Hey All, Got a flasher today and threw in the 8psi for a squirt late in the arvo. Ran nice with a noticeable difference in power, especially from 3k up. Stuck in the 10psi generic and was a tad better. I did notice when I got home that idle was a bit rougher than on factory tune, and the entire car had a slight left to right shake in it. Didn't think that much of it at the time. Had a couple of mates around at around 8 so took them out for a bit of a run. Let it warm up, gave it a couple of half throttles to about 4k and everything seemed fine. I was sitting at some lights, chucked it into 1st (tippy) and gave it about 3/4 throttle until 3k then stuck the boot in. At about 4k there was an almighty backfire, then what sounded like a very loud tappet-without-oil sound from under the bonnet (taka taka taka taka). I coasted to the side of the road, left it running and got out to listen. The exhaust said she wasn't running on all 6 cylinders and the tappety sound was loud from under the bonnet so I shut it down. Called the RACV and got a tow home (only 3 or so k's away). There wasn't a trace of oil from anywhere and all hoses were still attached. I'm thinking a valve spring maybe? Anyone else heard of anything similar happen? I will be getting it diagnosed tomorrow and if it's something more serious, then I'll be looking at a positive - build a stronger bottom end. This is a BA MK1 Auto, stock as a rock (apart from the generic tunes I put in today) with 55k on the clock. I was running Shell V.

Any Ideas For Group Buys? - Window shopping for blokes...
a topic replied to straughsberry in Group Buys
Hey all, Thinking about a group buy of gearbox strengthen/upgrade. Example, band, clutch, valve body, stall, upgrade etc. Think about it... we all know how strong and tuff our standard gearboxes are.... Anyone interested?
Yeah I am. The best I've been quoted is $1500. That's the usual bands, clutches, valve body and AU planetries - no converter but I'd be looking at that too at the right price. -
Add me to the list too please. Thanks.......Richard
No worries Richard. You're added.
When is the closing date for this group buy? I might be interested in a set if things aren't in any big rush.
The orginal plan was to put the order in on the 8th of October. I'll be finalising the list on the 5th and payments will have to be made by the 6th. Let me know if this suites. If it doesn't but you are 100% sure you want a set and can pay in a reasonable amount of time, I may be able to get you a set out of my own pocket. PM me about if you want. Looks like it's the C5. SPC5R is on the invoice.

Basically, they've got a performance caliper and a sports caliper. I think the sports caliper is the same as the standard caliper but painted red! This suites the standard 298x28 rotor. The performance caliper is the stiffened one with the larger pads to suit the 325x32 rotor. The difference in price was about 300 a pair I think. You should be able to get the performance caliper on it's own then get whatever brand rotor you want. As I mentioned, the only gotcha is the bracket for the braided lines. PBR doesn't sell this seperately and Fraud wants $56 each retail compared to $2.10 for standard bracket. You could get one made up if you can get your hands on one though. PM me if you want my number and I can have a chat to you about it.

Yeah. Just ordered what I wanted. But as I learned, you only get that brake line bracket in the PBR kit or from Fraud at a ridiculous price.
Now I've been ripped off on the forum too when I was a newbie, cost me $500 along with a few other members. I've also bought and sold heaps of stuff through here as well. It just takes common sense. Straughsberry, I'd suggest posting a phone#, email and postal address and give the option of pick-up and being able to pay face to face so that you dispell any thoughts of wrong doing here.
I was planning on PM'ing all those on the list soon anyway. I have already offered to meet people face to face a few posts ago (but I can't remember if that was in some of the posts which the mods removed.) On that note, can the mods please leave a note if they remove posts and/or edit peoples posts? Yeah pickup is an option I didn't consider but that would be cool. If people want to say hello, I'm in the Chelsea area and work in Noble Park. Let me know. I got them at trade through a friend so they where a good price. Still not as cheap as you might think but a couple of hundred less than anywhere else I've seen at retail.

Yeah they're still bedding in so they don't feel great at the moment. Thy will definitely be better than stock, you can tell that already. Drove home from Broady last night (about 60km home) on freeway so not much braking needed. They still got a bit of bedding in before I can give them a good test.

Hey All. I EGOXRT and I just fitted the PBR premo calipers with DBA 4000 slotted rotors to my T. It was an easy job (specially when EGOXRT did 98.54% of the work and I was the shop lackey) though we did come across one hitch. We couldn't see how the braided lines were going to fit on the standard bracket. Then, bright spark that I am, I remembered reading that the prems had a different bracket. We hit PBR's web site and found this to be the case. Off to Burson we go to order a couple we thought. Not if PBR had anything to do with it. "Can't get that bracket outside of the kit" we were told. OK. The cars on stands, the calipers are fitted and I'm driving my car home tonight with the new brakes on it. Where now? Fraud of course. So we walk into Bayford and enquired about the bracket. Yes, they are a serviceable item and guess what, they had not 2, but 3 in stock. Cool! Then the man behind the counter proceeded to tell us, "The stock bracket is $2.10 plus and the bracket for the premium brakes is...lets see...$56 plus" What the!? Did he say $5.60 plus? Nope, he said $56 plus. The man obviously had a heart and felt real bad for us so he gave em up for trade. Still, about 16 times more than the standard bracket because of an extra 5x5 cm piece of mild steel. Anyway, here's some pics:
What sort of power figures will the 60lb be good for? Also in terms of tuning, can the injectors be too big for say power under 300rwkw??
To quote headsex "These are rated at 60lb/hr (630CC/HR) @ 300kpa. With the xr6turbos 400kpa preasure, these would be good for approx 450rwkw". Yes, you can use them for under 300rwkw. How much under are we talking? I understand the stockies are good for safe for about 250rwkw. If you want something in that region then dont waste your hard earned! You do realise that once these are fitted, you will have to do a tune before you can drive the car?
I once looked into importing siemens, in quantity of 120 for $37.50us a unit, But, but the time you add Freight, 10% Customs, and 10% GST into it. its hardly worth the hastle.. Even making payment internationally was a hastle.. and Hoping they come is another thing. I hope you've taken gst and duty costs into account when coming up with your final price..
The price we are quoted is what we are going by. Hey guys I have confirmation of the branding. The in-stock injectors are branded as "Edge" written or laser etched in white. However, being they're genuine Siemens Deka, they also have Siemens Deka actually stamped into the injector casing. Anyone who is unconfirmed, can you please make a decision now that you know. To confirm the end of the group buy, everyone will have to be paid up by the 8th of October (transfer money on the 7th at the latest) as our order will be going out with one of theirs. These are sourced from the States as is anyones who imports them directly and delivery will be about 10 days. Everyone buying, I will PM you before the 5th of October with bank account details and my mobile number. The original plan was to put the order in on the 8th of October to allow for enough time to get the 12 sets required. But we could go earlier if we get the numbers. If there's more interest we may be able to get another order in with less sets but I'd have to find out.
