, rather than try modifying your existing seat. Where are the Ford parts guys when you want a part number and price.... :D
  15. Mine did the stall/mis fire bit early on but since the 3k service there have been no problems and I have 15K on the odo now.

  17. IMO - the only good car cover has a roof, 3 walls and a roller door. But not everone has one not even me. shoot the cats OR get some fine white pepper and sprinkle it on the bonnet. Cats always sniff where they lay so it may put them off.
  18. I use the "gears" all the time to hold road speed into the citylink tunnel, down ferntree gully road hill. in 2nd or 3rd with the cruise set it makes sure I dont get pinged by the tax collectors...I mean the police. I also use the SSS to slow down sometimes.
  19. I just took the car for a spin and I am sure that it was not so easy to break traction before and the T/C seems less intrusive now.....either that or I had never put the pedal all the way to the floor before
  20. Adelaide....why........ Boags is Tasmanian. And you can buy it in almost any bottle shop now :D
  21. It could be...that's what they put in my beast...Castrol Magnatek.
  22. I fix pathology instruments which entails a fair bit of mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, optical, laser, chemiluminessence, and IT related systems. What does that make me?
  23. Lightening strike is silver/grey, harvest green is a metalic green and the new blue is Off Shore. There is also another colour I have not seen before....Luscious, which appears to be a metalic burgundy. Not sure if all these are available on the XR range though.
  24. WOW That about sums it up. FAB work and a great result. This is surely the best looking forum about now.
