Some updated pics - have been trying to restore it to AS NEW. Side skirts painted, front bar painted, under guard detail, engine bay detail, new genuine front headlights, etc
-
Yeh true.. not really into drag racing, more just want something to cruise in and scare some friends and relatives with 25psi lol
-
Ah ok thanks mate, might just be easier to go 6 speed manual conversion...
-
Thanks boys! Very happy with it so far.. I actually really like the 4 speed BTR as it has been tuned to suit and has much firmer shifts... looking at perhaps just buying a built BTR when I go for the next round of mods and 500rwkw.. unless there's another option that will keep drivability and handle the power?

Which Oil to use in built engine?
jacob_xr6turbo replied to jacob_xr6turbo's topic in Engine Workshop
Thanks guys, does anyone know what range the stock FPV oil pressure gauge shows? with the oil that I just dropped it would sit at 1/3 when idling and when I revved it it went to 2/3 under load. I will keep an eye on this new and see what it reads -
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I have the following engine build in my car: - Cosworth Forged Pistons - Howard I-Beam Conrods - ARP Main Studs - ARP Head Studs - Cradle Gurdle - Billet Oil Pump Gears - Steel Head Gasket - Crow valve springs. Is there a recommended oil for this combination? I cant ring the engine builder as they dont exist anymore.. I bought some Penrite racing 15w-50 - 100% pao ester synthetic... Will this be OK? Engine would have like 15,000kms on it maximum. Cheers,

Clutch whirring/smelling up incline on launch
jacob_xr6turbo replied to jacob_xr6turbo's topic in Driveline Workshop
Thanks Keith, it has a remoter bleeder and apparently already has a mal wood twin plate upgraded clutch... I can confirm the remote bleeder as I used it to bleed my clutch fluid a few months back. If it has the remote bleeder im sure it is the metal CSC as part of the mal wood kit. I will order a CSC and take it to the shop to inspect. Is there anything else I should order/replace if im changing the CSC? Spigot, thrust bearing or anything? -
Clutch whirring/smelling up incline on launch
jacob_xr6turbo replied to jacob_xr6turbo's topic in Driveline Workshop
Thanks Keith, makes sense as I am also getting some clutch drag when downshifting.. Know the best place to order a new CSC? -
Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone would know why my clutch would be making a whirring noise when launching in first gear, or even in reverse, followed by a bad clutch smell.. ? Car drive perfectly fine otherwise, and clutch holds fine under boost. There just seems to be an issue when im launching up hill or reversing up an incline, etc. I'm not riding the clutch or anything, literally just feels like the clutch can't engage properly as soon as there is a hill or incline that I'm driving up.. Thanks,

-

-
yes! well, I am going interstate on the 11th but I could perhaps join you guys on the 8th or 9th? what time do you get in to devonport? I just bought an f6 typhoon r spec today from a guy on the mainland, so I will be in my barra and not in the sv6 ute! I havent done much exploring up here yet, only driven once through the tarkine which was amazing, and cradle mountain, but apart from that not much else! too busy working.
-
Burnie, north west coast...
-
hey guys I moved to tassie a year ago and im looking at buying another barra shortly. there are some amazing roads down here, you'll all have a blast! Maybe I can join you on a leg in my SV6 Ute?
-
I've had mainlube in my car for over a year now, and I have NO noises whatsoever in my box. I used to get a sticky shifter, really bad rollover noises, bearing noises, all sorts of stuff. The mainlube was easily the best money I spent on my gearbox. T56 BA MKII.
-
Hey guys, Just detailed her for preparation of perhaps selling her. Just thought I'd chuck some of the happy snaps up. Cheers, Christiaan
