  1. Trav! Been flat out with work and family stuff mate. But still going on project. Turning up the wick (40+ psi hopefully) so I'm going a new piston and rod to handle it. Block going back for machining. How's your beast going mate?

  2. That's moving. Awesome effort.
  3. I had the same symptoms. The cat de-laminated and lodged itself (almost fully in-tact) in the rear muffler.
  4. If you need pistons and rods, I still have a couple of sets of Mahle Power Pak pistons and Argo conrods. I have 1 set of pistons 20thou over and 1 at 1.5 thou over. The pistons are rated to 1250 hp and Argo's to 1500hp. I want to get rid of them so the price will be a ripper! PM me if you are interested and I'll let you know a price.
  5. "Pumps 325ltr/hr at 60psi. Don't forget that to accurately see what a fuel pump is capable of flowing, you have to add boost and fuel pressure. So if you run 20psi boost and 60psi fuel pressure, then you need to see what the pump flows at 80psi as this is what it will be working against.
  6. Yes mate. Dave's really looked after me and has backed his work. My RVO BTR went 2.5 years (about 50,000km) with 370rwkw before it needed a freshen up. No trans cooler. Gotta love that.
  7. Dave is doing mine
  8. They do. The 80/85 is a beefier unit but is also more parasitic that the 65. I also found when looking into it that they are a fair bit more expensive. I was quoted 10k for an 80 that was rated to 1000hp versus about 6k for the 65 rated to about 800hp. Definitely an option if you have the dosh.
  9. I'd go a Powerglide if you want a "pure" drag box. But depending on your power how much street driving you do, I'd consider a 4l60 / 4l65. I've got a 4l65 that will be going behind my new motor. Plan to put 1000HP+ through it on the dyno and 750+ on the strip. See how that goes. Next box will be a PG for sure.
  10. I reckon it's something hitting something else and possibly creating an audible representation of the collision and that's what your hearing. GL with it.
  11. I know the guy selling it. I was talking to him about it yesterday. As the add says, it was involved in a small grass fire which did some engine bay damage and needs a VIV to be registered. He's replacing what needs replacing as I understand it. If I was in the market for one, I'd be checking it out at least.
  12. That's a lot of wasps. Don't know how the 4l65 will handle it. Maybe after I throw in a 'Glide
  13. All in
  14. Hey Trav. Yes and no. Some good news this week. Final assembly of head almost ready to happen. Just waiting on some cams. But I've now decided to go a custom piston in 2618 alloy so we can turn the boost up a little more knowing the new slugs can take a little more punishment. So a little more machining and stuff but it's all for the good.
  15. Worm that was the original build when the infamous DW was doing a 500rwkw build/tune which was supposed to take 6 weeks. Things changed rather quickly after I handed over a 10k deposit as most would know by now. The bar has been raised. 900rwkw ya reckon Trav I'll buy you a bear or two if it makes that for sure mate. Lets see what it does fist and if things go well, we'll wind the boost up as much as the thing will puff safely. Should be in the 40psi vicinity.
  16. Thanks Brian. Seems like I need more patience than money. So far waiting on either delivery from the US or local manufacture of parts has costs around 12 months in total. In fact, there are still some parts I'm waiting for but luckily, aren't yet crucial to the build. Yes the bar has certainly been raised in 2 years. See how we go
  17. The Trav! Still waiting on some parts mate. Waiting for tooling to be made that allows the adjustable solids to be adjusted on the head. There's not much room up there and the inside bank is proving to be difficult I'm told. :(
  18. Just another thought. Grasping at straws but do you know what brand of hub they used? Might be an el-cheapo and inherently noisy or just sh*te.
  19. Not sure. Mine was the usual bearing rumble and louder on turns. I think mine was a CBC bearing from memory. They did a report on my knackered bearing and they reckon it was much more than a few weeks old so they wouldn't warranty it. What do you do. $150 bucks down the drain. Would like to take a look at the stub axle. Maybe they had a hard time getting the old one off and did some damage to the stub?
  20. I had a brand new hub go on me in 2 weeks. Was stuffed and noisy even in a straight line. If they didn't torque it up right it may have done some damage? Jack the front up and spin up the wheels to check for a bearing problem when you get back doc. GL.
  21. Stock converter went about 2000rpm for me and my power. My modified stock converter goes about 2700rpm. Yes they are a lock down. Mine locks down at 60km in 3rd and 80 in 4th. This is what you'd be experiencing almost definitely.
  22. And may I add probably the most spotless workshop I've seen. My Pit Lane tune is about 65,000km old on stock F6 bottom end running 370rwkw. Never missed a beat.
  23. Run as fast as you can before he gets you in his never ending loop of crap. There have been many members of this forum stung hard by him all over Australia and NZ including business associates. The Mr. Nice Guy act is just that - an act. His library of tunes are mostly snipped tunes of other tuners which he goes on to ruin. I saw 21psi to make 340rwkw on one car with some deadly ping under load. Bores out of round, missing crank spacers, second hand parts when charged for new - all from people I've spoken to. And that's if you're lucky. If you're unlucky, you'll get nothing but a massive hole in your wallet. I've personally spoken to 8 or 9 people who've been taken for some very decent rides going for as long as 2 years waiting for work and to the tune of $150k+ that I know of. He's been booted out of every factory he's been in. I've also had some very interesting conversations with ex-employees about how he operates and what he does to not just new and unsuspecting customers, but also old associates who for some reason keep using to him. And that's the tip of the iceberg, trust me. VCAT loves him. I found one VCAT case which he lost for over $20,000. He didn't even turn up. I wonder why? Oh yeah, he never got the notice in the mail or watchamcallit. His dog ate it. Sheriffs are his best friends. Plenty of top-notch and trust worthy tuners around mate. Try Danny at Springvale Performance and Mick at Pit Lane in Franga. 2 Awesome tuners and blokes. Chris and Theo at Bluepower are also excellent but probably a little far from you. Good luck.
  24. Something something something darkside. Welcome back. Did ya get a ripper deal? I can't remember the last time the holding yards at Ford were so full.
