  1. I just installed a process west intake muffler delete and it's coming off as soon as car has cooled down. The awesome turkey noise from the Herrod intake that I used to get when closing the throttle is gone, and replaced with a whoosh that sounds like the boost leak I had when the joiner into the throttle body split. The increased spool sound is pretty average, a kinda dirty noise and not the clean turbine sound I was expecting. I'll check the rubber joiner when I take it off to make sure it hasn't split, they're pretty bloody flimsy but I don't think that's the problem. Disappointing, it was pricey for a metal pipe, a hose and two jubilee clips, even more so considering I won't be using it.
  2. A K&N panel filter would do absolutely zero to ET, or anything else for that matter. Any improvement would be so minuscule you couldn't differentiate it from margin of error. I would consider this car stock. The times are bloody impressive, I saw a brand new F6 with about 100km on the clock at Kwinana drags a few years back and he was running mid 12s, but 12.1 is something else entirely!
  3. there is an increase in turbo noise but not enough to pick up in a video and not significant enough to justify buying the intake. You probably need to swap out the silencer pipe if you want to hear the turbo spinning up constantly. The big noise difference is from the recirc valve, it's much, much louder than it was before. I had a K&N pod filter setup on my old XR5 and the constant turbo hissing got on my nerves, I just want the flutter when I lift off to shift.
  4. the Herrod looks good, is really well made, simple to fit, and sounds bloody awesome on my F6 ( ). Cutting the stock intake looks like a decent idea if you wanna spend $0, but you'd wanna be mindful of the hot air in the engine bay; the Herrod draws air from the snorkel and from the bottom/front of the box, but it's protected from the hot air on the engine side.
  5. I posted on AFF asking about optimal settings for track use and didn't get a reply from Shockworks. Most of their testing will have been done on the road. I did some testing the other week during at a track event, and did notice an increase in understeer as I firmed up the front end. I ended up driving with 8/10 front and 7/10 rear, which was effective with the Sport Maxx at around 34psi hot. Next event (in November) will be done with R888s, and I'm hoping to go to 10/10 front and a notch less at the rear.
  6. I was having this discussion with a friend the other night, one of his mates in the UK works in the industry, so we asked for his advice. The question was: with coilovers + semi slicks would there be any improvement with ARBs, but the question is basically 'is there such a thing as too stiff' (ahem): A little hard to read but in his defense he replied to the question in about 20 seconds. My interpretation is yes there is such a thing as too stiff, as lateral force against the contact patch will increase but the tyre won't be forced into the ground by weight, so the tyre will slip.
  7. I was looking at the Polk subs but the manual says specifically do not run in a free-air or infinite baffle set up. I went with the Kenwood KFC-XW800F, bolted up to the standard parcel shelf holes (not all subs will, the Pioneer free-air one will not). Plenty of Dynamat and the improvement is huge. The standard sub was absolutely rubbish. I did buy Polk DB6501 and 651 speakers for the doors, but I haven't got around to installing them. Part of the reason is once I'd put Dynamat on the doors the stock speakers actually started sounding alright! There is still plenty of room for improvement though so they will go in soon.
  8. Yep they were $2k plus $80 shipping to Perth. A good few hundred cheaper than Teins. I had them set softer than I thought, 6 front 5 rear, adjusted them up a bit now 8/10 front 7/10 rear, very firm ride now but not jarring, and it's even sharper in corners. Bloody impressive, you would not believe this is an 1800kg car. Under hard braking the car feels completely solid.
  9. Do it. I've had them in my F6 for the last 3000km and they are amazing. I have the fronts set to 7/10 and the rears to 6/10, handling is night and day compared to stock and ride quality is still really nice, firm but well damped. I'm gonna stiffen then up a couple more notches and see how it feels. The inverted rear damper makes them easy to adjust, just a couple of minutes all round.
  10. perhaps, I haven't tried anything with them yet, need to look at whether novated leasing is still tax effective with the 20% FBT rate (I'm guessing it's not). More concerning is the fact that dealer allocations are going fast and they're not being refreshed. I dropped into a dealer on the way home from work (where I bought my XR5) and the guy basically said sorry, no more FPVs for them ever. He told me to call around other dealers and be quick about it, and I don't see any reason for him to make stories considering his job is to sell FPVs. Will have to make up my mind quickly and get this sorted, pretty much my last chance to by a practical, high performance sedan with a manual box without spending a fortune.
  11. I'm also leaning towards getting an F6 at this new pricing, hard to turn it down! I also thought it was 2013 plates only, but was told they could build me a 2014 at the same price, which was great to hear. I think the 2.9% financing offer is only for 2013 plates though. Vanish would be my colour of choice, metallic blues have great depth, white not so much. Kinetic is good too but I think Vanish is the colour for me.
