  1. Very odd. Looking at the intake, what do the vanes look like? They should be a gerotor type (same as our oil pump gears) and not fan type. Can you take a pic?
  2. In the immortal words of agent 86 "Missed it by that much". Keep up the awesome effort boys.
  3. Anyone from Vic interested in going up? We might be able to score a deal if we have a few. My cousin and I are looking like we'll probably be going. Just have to re-arrange a couple of things and we're there.
  4. I'd love to make this event with my car Trav but I'm doubting there's enough time. Exhaust valves are probably another 2 months away mate. Looks like me and my cousin will be flying up anyway. It's going to be an awesome event.
  5. Yeah I am slightly nuts. But 50k is not just motor. A little on driveline as well 50k should see me to the first 3 goals, but longevity of drivEline might be an issue. 745rwkw is a reach. Through the knowledge and experience of others, there are a couple of things that will be holding power back. I think we will well into the 600's, but some more will probably need to be spent to get that fuel burning nicely as we get towards 700. And then of course, it all needs to stay together. Haha thanks for the offer Trav! So should I start sending invoices to you
  6. Yes Trav. It's actually rated to 1350RWHP (US RWHP). I'd say the rating is based on a 5+ litre V8. From what I understand and what others who know what the turbo is capable of have told me, it is capable of well over 700rwkw on a 4 litre. It's going to come down to the surrounding components as to what we can actually push it to.
  7. And best of all, you get a mean idle
  8. Sounds like an awesome package Spiko. This kind of feedback is invaluable.
  9. Lets celebrate with multiple donations This is uncharted territory for me boys. So when you don't have the experience or knowledge, you make mistakes which cost time and money but from which you learn. As a start, I'm putting 50 odd grand into this build and it will require more to get it to the next level. I am not made of money so 50k represents a good chunk of my life savings and so I'm holding the reins tightly. Add to that the hours of time individuals and businesses have given and it's a very expensive exercise. I've also raised the bar, so to speak, a couple of times and have upgraded components which means going back and forth between machine shop, head shop, engine builder, fabricators etc. It's a learning curve. I am very confident the wait will be worth it for all who've put their time, money, knowledge and product into this build. Me and my team are in this for the long-haul and we are all excited about the potential results. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is on board project EXRSIK You know who you are but when we get some results on the board, so will everybody else. Cheers.
  10. Hey Trav. Bit of a delay on the valves mate. They are coming from the States and they're flat out trying to keep up with their own racing season demand so it's the old waiting game...
  11. The answer to that is - time to go external gate!
  12. Cheers Chris The detail with the SR6500 tweeters is unbelievable. You hear stuff you've never heard before in songs you've been listening to for 20 years. The midbass from the SR6500 is a little lacking though. Luckily the installer stuffed up and didn't check clearance so part of the butyl rubber surround was torn from being in contact with the door. So I got to choose a new set of drivers The 6 inch Morel Elates are a very nice midbass driver. Plenty of midbass and great power handling due to it's 3 inch motor. Now that's a big motor for a 6 inch driver. I now can run the crossover down to 60hz and they can handle it nicely. 2 x 12's? Ported or sealed enclosures? You car was powered by bass!
  13. I haven't got an opinion of the difference because I haven't had the chance to test both for comparison. But the general consensus is as stated. The 4 inch flows more up top but the split 3.5 inch spools a little earlier. There's also an argument for the split dump in that it joins the wastegate gases back into the exhaust flow in a more favourable position.
  14. Compared to my old Falken 452, the Toyo T1R's hook up very nicely in a straight line. They are very quite too.
  15. The porting is about boost control. It may be worth it if you can't control boost.
  16. For comparison, on the Pit Lane Mainline dyno I make 369 rwkw @ 17psi using factory crossover, factory hotside pipe, Nizpro I/C, ported turbo and the XForce 3.5 inch split dump to single 3.5 inch system.
  17. Very nice work to all involved. Did someone say slalom? And thanks for doing the research using cams without VCT You're a champ Spiro
  18. Most amps have high-level inputs these days. Probably for people wanting to retain factory head units. I don't see why the sound quality would be any different. With good power leads, quality wiring and well insulated connections, I doubt you'd notice the difference between high-level and RCA inputs. I'm running front splits which are Polk SR6500 tweeters and crossovers and Morel Elate 6 inch mid-bass. A 12inch sub sits in the boot. The sub amp gets fed via the rear speaker cables coming off the factory head unit. The front splits get fed via the front speaker cables. I use the fader as sub volume control. SQ is good and there's plenty of volume. If I want to fit rear speakers for rear passengers, I'd run the RCA outs from the front amp to the new rear amp.
  19. Oil pressure is limited on the Atomic units which are tested to 7500rpm. They also come with a billet backing plate for thrust wear resistance. Retail prices are on the Atomic website. Atomic Performance Parts - Performance through innovation -
  20. And that was my point Spiko. To flat out say "not possible" is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Definitely not street driven! It was a circuit car apparently. I heard they had to raise the height of the bonnet by 3 inches to allow for the extra valve lift
  21. Mine was a Typhoon Short. I didn't get asked for anything.
  22. I think that the genuine Ford units are your best option. They aren't cheap at retail. I've heard of people paying up to $77 each. I can get them cheaper than that. I'll PM you.
  23. What are you sorry about!? It doesn't bother me that people have no taste
  24. When is someone going to wake up to the fact that the XR8 bulge is one of the biggest atrocities ever clumped onto a bonnet as an after-thought. I realise clearance was needed for the 8 but there's a fairly big I6 market in case anyone has missed it. Front-on things look not too bad but seriously, the profile on that thing reminds me of Gonzo from the Muppets. I think the scoop would look a lot better if it didn't rise so much at the back. It would then not have such a long way back to the bonnet. This would make for a much sleeker and less Gonzo-like profile. There are a couple of after-market bonnets based on this design and they still look like crap IMO.
