56280. BA MK1 October 2003. I bought the car with 55700 on it, had it 3 weeks and bent 2 rods, broke lower block casting. New phoon bottom end went in at 55640. I dont do many K's to and from work 3 days a week about 40 km, Some trips etcf. Probably do 15-20 k kms a year...

Yeah I bent a couple of rods as well 4 weeks ago. I just got the car back last Friday. I went the F6 short motor too but the BF from 06/06 has the same rods as anyway. I can get them for $2250. PM me if you're intersted. Whatever you end up doing, you might also consider doing your valve springs. This should save you around $200 because of having the head off.

Got the car back Friday night and put 500ks on it over weekend. Me and EGOXRT are probably going fishing down towards Lakes Entrance next weekend so I can get another 6 or 7 hundred on it. My right foot is twitchin!

Finally got the sump off. No 1 conrod bent like an S and snapped the bottom of the cylinder casting off. No 5 slightly bent. I was hoping to use the block and crank to build a beast over the next year or so but that wont be happening with this block... Anyone know where I can get a cheap block!

I new the that the BF had provision for 2 knock sensors and the different oil filter threads but didn't know that the BA block had the 2 knock sensor provisions also. Thanks for the confirmation. Any tips for building my new motor?

Yes that's right. As of 06/06, they all have the same rods. In fact, the list price for XR6T is more than for the typhoon short motor. The only difference is the Typhoon block has 2 knock sensors instead of 1. I got the short motor, delivered to my mechanic, for $2200. that's the block (no sump gears etc), crank rods and pistons - a short motor!

Thanks for your patience and trusting me! It was a bit of a risk (for everyone) but I hope to do some more in the near future. I can't say too much just yet but there are a couple of things in the pipe-line including something we (EGOXRT and I) will be developing and manufacturing ourselves. Keep an eye out for it! You said it yourself - it CAN be safe. There must be quite a few tunes that are not safe considering the amount of dead motors we hear about on this forum alone. Have a chat with a few builders and the some of the boys who sell Ford bottom ends and the picture will start to become clearer. Generics are an engine builders best friend.

Hey cgloc1 Depending on how you want to make power (efficient power?) then there are differnet things you can do. The usual things are: 1. Bigger intercooler and piping 2. CAT and dump pipe 3. 2nd CAI / POD w/battery relocation 4. Injectors and fuel pump 5. Valve springs (if you want 300rwkw, you will need to do them) 6. CAPA Flasher 7. Custom tune 9. Transmission cooler 10. Brake upgrade Depending on who you know and if you are willing to do some of the work yourself, I reckon you could get close to 300 rwkw for around $5000. I would also consider upgrading brakes if you do not have premo brakes. Look up BCR01 - he does brakes packages. I can also get these too so drop me a PM if you are interested. I think you will definitely need better stopping power with 300rwkw. Also, I would be putting money aside for a transmission rebuild at some point down the track. This is about $1000-$2500 depending on what you get done and who does it. One more thing. When you get your CAPA Flasher, be very careful with the generic tunes. You can blow your motor up and cost you 10 times what you payed for it! If you are going to run generics long term, I would definitely get it on a dyno to tighten up the tune. Have fun.

Sorry for not answering people pm's quicker. I just received an email alerting me to 3 new PM's but apparently they're a day old? I think there's a glitch in the matrix.
